Toshiba Satellite P50-C00W Notebook (i7/8GB/1TB/15.6"/2GB/DVD) $1099 (Click & Collect) @ Good Guys

70

A good buy for someone looking for a decent-spec'd Windows machine with 5th gen Intel processor, dedicated graphics, great audio, and even an optical drive for your old-skool media. Very capable all-rounder, including gaming (within appropriately-tweaked settings). Might want to swap out the spinning metal for one of the bargain SSDs which have been appearing on OZB of late.

  • How does this compare to think pad edge 550

  • Any computer afficianados know if this is a decent price for these specs? I know Toshiba is a reputable laptop brand but is this enough to edit HD videos on?

    • good price as it has a FHD screen not just HD

  • Does anyone know if the keyboard is backlit - this is a must for me

    • -1

Yes Franky - the OP does, which explains why it is in the specs above following the dot point "Display" :-p

      • +2

he's asking about the keyboard, not the screen

    • cant see it mentioned anywhere nor shown in a photo.

    • +1

Yes, the Satellite P50 has keyboard backlighting.

Centrecom is having a Cyberweekend Sale, might be worth a look.

    Similar spec'd Acer for $999

  • I got a new dell at work this week e5550 latitude $1100 fhd screen 8gb i5 5300u with 4 years pro support and no optical drive or any chance of adding one its too thin, i thought Its an end of an era.

    • I am guessing thats a refurbished one, seeing new at dell is double that price.

  • Not bad at all. Not as good as the first generation p50t though. Mine was i7-4700mq, gt745m,ans touch screen. The only thing better about this refreshed p50 is the integrated Intel 5500 gfx but even then it still can't stand up to a dedicated gfx.

Worth noting that this i7 is not quad core. It's dual core.

    • 4700mq is nearly 2X faster than 5500U

  • Just found this on the Good Guys site.. still available at this price until the 17th it seems… postage to WA was only $5… Haven't looked at laptops for ages to know if it is good deal or not…
