    Personal experience:
The servers themselves really aren't that good. I struggled to even sustain a connection speed of over 1-2MB/s when transferring from my other servers (with RansomIT), my home ADSL connection often out performed it. Internet speed aside, the server wasn't TOO bad.. As in, it was bearable… It felt like it was slightly oversold, though I did buy it on a promotion they did a few months back, a little over selling wasn't something that surprised me; it's almost expected in the situation of <$5 servers.

Customer service could be worse I guess. Response times were decent (always with in 24 hours) though their responses showed lack of knowledge or understanding at times. I often had to go back-and-fourth 3 or 4 or responses with support tickets before anything was resolved ever, resulting in a total of almost a week at times.

Overall, I guess their storage servers wouldn't be the worse. For Australia that's an insane amount of data on offer. That been said, it's really not a viable option if you need a reliable server. If you are just needing somewhere in the cloud to store files on a simple web/ftp server, go for it. Anything else, you'll probably want to look elsewhere more professional solution. Many companies have similarly priced plans, just with less data.

Edit: not gonna neg because maybe these packages are possibly better than my particular server with them was, though I'm honestly not sure internet speeds would be different.

  • Those prices are pretty great if physically hosted in Australia depending on network link.

Hesitant to commit after dyl's response although I would expect those results on a $5 VM.

Looks like they are hosted in Aus however can the OP please confirm the VPS on offer are indeed those physically hosted in Australia?

Can you also confirm link speed please?

Does WHM/CPanel cost extra and if so how much?

    • Hi Dr Dollar,

Sure are physically hosting in Australia and we've upgraded the standard OZC KVM SSD Plans that dyl refers to based on his feedback from the time.

      Regards,
      Richard.

    • Link speed is 100Mbps for these VPS Plans and WHM/cPanel is an available Control Panel (selectable at the first page of the Plan's Options and is $22 extra (all prices are incl GST and in AUD).

      Regards,
      Richard.

The price and the the resource provisioned does not seem to be proportional. Here's your list of plans & comparison to previous plan:

    Plan Cost RAM SSD Data
    VPS-0 $5.50 0.5GB 10GB 0.5TB
    VPS-1 $7.90 (+43%) 1GB (+100%) 15GB (+50%) 1TB (+100%)
    VPS-2 $17.90 (+127%) 2GB (+100%) 30GB (+100%) 2TB (+100%)
    VPS-3 $37.90 (+112%) 3GB (+50%) 50GB (+67%) 3TB (+50%)
    VPS-4 $75.90 (+100%) 4GB (+33%) 75GB (+50%) 4TB (+33%)
    VPS-5 $114.00 (+50%) 8GB (+100%) 100GB (+33%) 5TB (+25%)
    VPS-6 $179.00 (+57%) 12GB (+50%) 150GB (+50%) 6TB (+20%)

It appears that for VPS-3 & VPS-4 you pay a lot more (double or more of previous plan) but getting considerably less in terms of resource provisioned. Should I assume that the contention on the servers hosting VPS-3+ are less? Otherwise wouldn't it be wiser to get 2x VPS-2 than one VPS-3?

    • Hi Scotty,

Yep, we're aware of all this, good table btw.

As with all our various types of VPS Plans, we'll tune these offerings as they mature and as we see what customers really want.

      Regards,
      Richard.
