• Thanks, I was wondering as the presale date said 31/7 so the sooner the better:)

• No confirmation email here. Although my GB account has the order history as payment confirmed

• Looks like everyone who successfully ordered two or more is getting refunded, I ordered (and paid) for two but was emailed with the choice of canceling the whole order or paying full price for the extra one :(

• +1

IMO that's really poor form from GB I mean anything more than buying 2 maybe an issue, but I almost pulled the trigger (till I found out about no GB Lan and it will struggle with netflix HD).

The point is I was going to purchase 2 in the same order, one for my uncle and father, I'm sure many others were purchasing on someones behalf as well. So If GB were fair, maybe asking those who purchased to pay additional shipping would have been reasonable for a max quantity of 2.

Because the quantity was not restricted was their mistake and realistically no different to multiple emails (people) being used for purchases. If I went through with my order and there was a quantity restriction I would of gotten my uncle to purchase it instead of do it on his behalf and I'm sure many people who purchased multiple are in this position .

Just trying to help someone out, being fair and reasonable.

• When the promotion is run again soon you'll be able to order the second one. They're going to make sure that the 1 per person is made very clear too.

• Not sure if what I said was unclear or you just didn't read it properly, I didn't make a purchase at all because this unit was fount not to be gigabit LAN. I was about to purchase 2 one for my uncle and one for my father until I read that it was incorrectly described (I believe even you thought it was gigabyte at one point).

So when the promotion come's up again and if it is Gigabyte LAN and can handle netflix HD I would need to purchase 2.

So saying I'll be able to order a second one and there will be a limit to one per person made more clear is just as convoluted and consistent a statement as GB's handling of this error and misinformed item specification's.

• @yacman: Yeah sorry I didn't read it properly.

From my understanding it's going 1 per person next time, but I'd have to clarify with Geekbuying. I'd have to ask if it's going to be GB LAN aswell.

• +1

I still haven't heard back from GB in regards to anything other than they have successfully debited my account, seems at this point its the only thing they can do right.

Also, where does it say 1 per customer? I won 50% and no mention of T&C applying.

• I also would like to know whether anyone has had their unit shipped out?

• They had assumed people would realise that it was 1 per person as the codes were sent to you and unique, unlike the other coupons shared around here and their site. Obviously they were mistaken.

• +1

Yes, unique code for order. Not unique code for item. There assumpion is entirely flawed and at this point it makes no sense based on all the correspondance. Companies whom make these kinds of assumptions without honouring agreements don't deserve to be trading within Australia, in my honest opinion.

• +1

They obviously realise that now. Unfortunately the entire Chinese industry is not aware of how things operate here, but it'll slowly get better.

• +2

@Clear: How will it get better? By claiming responsibility on the consumer? By claiming ignorance? By not honoring commitments? By having multiple specifications listed and correcting after payment? By asking for more funds after payment has been confirmed? I'm sorry, but without them honoring the transactions already transpired, there is no way things will improve. There has been zero accountability on their behalf and this only indicates they're not wanting to improve the culture clash differentiation with consumer satisfaction and customer service.

I won't be dealing with them again and when they finally decide to reply to me, I will be canceling my transaction (Not that they will care).

• @fluberries:

• Specs on product page were listed as 10/100 LAN, but promotional images were listed as Gigabit. Customers can cancel order at any time and wait for GB version.
• Not specifying that 1 per person was a mistake, so customers were contacted and given the option for refund, pay extra for additional items or cancel order
• All orders are honoured, but only 1 per person
• First 500 orders shipped first and everyone else with next batch

So what's the problem?

• @Clear: I'm yet to receive any contact. Said this numerous times, that's my problem…. Other than the numerous other ones I meantioned

You needing to ask me that questions really illustrates the WHOLE problem to me.

• @fluberries: You mentioned that they had debited your account, so you've ordered one?

What else do you want to know?

• +1

@Clear: My list of things I'm wanting to know:

I ordered mine when it said 'in stock', should I have assumed that this would be a batch next month?
There was plenty of stock a couple of days ago and they stopped the 'special' to ensure they didn't sell more than the stock they had. So how is there a stock shortage?(Don't worry, there will be a couple extra available soon).
I emailed days ago asking when my order will be shipped, when will I receive my reply?
I ordered two items, when will I get told if my order will be honoured?
If my transaction isn't honoured, when will I be offered a refund? My transaction was a week ago.
Are having multiple specifications listed deemed appropriate for a company that apparently values customer service and doesn't want to be misleading?
Also, I asked how these types of dealings would get better and I would still like to know the basis for your claim.
Other than the infuriatingly repetitious claim it was a 'fair assumption customers should have known better' I thank you for help.

• +1

@fluberries:

• It was in stock for the first 500 orders and after that they set it to presale, so at the time of your order it could have been between the time they went and changed it.
• I made the deal expired here, because it had gone to presale status because the first batch of 500 had been sold. I did not want any additional orders to be made because people would likely miss the presale status and complain.
• You typically receive a response within 3 business days when ordering.
• I would assume there are a lot of people that need to be emailed about ordering 2 or more ontop of customer service's stack of other emails. My recommendation is to email [email protected] with your order number. You'll likely get a response quicker that way.
• I don't know the exact reason why it listed 2 different specifications. I think it was more of a simple oversight than them deliberately misleading customers. Mistakes do happen.
• This deal is an example to Geekbuying on how to improve. I pass on all of the feedback here to my contacts at Geekbuying in an attempt to make things go better in the future. When I post deals myself I ensure that stock levels etc are good.

I completely agree with the statement about how we should have known better. I think GB staff themselves will probably try to get them to make it more clear in the future. Communication between myself and Geekbuying.

• +1

No shipping conformation yet, I used the 40% coupon and paid extra for express shipping. Hope I don't have to wait till August for delivery because it says out of stock now.

• Seems there is a high likelihood of this.

• I emailed GB about my order. They said item will ship between 3-7 days. Tomorrow is a week so not really holding breathe for it to be shipped.

• +1

They were saying 31/07 for backorders, I hope we won't have to wait that long.

• Usually 3-7 business days ;)

• Orders will be shipped out from Monday depending on who ordered first etc. I will find out more information tomorrow.

• So did you get more information yet?

• +1

The first 500pcs had an initial delay as Geekbuying wanted to ship them out with firmware that was just released by Tronsmart. If that wasn't you then you'll be the next batch shipping from Aug 1 unfortunately, but on a plus side that will have GB ethernet.

• Can you tell from my order number, if I'm in the first 500?

• @lonix: Yep.

• @Clear:
Sent you PM

• I got a mail from geekbuying and it said

We are sorry to inform you that the item you ordered " R68 " is for pre-sell, it will be launched on 7-31 st
please do not worry. Once it's available, we will ship it to you as soon as possible.

appears to be true, unless someone already has got theirs.

• that sucks! Should we neg the vote? the link says released http://promotion.geekbuying.com/promotion/tronsmart_r68_rele… and the marketer 'Clear' claimed that they have it plenty in stock

• I will be neg'ing it if my order is not sent by tomorrow.

• -3

Deal was posted on other sites long before it was here. Orders are first come first serve.

• Yes disappointing if on backorder when should be available as stated.

• States that it's presale currently, but if you were one of the first 500 then it should be shipped very soon.

• Thanks for keeping everyone in the loop.

• I try my best to keep everyone in the loop, but I know people are going to be angry at me very soon when they realise they're not in the first 500. I don't even expect myself to be in the first 500 either.

• +1

@Clear:

Oh well. Cant please everyone.

Hopefully those that miss out on the first 500 get the gigabit version. Time will tell.

• Deal has over 3000 clicks and was posted all over the internet. It's very possible that a lot of you (including me) were not the first 500pcs. As it has stated before the deal was marked as expired, the remainder will be shipped from the 1st of Aug.

• Is it possible that we will get the gigabit version now?

• Maybe those who has not gotten sipping confirmation by now will get the gigabit version, as their unit will be shipped later?

• +1

That would be my guess, but I'll ask and should have an answer this afternoon/night.

• That would be very nice

• +3

@wheresthebeef: First 500 are going to be 10/100 and anything after are GB. The first 500 are currently receiving a firmware update before shipping otherwise people will be given a buggy version of Android ;)

• @Clear:

Is it possible to request a delay so I don't get one of the first 500?

• @foobar: Email [email protected] and they'll sort you out.

• @Clear:

I think support is about to get a lot of emails.

• @Clear:

Okay done, will report back on response should I ever actually get one.

• @foobar: Should be within 3 days. I would imagine they have a lot of emails to go through.

• I was told that shipping will not commence before 31st July…I placed order on 14th July could it be because mine not in first 500 pcs?

• That is correct.

• As long as orders don't get cancelled or they ask for more $$ due to the next batch having gigabit

• Err yep I'd rather wait forgot a GB one :)

• +3

This deal looks to have been a massive stuff up all around.

I placed my order before their was a presale tag on the website. If it had been labeled as a presale I wouldn't have bothered. Or if this post had said that other websites had priority I wouldn't have bothered. I paid for express shipping as I wanted the item within a reasonable time from when I ordered. But it looks like I will be lucky to receive it within 3 weeks of placing the order.

It's going to take a ridiculous bargain in future before I would consider risking another purchase from Geek Buying.

• -1

Other websites are not getting priority. There is no way to determine who came from what site without asking everyone. This promotion had been posted on other sites by other people before it was posted here. It's very possible that 100, 200… 500? orders had been made before it was posted here. I really have no idea, but the first 500 orders of each will get theirs first etc. I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered one with express shipping and have to wait until August for mine. There is no special treatment here for me.

Normally when I post deals I make sure I specify if there are limited pieces or 1 per person etc. If I had control over the promotion I would have done the following:

• Made it very clear that it was 1 per person
• Limited both versions to 500pcs rather than 'Adequate Stock'
• Removed or changed the promotional images about the GB LAN and make it blatant that first 500 are 10/100

I hope they have learnt from this and won't make the same mistakes again and this will definitely not happen if I'm going to be posting the deals.

For everyone else. Feel free to contact sales at [email protected] if you don't want to wait and have your order cancelled and refunded.

• +1

If 500 were sold before the deal was even posted here, than every order would be a pre-order for the next batch and it didn't mention anywhere between first seeing the deal on this site and paying for it at checkout that there was even a possibility that this deal was just a pre-order and we would be waiting so long for the order to even be shipped.

• -1

So then it's more than likely that the first 500 pcs had not been sold out then by the time it had been posted here…

• This deal looks to have been a massive stuff up all around.

really?
I think its been a great deal assuming the orders ship within a reasonable time frame (of which I don't think being a china based seller we are anywhere near exceeding yet)..

Latest 64-bit android media player at a really good price.
If its popular enough to get posted on places like sickdeals and a large number of orders occur, just because you need to wait a few extra weeks to get the item isnt enough to call it a 'massive stuff up'…

It's going to take a ridiculous bargain in future before I would consider risking another purchase from Geek Buying

why do people think comments like this are some kind of threat or bargaining tool? if you won't buy the next bargain, someone else will

• +1

Look at how many people are unhappy with them in here alone. I'm willing to bet many wouldn't bother with Geek Buying again under any circumstances. Some (like myself) would only bother if the deal was good enough that the inevitable month or so wait is worth it.

How many are going to be satisfied customers who decide to become regular customers for them to make money from?

They should be concerned if the only way customers are willing to buy from them again is when they have an incredible deal that likely returns very little profit.

• Look at how many people are unhappy with them in here alone

I see a few vocal complainers but considering they sold well over 500 I think those are in the minority, whereas the rest are happy to wait for the very well priced android media player to arrive. (I dont see the same complaining over on freaktab for instance)

If at that time there are issues, or a month passes and no items have been shipped them I am sure Clear will get some complaints.. Until then, chillax

• +3

@SBOB:

What does another websites lack of complaints have to do with the issues we are facing on this site?

You think people have no right to express their disappointment that the item they have ordered and paid express shipping for has later not been a purchase but a pre-order? Wben they were not informed at any point that the item had sold out and that this would be from a later shipment?

If it had been marked as a pre-sale item to begin with, then atleast we have all the facts available when making the purchase. For instance I wouldn't have wasted that extra money on express shipping. I might not have ordered at all.

But making the purchase, paying extra for express shipping and then later being told that you actually aren't going to get an item from the first batch is just not good enough IMO.

Likewise the dodgy dealings with multiple items aren't good enough. There was nothing saying there was a limit of 1 discounted item per person. I only ordered 1 item so it's not an issue for me. but the details keep changing AFTER people have ordered and that's just not good enough.

People had false information while maki g the decision to purchase. They might have purchased differently or not at all if we had the right facts to begin with.

So stop telling people to be chillax when they were working with false information. That's not even including the people who purchased the item thinking it had GigabitLAN and then had that information corrected at a later stage.

I'm sorry but this to me is an extremely poor experience all round.

• @mxlegend99:

I'm sorry but this to me is an extremely poor experience all round.

Then cancel your order and forget about it.. If the misinformation, the shipping delays or poor experience is SOOOOOOO complaint worthy..
Why would you want to get a product from such a 'dodgy' seller?

• +1

I have finally received a reply from [email protected] telling me the order was for pre-sale (clearly wasn't). However, there was no mention about my order having multiple units under the one discount code. Therefore, have they decided to honor multiple purchases?

• That would be because it was an error by not clearly stating 1 per person. Exactly like a pricing error.

• I'm sorry, that doesn't answer my question. Are they or aren't they honoring multiple purchases? There was no mention of it. I would hate to wait 6 weeks to get one unit for the amount I paid.

• They will only honour 1 item per person.

• @Clear: So it's up to the consumers to chase their money back for any additional units?

• @fluberries: If they don't contact you first, then yes.

• +1

@Clear: Of course, clearly another fine example of a company devoted to customer satisfaction.

• @fluberries: That's what happens when you deal with China and you should know that customer satisfaction has always been an issue. Geekbuying is no where near as bad as that compared to Gearbest for example. Just look at their past and you'll see.

• @Clear:

actually i've bought 5 items from gearbest and have not had a problem and my items were always shipped straight away with no delay, the last time being car cameras for a cheap price also which i ordered 2 units. arrived on time with no problem.

• @hippyhippy: I recommend you look at the shower speaker incident ;) I purchased that dash cam too and a lot of us had our orders delayed by several weeks due to a stock shortage. Gearbest didn't contact us individually to let us know, but someone was decent enough to mention it in the comments. Their "Australia Line" shipping also took 4 weeks instead of the advertised ~5 days.

I'm not saying they're completely bad, but they seem to have a lot more issues than Geekbuying does.

• +4

why not either
- wait until they start shipping the orders and see what happens; or
- cancel your entire order as clearly you don't want to deal with such a 'shambolic' company

• Thanks for the advice. I have requested to cancel my order as there have been far too many issues. The money possibly saved is no where near worth all the frustrations.

• +2

They'll be holding the promotion again sometime, so if you ever change your mind…. I can't guarantee that it'll not be a disaster though ;)

• @Clear: I'm still waiting for the update on when this sale is starting again? and I'm beginning to think it won't be for the same price?!

• @yacman: I have no idea when the promotion will be and for how much. It has not been decided by GB/TM as far as I'm aware.

• @Clear: You previously said the deal was canceled well before it was due to expire (today) and that they will be back with one shortly, I thought mainly due to the multiple discounted orders in one? I'm going to be quite annoyed if they don't come back with the same deal once they "fix" the issues in their system allowing multiple purchases with one voucher/account.

• @yacman: I had it expired on Ozb early because the first 500 had gone already and it was going to become presale. GB told me they would run the promotion again "soon" but have given me no ETA on that. Their promotion and prices are not up to me.

• @Clear: It was never originally known to be a pre-sale though? Point is I'm doubtful I will be purchasing from them after this fiasco most people in this thread thought they purchased gigabyte and they didn't whos to say next time I purchase the same won't happen to me

• @yacman: It was never a presale in the first place. Originally there were 500pcs, but they sold out quickly, so it went to presale. I had this deal made expired sometime afterwards.

• +5

I always go after my refunds never trust anyone who owes you a refund and I think most would have have used PAYPAL, so not a huge issue.
The deal was going to run until the 23rd no units would have been shipped at least until 30th
Standard 7 days wait when ordering from China is common.
The Lan was a mistake was corrected as soon as I (OP) had info.
The only problem really was the multiple orders and who hasn't been OZBargained before with that one.
A good bargain was had and worked to its fullest. 800 units were sold so it was pretty big.

• +5

I don't mind waiting if it means I am getting the lastest version with GB LAN.

• -1

not going to happen.. first 500 orders are for USB 2.0 and 10/100 NIC. Delivery should be after end of July, supposedly the updated model will be on discounted offer in August (and assume another 2-4 weeks lead time / presale).

• Ok. So what about orders 501 onwards that were paid for before the sale was stopped.

• +1

Every order after 500 will get the GB LAN.

• +2

@Clear:

No sign of mine being shipped yet. This must be the first time I'm actually hoping for an order to be delayed. :-)

• @NoPantsToday: Might be safe to say that this disaster has turned out to be better than expected?

• @Clear:

LOL.

Way I'm seeing it is if it's shipped as the first batch, I got a neat unit for a solid price. If it's not, then I get a slight upgrade as a bonus for a slight delay.
With the TNT shipping I'll probably get the delayed one at roughly the same time as it would take for free shipping on the original. Not really seeing much of a downside for me. :D

• @Clear:

Any chance of tell us what was the order no for unit no 501? I want to check if mine is after no. 500.

• @Clear:

Yeah that was my point to the comment. Thanks

• @trump3: Would be too hard to tell if I did as Geekbuying receives a lot of orders every day.

• @Clear: I got the shipping email just then. does that mean I'm on the first batch?

• @bluepanther: I'll find out tomorrow as mine got marked as shipped too.\

• +1

I received email notice 2 hours ago my order is on it's way, will notify here when it arrives.

• +1

Just received my shipping confirmation. It is shipped from Singapore with tracking no, eventhough I chose free shipping. Should take about 1 week to reach.

• Good to see shipping is happening.
2 days after the sale was Due to finish.(The things that happen when you get OZbairganied. :-)
Cant complain to much about that.

• Mine's shipped too via TNT. Est delivery Monday. I was initially told pre-order and would ship after 31/7. So, good that it's coming, not so good that it probably won't be a Gigabit one… Ah well, the price was good.

• +2

This is what it says on the website product page:

"The first 500pcs has sold out. The next batch of R68 Meta will ship on August 1st."

Well I guess I got the non-GB version. Doesn't really matter to me cause my internet connection is only ADSL2+. The price is too good to complain.

• Just received a shipping confirmation. It's with Singapore Post. Another email from support saying my order was within the first shipment of GB version. Will update this post when I receive it.
