      • I have an AmEx plat edge. For places that don't accept AmEx I've just been using my debit card hence why I asked…

What do you mean by linked card though? This doesn't say it's an ANZ AmEx, just an ANZ QFF if anything.

        • The listing & link both show it's AMEX "linked" cards.

        • I just activated my cards today. You get two cards (one AmEx and one VISA) and they are linked to the same account.

e.g. you spend $10 on either of them and it will appear on your one statement at the end.

  • Got this from NAB, cards arrived last night. Only $300 spend required.
Their offer advises 50,000 points gets me to L.A. (plus ~$460 taxes).
Going by the rewards-suggestions here, is this just one way??

You can login to the Qantas FF portal and use the calculator.

MEL - LAX is 48K points one way so yes.

      • WOW that is amazing!!!

        But atm I m getting 108000 return Mel-LAX.

  • approved next day without anything asked.

    Thanks op

  • Has anyone get the qantas lounge passes before? Do I have to fly with Qantas in order to get in with the lounge passes?

    Thanks

    • Yes. You must be on an outbound sector with a Qantas (domestic only: or Jetstar) boarding pass.

  • To spend the 3k I could just buy a 3.3k woolworths wish gift card at 5% off, right?

    Sweet. Thanks op.

  • Hi guys,
I want to get this card and book flight through Singapore Airlines and hotel through Agoda. Both accept PayPal. Do you know if i will be charged foreign currency conversion fee if I pay through PP.
    Thanks in advance.

You will get foreign currency charge if you are paying in foreign currency

      • Thanks bilbster. An ANZ employee confirmed that I won't be charged any fees if the final amount is shown in AUD. That's the case with Agoda, so no fees for booking hotels through them.

  • I have a bill of $3800 for rent a month, will this work?

    • -1

Only if one of your rental payment methods accepts Amex.

  • Are people getting the platinum or the black? $3000 is a stretch not sure i'll be able to cover it.

Book a hotel on Expedia.com for a year or so in advanced that says it is fully refundable and you can pay upfront.
Once you get the points, cancel the hotel.

      • I guess an aussie one to avoid fx fees? Feels quite scary to do it, worry there might be a catch and backfires! I wonder can you just withdraw 3k from ATM or something?

  • Anyone know how long it takes for the bonus points to be added?

  • If you buy a business class ticket (ie., 6 months away) then cancel, I would assume that once the ticket is cancelled Qantas/ANZ would deduct your 50k bonus points. Has anyone previously successfully done this trick and actually worked rather than hypothesizing.

Also, for those that want to withdraw 3k from ATM, this would not work. The T&C says that's considered a cash advance and won't count towards the 3k spend.

Further, paying of bills via BPAY also doesn't count towards your spend.
