I started wearing sweaters to work coz I realised you don't need to iron your shirt underneath anymore :D

    • +1

      You sir WIN.

    • Top marks for practicality! Well played.

    • +1

Only works during winter, or if work has really cold air con.

    • Been doing the same for the last few weeks now! the thin Merino one's help get around air con issues.

      • ya recently discovered coz winter and the recent rain had me with a pile of un-ironed shirts.

    • +10

Not only that. You can wear the same shirt all week. Save water washing your shirts.

      • +1

        true ozbargainer!

        • +4

Take this further by cutting the collar of a very good shirt and stitching it on a normal white thsirt. No one will know you're not wearing a shirt.

        • +4

          @fryandlaurie:

Stitch the collar directly to the the jumper. Shirt no longer required.

        • @BartholemewH: or just velcro it so its interchangeable

    • +4

Welcome to the party. Make sure you iron the collar and cuffs though…

    • +7

Can also hang your shirts in the bathroom when you have a hot shower. The steam should de-wrinkle the shirts.

      • +1

Also useful for putting on screen protectors on devices as the steam prevents dust particles from sticking to the screen.

        • sounds like a decent idea, is it a good idea for the phone to be in a steamy environment though?

        • +5

My phone gets involved in steamy situations quite often and doesn't seem to have trouble.

        • @waterlogged turnip:

I'm holding myself back to ask what kind of steamy situations you've been into with your phone

Loved winter during high school days. Never had to iron my shirt. Jumper hid all evidence of my laziness :D

      • You had to iron your shirt in highschool??

        • +8

After carefully reading waterlogged turnip's comment, and giving it considerable thought, I have come to the conclusion that, yes, he/she did iron his shirt when he was attending high school.

        • @smokenmirraz:
          Thanks for the clarification.

Got to checkout and still $39.90? for extra fine merino. Any clues?

  • +2

    in store only special?

  • +1

how is this compare with the hallensteins quality?

    • Yes I'd like to know too. Hallensteins stuff is very thin and I'm hoping this is thicker.

      • This is thinner but Hallensteins is dry clean only I think.

        • Cold wash in the washing machine and air dry, it turned out fine, no shrinking.

        • +1

          @Shue:

I had two which tore after machine washing =(

          Would recommend hand washing only

    • this one is machine washable

  • I'm guessing the $29.90 will only be for women's. The women's RRP was $39.90, men's RRP was $49.90. When the parramatta store opened, they took $10 off for a few week.
Have you got the fine print from the ad? There is an * after the $29.90

    • I think the * refers to the end date (offer ends 8 July)

      • Cheers, should have put glasses on

    • There's no fine print. Pic captures all of the ad - I've got the Daily Telegraph in front of me.

  • +1

Anyone know if it's for Melbourne store aswell?

    • Yes - I just went to the Melbourne Emporium store and bought 3. They seemed to have plenty left in all colours.

Edit: Had plenty for Male, didn't see the Female ones explicitly but can't see why they wouldn't also have plenty left for the Female sizes.

      • the website looks like it doesn't have many colours? What colours were there or did you pick up?

  • I think it's for both men and women, bit misleading if it's women only when the ad displays both genders.

  • +2

Called the Parra store, both genders are on sale!

The website now reflects the sale price.

    • -4

      *para store

      • ?? The store is in Parramatta, Sydney…

  • I got some blended cashmere ones from Japan for around AUD$50 earlier this year. They are fantastic quality for the price and I'm sure these are of proportionately good quality.

    • the cashmere ones are far better

edit: scratch that, just noticed you said blended cashmere (assuming cotton cashmere?), in this case the merino ones hold up better

      • +1

The label is Japanese but it says 100% something (presumably cashmere). I just assumed for $50 it would be blended!

        Putting his kids through uni(qlo)

        • 100% cashmere for $50? Now that's a real deal. They're like $130 here!

    • Are you talking about a different item or the same item? If it's a different item what has it to do with quality of this item?

  • Rage just bought some from Hallensteins…..

  • +1

Bought one of these a month or so ago, they're terrific quality. Handle a machine wash well, only a little bit of piling after a month of regular use. Very comfortable to wear.

Will definitely be picking up a couple.

  • +1

These things redefine slim fit. Good that it's in-store-only because you will want to try a few sizes on first.

    • I was wondering about sizes - I might go in store instead just to be on the safe side

    • So these are not really slim fit? I noticed the male 185cm model is only wearing a size small in the picture of the half zip sweater.

    • As is more or less slim than you would think?

    • Wheres the flippin size guide on the website?

    • +2

These are very slim fitting. There are notices in store advising to buy a size up. You might even want to try two sizes up if you have broader shoulders or larger chest.

      • Read the description on webpage. It tells you height of model in photo and the size the model is wearing. Helps. The one I'm looking at now is a 185cm guy wearing size S. Doesn't look too slim fitting.

        • What makes you believe the photo has anything to do with the true size though?

        • It's a guide.

        • +1

@delfredo: I think the photo is deceptive. The model is quite thin (probably doesn't eat all the Woolworths/Coles weekly junk food catalogue:) and he not actually wearing a shirt underneath and it already looks 'form fitting'. I got one size larger than I usually buy.

    • thank you for this! glad i read your post before i bought anything

    • Isn't the $29.9 price in-store only?

      • No, its online as well.

    • Cash back with the pink.org.au people is 7%

  • I have 3 of these. They are pretty good quality but are quite thin. I've had mine for around 3 months, rotating them during the week as I wear them to work. Recently people have commented on how the pilling is quite visible but I guess that's normal.

  • Thanks got one, not a great choice of colours left though, hurry if you want one….

  • Was thinking of getting a hallenstein then BAM - this come up for $19 delivered. Cheers OP

  • Thanks OP, got 2.

I got a few of the Women's Extra Fine Merino Rib Turtle Neck Sweater last year after winter at $14.90, and they were quite thin, so not as warm as I had hoped.

    • Do you wear them to keep warm? I thought they were used for shirt wrinkles cover up. Just iron the shirt collar.

      • I'm referring to the turtle neck in the same range (extra fine merino)

  • Website's not fully updated. Heattech $14.90 on main page then when select product is still $19.90.

  • Going to check out Melbourne CBD Store tmr, report back on stock.

  • +1

Crap quality. Really is extra fine till you can see though it. Don't expect it to keep you warm.

    • they are great for wearing in the office during winter, they are meant to be thin. no one in their right mind is going to expect them to withstand the melbourne weather, for that you need a wool jacket.
