        • @tendollar: Funfact: A menstrual period is when a woman's testosterone levels most closely resemble that of a man's. So if you're calling them moody… I don't know what to say dude.

        • -1

          @GateauBoeuf:
Testosterone has little to do with mood and plays different roles in males and females. Having similar levels of the male hormone in a female and male means nothing considering that testosterone is one of the lesser important drivers in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

Not a freebie, requires purchase of another adult meal…

    • +3

True point jb I'll remove the freebie, only says 2 adults must dine no minimum mentioned the second person has to spend, post may be pulled anyway had no idea about the b'day list on OB ^

      • +1

2 adults must dine, how about sharing the b'day meal?

        • +1

How about both going with free vouchers doesn't say you can't in the terms lol (roguewolf is going blind ignore comment)

        • +6

          @RogueWolf:

doesn't say you can't in the terms lol

          Yes it does…

Minimum 2 adults must dine. Not valid with any other offer. A maximum of one voucher may be used per table

        • @jv: damn you JV lol

        • Yer not a freebie

        • +10

          @jv:
It's a good thing I like to sit at different tables to my wife.

        • What if the adults sit at separate tables and dine?

          (edit: comment above beat me!)

  • +1

when you sign up to there

    Where?

    • +4

      There.

  • +1

My only complaint is the steaks are less then stellar and the sauces taste like gravox. The rest of the menu is better.

  • On your birthday go here then go to ribs and rump!

  • The burgers are better at outback jacks?

  • "minimum two adults must dine", does that include the person with the free meal voucher? or does it mean two additional paying adults must accompany the free diner?

    • It means minimum 2 adults must dine. Not 3..

  • Hmm it seems like most NSW stores are located in more remote places (good for the locals though… but seriously, Penrith and Blacktown are all so far away)

  • +16

I went there two years ago on my birthday with seven other people. I was told that everyone at the table had to purchase a full meal in order for me to redeem my voucher. As it was lunchtime, and some people wanted the lunchtime specials, I couldn't use it. I instantly got angry and ripped up the voucher in front of the waitress and gave her a fright, which I felt bad about, but it just goes to show how deceitful companies can be with these vouchers. Afterwards, I complained, of course, and all I was told was to come back in and try again. Nope! I refused to return, and to this day, I have kept my word, despite receiving these vouchers each year.

    • +4

      You're not missing much.
      Low grade steaks at best.

      • +4

Agreed. Went there once, terribly overpriced and very mediocre food/service. I personally wouldn't be considering returning apart from the potential of a free meal. Just have to rope a sucker in to buy a full priced dinner alongside me, haha.

    • +1

      wow. thanks for the review/
now i know i have to call first and ask for term and condition of using the voucher.

  • +2

I'm sure this place use to be called Lonestar

From my experience and my parents on two different occasions it was terrible @ Mermaid 4218

But that doesn't mean someone else may like it and other joints may be better.

    • +1

Damn, I was just thinking of giving Mermaid a shot because Southport is so bad, but I guess I'll give it a miss completely. I loved it when Mermaid was Lonestar - the peanuts were awesome! :)

      • +3

hahah yer the Peanuts were the only good thing. I wouldn't waste my time on this joint to be perfectly honest

    • Outback Jacks took over a number of stores @ 5 years ago.

      • +2

And it didn't help with the quality of food and service

  • +1

Interesting the Southport (Gold Coast) location is listed as 'Franchise Available' on the locations page of the website… It's in such a great spot on the water, but I've been twice and it's just not good (service and food). Whenever I pass it I always think what a shame. They're on Groupon a lot, so I guess they've finally run it into the ground.

    • +1

Really any place that uses these Groupon, Living Social B1G1F etc are not doing well. Exception for newly opened places to get their name out there

  • the 2nd email (2nd meal) changes to one free main course item up to $35 as opposed to $35 in one meal.

  • +1

Found for the 6 month birthday that 4 people had to dine.

  • +2

steaks are terrible and mash is that stuff you get in a packet!

  • +2

Been to the one at Chullora/Greenacre NSW. Worst place ever. My mums barramundi was fishy and off. My steak was dry and rubbery despite ordering medium-rare. They even offered me a free drink on my next visit because the waitress saw my mum left the whole fish to be thrown out. It was that bad I didn't even bother to go just for the free drink. I'm surprised they are still surviving.

  • Hmm, why do they need my address…

  • It seems to be an Australian knock-off of a US Australian-themed fast-restaurant chain. Tastes as bad as it sounds.

And how do they get away with saying FREE when you have to pay?

  • One, they don't send you anything

Two, there is a reason the restaurants are always empty

I wouldn't waste my time. It is actually a very decent restaurant in my opinion IF the franchisee's back-doored stock from a decent butcher and learnt how to cook. Can't fault the rest of the concept though.

  • Isn't this listed on the birthday treats list?

  • +5

had a scoopn deal a few years back… worst steak i ever had.
less than considerate staff who said something to the effect of "what do we expect when we use a voucher". My plate was half full of gristle before we got up and walked out.

Not a place I'll ever go back to.

  • +1

Good deal, thanks for sharing! Their steak is pretty bad, ribs are standard. But the chicken wings are not bad.

  • +1

have to agree to really bad steak, and BBQ ribs.
Makes a bad name to outback 'steakhouse australia with similar the name xD
Normal price, I wouldn't go there.
Even after the discounted price, I wouldn't go there again.
Not worth it, my experience for cheap(but not really) and cheerful (but not really) at the following stores:

    1. my birthday - five dock westfield - bad customer service too, the deal only can take off one meal at $30 - at the end paid $52 on top for 2 people! We only had 2 meals with drinks

    2. family (had no decision) - Warwick farm - crap all you can eat rubbish with overloaded chips and carbs

    3. family (different location to try) - Chullora (all NSW) - decent customer service, however expensive for its quality.

    • I tried outback steakhouse on the weekend, not bad. Definitely not to be confused!

  • -2

Decent price, looks like, but all the NSW ones are out in the boonies. Maybe sign up in the off chance I celebrate a birthday there.

  • I am just wondering where does everyone go for a good steak?

Does a good steak even exist?

  • $69.90 for a steak must be nice. But wouldnt it be like comparing a $300 penfolds wine with $10 wine? Isnt there something in between a cheap pub steak and a chef hatted restaurant?

  • The Little Hunter - great, reasonably priced steaks in Adelaide, with great beers on tap.

  • Happy Birthday!
As a valued Outback Club member, please
accept a voucher for a free Chocolate Thunder

Looks like they are already reneging.

  • Had ribs and wings here last night - service/food/wait time was terrible, never again
