Duplicate, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/17977, but as it has garnered many votes so guess some people haven't seen it, I'll leave it to another mod to decide if removal is necessary.

Thanks Neil. Didn't realise someone has posted this already and thought I should share a good bargain! Cheers!

Also a dupe from my original one back in 2008 :p http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/7286

    • -1

I Don;t agree it is a dupe of yours, different promotions

  • So many are unwittingly trading off their private information for the price of a tix. Look first at gift horse in the mouth. LOL.

    • once you print the ticket - you can go and change the details :)

      • You have to show ID to prove your birthdate:

Q: What kind of identification do I need to show at the box office? A: Valid photo includes Government issued passport, Drivers License, Proof of Age, Keycard, School ID (must list DOB). Where photo ID is not available, a notarised copy of a Birth Certificate is required to be eligible for your free ticket.

Another reason to hate my 29 February birthday!

    • unlucky. maybe you'd get to use it on 1/3/2010?

    • Aww, hopefully you'd be allowed to use it on the 28th or the 1st.

  • damn shame my bday is in July!

  • used mine on sunday. unfortunate that all their cinemas don't have the same facilities, i.e. in ACT, there wasn't a director's suite or any of the other special theatres.

Do Hoyts do any adult movies?

    • Goddamnit! My birthday is in exactly one week, and I really wanted to see Avatar again!!

      • Oops. My mistake.

  • -6

Probably the one day of the year where going to see a movie would be next to impossible…

Now if they let you go within a week of your birthday, I might change my vote…

    • +5

Yes I can see them changing the deal for you now that you have put that offer on the table.

      • -4

That's great news… Let me know when they do…

    • What stops you seeing a movie on your birthday?

      • The guests who come to see me…

        • valid point, but remember we have dedicated bargain hunters here - hell with guests friends and logic - its a FREE movie. mmh hope they have something you like on your birthday. Hey Pete what did you do on your birthday. I went to a movie on my own (if others go with me, then its really a buy one get one free deal and thats not so great a bargain is it.

        • And what about others who don't have guest to see or want to see a movie on their birthdays?

  • My birthday is next week and I successfully printed my free ticket from Hoyts. I tried online purchasing a ticket for my wife but Hoyts only sells the La Premiere tickets in pairs? I can't buy a single La Premiere ticket?

    • you can buy indvidual tickets from the box office.

  • Miss out, my birthday was 3 days ago…..bugger.

  • Somehow i register since my birthday is on Sept, and it went through.. hmm interesting

  • This is duplicate. The original deal is still valid. It allows free tickets for birthdays any time of the year.

My next b'day is in Aug 2010. I signed up and got my ticket straight away.

Although I am refraining from a -ve as at least this post re-advertised the earlier deal. I for one was not aware of it.

Thanks for those who remembered the earlier post and took time to provide a link here.

The deal within itself is good, if you can afford to take time off on that day. Let me see what I end up doing.

  • Does anyone have any concerns with them collecting your name, address, phone details and most importantly your DOB.

I mean this is all the ID require for identity fraud.

    • How is this different from any other business you deal with holding these exact details? Driver's licence, banks (via home loans and other accounts), ISP, etc.

      • Entering a comp/getting a freebie is different to getting a drivers licence, opening a bank account, etc. One org is using the info to market stuff to you the other to correctly ID/protect both parties doing critical activities to avoid fraud. A bit of a difference…

  • Does this include movies that are NFL (no free list)?

    • all movies. (unless vouchers, these do not have the clauses saying that it is not valid for blah blah blah…)

  • Damn! my birthday was yesterday. Why did they pick such a date to announce?

    • happy belated b'day !

  • O damn…missed out already… :(

  • yay just went yesterday for my free ticket to see Invictus at a la premiere cinema for free :D saved $25. however the food they serve there was really expensive (pay extra for food) and not very good (like the cheese platter was about $18 for 3 pieces of cheese and some crackers and sides:P)
so saved some and wasted some :P
all in all, good deal :)
    thanks for posting

I don't think Hoyts (or other cinemas) are known for their quality, value-for-money food ;-) All cinemas mark up food like petrol stations to make their real profits.

I think it's funny how some patrons almost feel they -have- to eat when watching a movie. It's not like we eat every 60-90mins at home/work. Each to their own I guess… I like to focus on watching the movie given the price we pay for tickets these days ;-)
