This will be sold out way before the vouchers are issued.

    • Yeah, most likely. If it doesn't require immediate payment, could you hold off payment tomorrow and use the voucher or is that not possible?

      • Until you complete checkout, another eBay user may buy this item

        • Oh ok so it requires immediate payment then.

        • +1

@BlazinPast: No it doesn't, but stock is only allocated once payment is made. You won't be able to complete checkout if you have the item in your cart but all stock has been exhausted.

  • What voucher and how do I get cash back

  • Just keep in mind this has a Chinese model Number

    • Does that mean it's not Australian stock?

    • I think it still supports all the Australian bands for Telstra and Optus not sure about Vodafone though.

    • +1

That's an eBay misprint. It's genuine Australian stock, just like the other 3 items listed.

    • +1

Yep, like unity1 stated, it's most likely a misprint. I grabbed the item number to find the non-group deal variation and this is the original item description http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161748156546 which is for the Australian model.

    • Just purchased one and model shown on purchase order/invoice is SM-G920IZWAXSA. Model number in listing is a misprint.

  • Is the voucher only for people who spent over $200 previously or if we buy the s6 will they send me a voucher

    • A quick read of the deals and you'd realise it's too late to get the voucher now.

      • Thanks for your help

  • This phone was released like since March 2015, barely made through half year and it dropped like mad?

    • +2

No i see as 600 is fair price for this phone higher means rip off price.

    • S6 had a memory leak problem before.

    • It's not dropping in retail stores so much. Only online deals, imports and coupons.

    • You are absolutely right. This is a fairly new phone. To plummet in price like that is not good on many levels (not just the bad will from customers who bought the product a week ago).

This posting will most probably infuriate either Samsung or Apple fanbois. If you read the Anandtech review of the S6, it's clear that this is the first phone that's come within a stones' throw of an Apple device. Take for example, the colour reproduction: the older models Samsung were heavily over-saturated. If you have the time, read the Anandtech review of the S6 - it's a great read for non-fanbois.

Why did Samsung do this? Because they were being squeezed at the low end of the market and Apple had encroached on their monopoly on phablets. When Apple moved into phablet territory, Apple sold phones in droves at the expense of Samsung. Samsung sales plummeted (check the figures if you doubt me). In return, Samsung moved into Apple's territory to compete. Also, Samsung were being belted by the oneplus one at the low end. In effect, Samsung are being smashed at both ends of the market.

The problem is that Samsung phones are viewed as cheap compared to Apple. There's too much fragmentation of their range and they've never maintained the prestige image that Apple has aimed at (as one of my Samsung friends calls it "Apple arrogance").

So, Samsung went toe to toe with Apple and got smashed. They only had one corner left to back into … price drop. At half the price of Apple's offering, the S6 is an absolute steal. If you're after a value for money phone, I'd most probably pick the S6 over the oneplus one at these prices. My main driver would be that Samsung phones have been reasonably reliable, whereas oneplus one is an unknown quantity.

Sorry about the long post. When I saw nuzby's post below, I felt a logical response was required.

      http://techcrunch.com/2015/03/03/led-by-iphone-6-apple-passe…
      - compare the 2013 v/s 2014 figures. Samsung took a huge hit. When Apple is a premium brand, that's a staggering profit increase.

      • OnePlus One is a great alternative to Samsung at their price point, but I doubt they made a dent against Samsung's low end. They are not a brand with any recognition. You can't walk into a store and buy their product. They are very exclusive, and even those who knew about it had trouble sourcing them, and the masses have never even heard of them. This is a phone for knowledgeable geeks, whereas Samsung's low end is for the uneducated masses. Guess who made more money at the low end? I doubt Samsung considered Oneplus a threat at all.

I would love to see sales figures and pie charts though.

The way I see S6 is, it's functionally and visually no different from their previous phones, except it removed some features people liked and they hiked the price. I'm not sure what part of Apple's 'territory' this phone encroached upon. Is it the metallic case market? Because other brands already have that, like HTC.

Still no phone costs more than iPhone 6+ 128GB which is $1.5k.

    • This isn't a firesale. The RRP is still what it was.

It's a one off sale. If the price was slashed to this across the board, then you'd have a point. Samsung aren't cutting prices. If you go to their website, it's still $1k.

possible officeworks price match? would bring it down to $625.10…

  • How are people still buying this when it has no expandable microSD storage or a removable battery??
runs back to my Note 4….

    • HTC, iPhone, Sony, Nexus don't have those neither. People change phones before the battery is a problem, not everyone need a lot of storage. quick charge and wireless charge are convenient.

      • +1

I guess it would appeal to the apple crowd, though I still reckon Samsung have shot themselves in the foot with the S6. Up to the S5 they've had expandable storage and removable batt.

        • I used to be somewhat of an Samsung fanboy, and expandable storage + replaceable battery were the arguments I'd provide in favour of S4, S5 over Iphones (and I did use to have a battery ready for swapping) but the reality is that's a niche market, and 32gb or 64gb is generally enough storage for the vast majority of users, and the low price of portable mini-chargers which are almost as convenient as a spare battery means that I'm actually totally in favour of the shift in focus to aesthetics on the S6. I also quite liked the water proofing feature of the S5, but again, it's more of a niche gimmick.

        • @tightshang: paying for a 64gb phone is a lot more expensive than buying a 32gb phone with a 32gb card.

        • @lostn: what's funny is that the 64gb is actually cheaper in a few deals lately. Harvey Norman is selling it for $868 at the moment.

      • +1

HTC and Sony's latest flagship phones definitely do have micro SD card slots. It's a lot less of a niche market than removable batteries.

        • ah ok, then it is only Samsung, Nexus and iPhone.

        • Sony include it more often than not.

The m8 and m9 have it too though with htc it's 50/50.

This is the first Samsung phone that I can remember without expandable storage.

  • Can someone who owns an S6 tell me if they partitioned the internal memory to simulate an SD card? I've owned a number of 32GB phones with no SD card slot, and all of them make 2GB available as "internal storage" and partition the rest into "SD card". The phone thinks there is an SD card inserted, and you only have 2GB to install apps onto which is not enough.

Previous Samsung phones which allowed SD cards did not do this. All of the internal memory was available for apps.

    • On my Note 4 all the memory is partitioned as Internal Storage. But I do have an SD slot though.

      • So yes that is a different scena0

  • I bought this phone from kogan ebay 2 days ago. Do you think I can ask then to cancelled my order and get a refund?

    • if it is not shipped yet, i dont see why not.

      • Should i message them via ebay or can i call them to cancel?

        • id be calling them

  • :) remind me again, how much was it when the release the product coup months ago ?

    • +1

$999. An insanely high price. Interesting to see it plummet so quickly, guess the edge variant is the more exclusive, popular one.

      • thats my point exactly… i dont know its samsung or android who made the price drop so quickly…. i have my motorola motog dual simcard, didnt cost me more than 200 bucks, and its really fast, eventhou it didnt come with wireless charging system,, oh well… i dont need it anymore… i still dont get why ppl want to spend more than 300 bucks for android phone…

        1. the price will drop really fast
        2. you cant drop it.. otherwise the screen cost you fortune….
        3. if you want to sell it, not many ppl want it as many as iOS device.

i dont hate android, i use it myself.. but the price,,,,,, its not worth it…

        • There will always be people who will pay a premium for exclusivity/bleeding edge tech. Samsung cashes in on these guys, apple's prices are kept high for perceived value. That's why people will only pay a fortune for NEW samsung models and demand will always be high for discounted apple products since their msrp is strictly controlled by apple. This is a new pricing strategy for Samsung. Until now, only their note phones retailed for a grand, s4 and s5 were both around $800 on launch.

I buy my phones when the discounts are high and the prices are not going to move for months. The last ebay deal gave me a Note edge for $650.

The point is, people who spend over a thousand on a phone buys it for that exact reason… to be seen with a thousand dollar phone. Apple is the preferred brand since it stays expensive for longer. Today's society is all about 1 upping each other… so yes it's worth it to alot of people today.

  • Its sad that they waited till the day after the 20% offer expired to list a whole new pricing for this phone.

Atleast offer it for this price during the sale to compete with TGG/DS now they have given me a very sour flavor of there sales techniques.

  • Not a change these will last until tomorrow for the $50 voucher

  • yes this one doesnt have sdcard but i think as long you buy the 64gb version that should be fine, i rarely fill up my 32gb sdcard, but i definitely need more than 25gb.

  • I have a Cash Reward acc but how do I go through to this deal with the Cash Reward site to get the extras 2% ?

  • I need the link to the S6 not the GoPro

  • Thanks for the link man I must be stupid cant find the link.

Is this available in black? or just white only?

    • white only

    • +1

White is actually better as it hides the finger print better, not as obvious as the black one.

  • Thank aldoduco and OP, just brought one. Being sitting on the fence for so long finally upgrade from a S3.

Now need a simple clear flexible case to go with it. Any recommendation for quick delivery? Prefer some one in Aust

    • go to ebay.com.au, type in clear flexible case s6, filter for seller from australia. sort by price and postage lowest. done.

  • I ended up buying the S5 intead for $507 when there was 20% off
S5 take a extra micro SD memory and its waterproof/dust.
    Not like the S6

  • +1

Wow, price dropped over 40% in less than 3 months?

  • What's the warranty like on this product? There's not many Bing Lees around Victoria. If something goes wrong, do you have to go all the way to the store?

    • or with Samsung australia

  • sold out / expired

  • Deal is now sold out

  • +3

Phew! Thank God it ran out. I don't need another phone :)

  • Was tempting, but I didn't need a new phone anyway…

  • +2

Well got it price matched at Officeworks.

Ended up costing bit over $550.

    • +1

      $550 BARGAIN!

    • lol really? which Officeworks? Can you send us a copy of the receipt?

      • I highly doubt it.

    • +1

How? It should have come to $625 with 5% off. Congratulations if you did get it at $550

      :-)

  • I used 4 × 100 Coles Myer gift cards purchased through Liquorland via the AMEX deal and the rest was paid via the 5% cashback through the Citibank promo.

So saving $60 through the giftcards and $6.25 through pay wave. Brisbane northside store.

  • Any one has their phone shipped yet? Never order from Bing Lee before. Do they let you know when they send it?

    • Yes, mine has been received. Based in Melbourne.

      • They haven't shipped mine yet

      • Have they marked it as sent on eBay?

        • Yes, and my orders arrived through Australia Post

        • @unity1: oh ok. Thanks. They haven't sent mine yet. I'm in Melbourne too. The listing said estimated delivery by next Monday so I hope I'll get by then.

        • @ironsword: Bing lee just messaged me back saying there was a delay due to unforeseen number of orders received and will ship my order using express shipping tomorrow.

        • No not yet. 3 days now

        • @farnkie:

LOL, how can it be "unforeseen" when they capped it at 200….

  • $38.71 at Dick Smith for those looking for a genuine s view case

  • This is bullshit, 3 days and still not ship yet. Was hoping i get it by the weekend no hope now. Rang them today, they said to many order to full fill and wont be shipping them at the earliest tomorrow or Monday WTF.

    • Looks like they are processing orders in the order they were received, which is good to see. I placed my order not long after the deal went live.

  • The people who got their phone now, can you please tell me is there any branding on the phone at all ie Telstra/Optus blah blah?

  • Those who bought, can you confirm that this was indeed Australian stock, not grey import, and 2 year warranty with Samsung?

  • Got a temando tracking number today. Says it's awaiting pickup.

    • I also got a tracking number today and it still says awaiting pickup

      • Mine says picked up on temando website & in transit on auspost

  • So no one know what branding this phone has?

    • Haven't received mine yet but given by SM-G920IZWAXSA, it's Australian unbranded (XSA).

  • If unbranded then we get the update from Google first before any Carrier gets their?

  • Has anyone else's S6 been stuck at Chullora NSW for the last few days?

    • Mine was delivered today. Tracking says it was at Chullora on Sunday and Sunshine west on Monday.

      • Thanks, checking mine it was at Chullora since Saturday morning, finally processed through Sunshine West today. Hopefully will come soon.
