Professional? For $349? A professional video camera is more like $100,000 - and in a totally different league.

  • so cheap wow! Can I have a coupon? :)

I used DigiDirect's $476 price. They came down to $532.53 (which happens to be the same price that RimofLeo posted).

Unfortunately two cashiers couldn't get the system to accept the $200 coupon with the reduced price. After several minutes of trying they called in backup, who said the system would only allow the coupon to be used on the ticket price, and I could choose between $532.53 or $349.

      • Damn. Oh well, thanks for letting me know!

  • really need this code!
anyone with spare code, would you plz pm me?

    • Do you want mine ?, Please let me know.

    • I have got the code, thanks so much!

  • Are they any good? I'm kinda tempted, I wouldn't use it for 4K, but the 1080P mode with image stabilisation. :)

I use my Cannon DSLR to take 1080p videos, I'm assuming this Sony would be a fair bit better? And probably more portable…

I only just recently bought the Casio keyboard from JB's last Instant Deal sale a few weeks back. :(

  • Anyone want my code, I have PM several people but to no reply, first reply and says the magic word may have my code :)

    • Do you still have your coupon? if yes, please pm me. thanks

  • Just remind anyone who buys this camera, don't use any micro sd card other than sandisk extreme pro 64gb, card smaller than 64g Sony does not allow 4k recording, not uhi-3 sony does not allow 100Mbps recording. Some would argue you have choices of samsung pro 64g and lexar 633x 64g, but you will regret it as all kinds of problem eventually. ONLY EXTREME PRO 64GB goes flawlessly with this device.

  • Here's my one. Reply after you use it so others don't. Have fun :)

I have a code if anyone wants it, send me a pm?

  • pm me if anyone is after a code.

  • Now we need to find some links to cheap parts for these:

    • Best price for 64Gb/128Gb U3 type cards (i.e. Sandisk Extreme Pro)
    • Accessories kits with mounts, tripods etc
    • The better front cover for the case to be used underwater (apparently the "rounded" one included is crap underwater and can't focus properly)
    • Spare batteries
    • External battery charger

Apparently the battery only lasts one hour, and is charged inside via a microUSB cable…. so I want an external charger and at least a few spare batteries. :)

I'm going to use a standard fast 64Gb card for now, I'm only going to record in 1080P with image stabilization on, not 4K.

    • There were SanDisk Extreme 64GB U3 cards for $55.95 in this Shopping Square deal, but they've now sold out in the past 3 hours.

      • The "located in Australia" ones are sold out, but the ones shipped from China are still there for $52.95:

        http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_413682_SanDisk_Extreme_64…

I know they'll take a few weeks to arrive though, but it's still a pretty decent price. :)

EDIT - Wait a sec, that's the "Extreme", not the "Extreme Pro", but it's still a U3 card. Is that still good enough?

        • Sony specify SDXC (hence the 64GB minimum) for 'XAVC S' and U3 for 100mbit. The SanDisk Extreme SDXC U3 satisfies those specs.

However, a few comments above, rong warns against using any card but SanDisk's Extreme Pro.

To find out if the Extreme works, I ordered an AU delivered card from Shopping Square this morning to test.

@Thrift: I got the card this morning (and the cam). I can confirm Sandisk Extreme U3 60MB/s 64gb works fine for xavcs 4k 30p format. Played with it, also installed remote app on my mobile. So far no issue with record and play. Not sure what kind of issue reported by rong.

        • @matabuntu: Thanks matabuntu, I got mine this morning too. It's confirmed, the SanDisk Extreme Micro SDXC U3 64GB unlocks the Sony FDR-X1000V's 100 Mbit modes.

  • Hello, if anyone has a spare coupon please let me know! thanks

  • I want to replace my old Sony MiniDV camcorder. Is this what I should replace it with? I use the old camcorder for stuff like holidays, concerts, events, etc.

What do you reckon OzBargainers? Is there any other full digital device I should purchase. I already have a digital SLR.

This is a fixed focus wide angle lens to give POV type videos. Not really suited as a general purpose video camera. The sony still cam Aldi has for $199 this saturday has decent video capability and good optical zoom. Might be worth looking at, does your DSLR shoot video?

      • Thanks for the advice mauricem. Now that I've had a really good look at the Action Camera I can see it isn't suitable. I require a digital camcorder with a view screen. No, unfortunately, my DSLR doesn't shoot video.

  • Can someone please give me a code. Thanks

  • After a code please !? Cheers

    • Sent you one.
