At least they're charging closer to what they're worth.

I don't mind Van Heusen shirts for work wear. The European cut looks decent.
I never pay RRP though. I only ever buy them online during a sale or from Myer during a sale.

For this price they are OK but you can get a far better quality shirt for $40 from CT and get far more size options to make sure it fits your body right.

        • +1

Absolutely CT. Far - I mean FAR - better quality than VH.
          (CT as in ctshirts.com.au)

          @ocoolio: CT?

@lochiebags: ctshirts.com.au but make sure you wait until you can find a URL or coupon for $40 shirts. Measure yourself up carefully using their fit guides and order a few shirts all with different sleeve and chest combos. You get a return sticker with free postage for returns so you can return the ones that don't fit.

Note that they have a range of types of cotton they use for shirts, some is quite thin and light and others are thick. So far it's been trial and error for me but it works out well as they just become summer and winter shirts!

Their ties and shoes are top notch too.

        • I'll have to give them a try. Thanks for the tip!

        • @cymon: i tried getting from them but i dont know the sizes, like whats the same as VH euro cut?

        • @Jack42:
Did you measure yourself and look at their size guide?

      • Yeah, the Euro cut looks decent and personally these are ones for a work day since I find the slim fit slightly uncomfy… Bargain at this price and well worth it.

I'm not mad about CT - i find the sizes aren't quite right for me personally

I ordered a super slim and it was bigger than a VH Classic Fit. Im' not 100% confident they sent me the right shirt if I'm being honest…even though it was labelled correct

Anyone have experience with the CT slim fit shirts?

        • This is very unusual as VH Classic/Business swims on me and I can only pinch out ~5cm shirt around my chest on the CT Extra Slim. If you want slimmer than CT Extra Slim check out Geoffrey Beene Body Fit, but they retail for $90 so you really need a good sale!

I'd recommend you manually measure the CT shirt and compare it to their size guide.

    • I'm like my (similar? but… certainly: 100% Cotton shirt fr CostCo:

      • CostCo's Kirkland ~$20 shirts

(white come in plastic bags; other colors don't)

As these are made in Indonesia, I'm almost a "Localvor" buying them. ;-)

PS When I bought some, they were ~$14 each :-)

  • $9.95 shipping unless over $100

  • VH shirts suck. bad fitting, bad material and bad designs.
Would rather pay a bit more for better quality ones.

    • The fit doesn't mean they're bad for everyone, I personally find them quite good.
I can't wear some shirts that are the same size due to the tailoring.

      • i cant buy shirts and pants online, sizes are like all over the place.

    • I agree, terrible quality and feel. $25 is a stretch.

just noticed….Buy 5 shirts and pay for 4 on VH with FREE shipping….

Subscribe to mail list of VH and get $20 OFF on your first purchase over $60….so now,

    $25 X 5 shirts = $125
    Coupon discount $20
that makes Total: $105 eligible for free shipping.

    • +5

That equates to $21 dollar per shirt. If you don't wanna buy too much… but still wanna get a bargain, read below:

If you buy 3 instead of 5 shirts, its not that much difference (+$0.65 per shirt).
      $25 X 3 shirts = $75
      Coupon discount $20
      that makes Total: $55, shipping + $9.95
Comes down to $21.65 per shirt.

(But buying 4 shirts will end up to be $22.49 including the coupon discount)

      OR

You can just buy the 5 shirts, and return say 4 shirts, and you'll get your bargain on the one shirt you kept. But imo, its too much effort for that!

  • This site's a let down for me, much better to just go into a Harris Scarfe or even a Myer when they're on sale. 2 for $50 is the norm for the regular fits.

  • Designs are all rather dull. Van Heusen used to have some decent looking shirts.

  • +3

They had a much better range when they used to be known as the mens shop. Since they've gone van heusen only, I've stopped buying from them.
Having said that, the majority of shirts I bought from TMS were van heusen. Go figure. :S

    • TMS was awesome.
      Now I go to iconic.

  • Anyone know where to get some good slim fit shirts?

I'm a slim build and XS from YD/Tarotrash fits me really well, anything similar to that?

    • +1

David Jones label at David Jones - between $25 and $30 right now

    • Ralph Lauren is probably the brand I've been the happiest with. If I buy a medium slim fit casual shirt, I know it will fit me. And their shirts actually look good with vibrant colours.
Ben Sherman I have a lot of trouble with. They have too many different fits and I never know if I need a medium or a large.
Boss Orange and Tommy Hilfiger are quite good, too.

I bought Van Heusen shirts in the US over 2 years ago and even though I wear them once a week they have not faded, the fabric is great and they still look pretty damn good.

Wish I could say the same about the ones available here.

The colours and designs on those US shirts are not to be found in any Van Heusen collection here

  • With the $20 new account discount i got 5 shirts delivered for $115. Mix of casual, business and polo.
might not be the best but cant complain for that…

  • No emails for the $20 coupon?

  • It's just a code VH15
