  • Is is all in German?

    EDIT: NEVERMIND

    • +5

I know what you mean I selected american english at the bottom and it still shows german for me.

  • Great find TA! Will try this out!

    • +3

Don't waste your time. It's 2 versions behind, and a few years old. New bodies don't get supported in old versions. It's slow as batsh*t, LR can edit a set in 10min while this would take >1hr. I'm talking doing the edits, not actually generating the output files from your raw.

      • +1

2 versions behind is still way more than anything but the most avid photographer could possibly need (or know how to use).
I've been using the older free versions of DxO since around v5 and there hasn't been anything in newer versions to make me feel a need to upgrade to a current edition.
Also "new bodies don't get supported' is rubbish.

  • This program has become my post processor of choice, it's very powerful. Only criticism is that it can run a little slow, be sure to have a decent amount of RAM.

  • +1

The promo code at the bottom of the page - DGTLPH15 - gives you $5 off the elite edition or $30 off the essential edition.

  • Cheers TA.

The checkbox above the button is for news letter subscribtion its ok to uncheck it

    • +2

Its a little misleading how the check box works, by default its actually checked (blue) but when you click it , it turns white to denote unchecked. No ticks or crosses to be seen so from first glance its not easy to recognise if its selected or not.

  • Thanks. Nice find!

FYI: Current version is 10 this offer is for 8 Elite.

  • Make sure you watch the instructional video, pretty impressive.

  • thanks TA

  • Hi TA,

can I download this tonight instead? I seem to get a link to download now…

    thanks.

    • +1

Can't see why not. Deal expires Sept 30.

  • +6

    Won't work with win 10 64 bit?

It says "This app can't run on your pc"

    • :s

    • +2

If it's version 8, and last is 10, as per bargainhunter_dande above, then it is quite likely it was out way before Windows 10 was and possibly incompatible. I would guess the last version 10, should work on Windows 10, and that is one which is not free atm..:\

Wow, I never thought commas could be so exhausting.

        • +1

It is in the eyes of the viewer, which could pass it to the brain for processing ;)

        • @durendal: You should probably avoid using commas as you tend to use them incorrectly.

        • @Agret:
You realise that one week later…!? Back in time!

      • Try compatibility mode…

    • It runs on my Surface pro (Win 10 Pro, 64bit).

I opened a single jpg, tried some minor adjustments (white balance and contrast) and it worked fine.

    • You get that message for 2 reasons.

      1) The program you are trying to run has become corrupt (possibly connection was closed from server before download completed?)
      2) You are trying to run a 64 bit exe on a 32 bit version of Windows. Right click your Windows logo in bottom left and click System and it will tell you if you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows.

  • So, this is the old version? The purchase links at the bottom are for version 10? I haven't used DxO before, anyone know what you miss out on between version 8 and 10?

    • I would try version 8, since it is on offer, and see if it's enough for my needs. If there is a feature, I require, missing, find out if version 10 has it, before purchasing it ;)

      • New bodies are only supported in new versions. Ie if it's enough for needs, and you go out buy a new body, you need to pay for a new ver.
That is assuming they add support for your body.

      • +4

I didn't know William Shatner was an ozbargainer.

        • Do not be Saaaaaad, no one said you know everything ;)

    • Bug fixes. I had some very annoying (but minor) bugs in this. Things like the fixed crop ratios not actually giving you correct crops in your output.

The support guys (there are 2 of them - one tries to be helpful, the other is rather self-superior) accidentally included me in an email which basically said "yeah, that's going to be fixed in v9 (not released at the time), we're not going to fix it in v8." then "oh crap, does the customer see this reply?"

This is for a crop bug that came with v6. Makes pen tablet use unusable.

      • I'm currently using Lightroom, does this have any advantages over it?

        • Some people prefer the raw conversion from DxO over Adobe. Unless you're using an older camera though, it's very possible your camera won't be supported.

        • @mooboy: I use a mirrorless camera that came out in 2014. I assume it won't support it. Won't waste my time then, thanks.

        • +1

@Saaaaaad: If it's a Sony, you might want to check out Capture One. I think there is a free version for Sony files only. I think it normally gets praise by Nikon and Sony users as better RAW conversion than Adobe. However, the cataloging features are not where near as good as Lightroom (IMHO).

        • There's a link on the download page to a a PDF file listing supported cameras.

  • How is this compared to noise ninja guys?

  • My 70D is supported from version 8…Thanks TA!

  • At 25Kbps, its gonna take me 3 hours. I'm running WIndows 10, can anyone confirm/deny if this works again?

    • +1

      u on dialup?

      • Dialup is 56 kbit/s line that is twice as much …

      • I'd call it that, yes, but according to iiNet its ADSL2+, yea right…

    • +1

It's not working for me on Windows 10 64bit

    • +2

I know you will probably already have it by now, but it works just fine on my desktop running Win10 64bit :) Activated fine, detected my camera/lenses correctly and applies corrections!

      • Great thanks, lots of mixed feedback about Windows 10.
        I'll start my download.

  • Has anyone received an Activation code?

    • yes

    • Yes… but not until I checked my Gmail spam folder today. Suggest checking spam if you havent received it.

  • Waiting for version 9 to be free. This version 8 was offered for free already in the past.
I own this version too (paid) a few years back

  • Installed it on another drive (not on System C). Cannot start it. Crashes with a message to send the error to support. windows 7 pack 1

    • Also installed mine on non "C" drive, Win7 Pro64 but all working fine including downloading modules for Olympus EP5 camera & lenses. I activated with code on initial install rather than trial mode; in case that has any bearing on install failures?

  • im getting an error not a valid Win32 app.

    Anyone else getting that?

  • Still no email from them

    • +1

Got mine instantly. Have you checked your junk mail? Maybe try a different email address?

      • +1

Thanks tightarse. Couldn't find my email. Thanks to your comment, I found it in my gmail spam folder. Cheers!

      • Thanks. Gmail spam folder and reason being different language :(

    • If gmail then yes, go check the spam folder there. That's where I found my keys; I think it's a same universal 'free' key given to everyone?.

  • Nice deal, thanks OP

  • Nikon D3300 not supported — uninstall. Thank you for the link though.

  • Took several goes to download. It would get partway through and appear to have completed. The basic interpretation of my D700 NEFs didn't deal well with areas of high exposure. It also interpreted everything as at least a stop more exposed than I liked.

  • A little late but here's a camera compatability list , mine is there woohoo Nikon D3200
