  • Worth it! Nice find, bought mine at $99 and honestly cannot use any other mouse. SO convenient switching between devices as well and battery life 30 days plus without recharging.

    • I started a new job doing Autocad 8 weeks ago and the normal mouse is hurting my hand, keen to see how this one does the job. It's a cheaper price than has ever been on ozbargain before too which is handy.

      • I was using one of those portable Logitech wireless mouses without caring - was like a mouse is a mouse, but switched to the MX Master and honestly take it everywhere, Synced to my computer at work and home and just use one mouse for both. I don't game with so its perfect.

      • Surely, for Autocad, G600 is better? (Its only fault is that it cannot do horizontal scroll using wheel tilt.)

        • G600 is wired, if that's your thing.

Also the MX master does have a side scrolling wheel, so there's that.

      • You could give a trackball a try?

      • Why not go trackball ? I got the Kensington Expert Mouse. I find it I can get greater precision with it and with multiple monitors, a simple flick and brake saves your hands/wrist from pain.

      • Wrong direction from the above posters I think. If you have wrist pain, you really need to try an Evoluent Vertical Mouse. I don't see how trackballs would ease your pain unless they are a vertical type model.

Don't use a cheaper brand vertical mouse.

Source: Experience (pain, evoluent & cheaper brands too).

Kogan had the evoluent VM4RW (wireless right hander) on sale on ebay - sub $125 with CLICK15, which is a historical low. You won't beat that price anywhere or anytime. Even when I pulled off a miracle pricebeat 2 years ago I paid a couple of dollars more than that.

Serious question, why spend over 30 quid for Maas?

      • Quid? Maas? What the. (Yes i know what quid is just confused by relevance)

    • I find the side buttons of the MX Master worse than the Performance MX. I tried the G700s and has been satisfied with the improved performance and 4 left side buttons. Too bad its receiver is unique and not compatible with my logitech keyboard.

  • What are you guys talking about when you're talking about syncing? I can't think of much that there is to sync with a mouse except sensitivity and customisable buttons?

    • +1

It can connect via bluetooth or the receiver is what golferpat meant i think, which he does.

    • He means that the MX Master allows you to pair it to 3 devices and switch between them by using the button located at the bottom. For example, if I had both a laptop and a desktop at my desk, pressing the button would conveniently allow me to switch between using the mouse on the laptop or the desktop machine.

      • +1

Truely an epic feature. I use the mouse on my pc via unifying adapter, and chuck the mouse in my bag and use it via BT on my laptop. I find the smartshift feature annoying so I recommend turning it off and toggling between hyper scroll and normal manually.

        • Couldn't agree more with the Smartshift, but have it sorted now :) and yes I was referring to syncing between easily between multiple devices, up to 3.

While I'm here does anyone know how to re-use a sync if I have previously synced it to a computer I no longer use. i.e. I left that company?

  • So good Deal, Just got one :)

The latest software update finally added application specific settings.

It took 6 months and 8 pages on the Logitech Forums of angry users asking for a function back that all previous Logitech mice have had in the last 10 years - but they did finally do it.

It's a great mouse now that it has the functions of a great mouse.

I purchased this mouse when they had the $50 voucher and I will say it is by far the best mouse I have ever used it's even a lot better then the Performance MX

Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse $78.38 after applying the code, $4.92 cheaper then Futu Online.

    • Anything I should know about warranty before pulling the trigger? (NZ based store vs AU based)

    • damn, must have bought just before you posted this!

  • Hi, when I saw this post, I thought I'd check the price of the Anywhere 2. I own and love the original Anywhere, but want to upgrade for the bluetooth, so I can free up a USB port.

I found it on sydneytech's eBay page for $79, $67.15 after code.

Was in the process of posting a new deal for it, but it says sydneytech is banned for sockpuppeting. So, I guess I can't do that and I'll just leave this comment here for anyone else who is interested.

    • NVM

    • Whats sockpuppetting?

      • +1

I believe it's when an employee (of store) poses as a random buyer (or OzBargainer) and praises/talks up a deal from their business.

    • How come Aug-leo is able to publish Sydneytech's MX Anywehre 2 deal?

      • I never actually attempted to submit the deal. I got the aforementioned message after entering the title or URL (not sure which it picked up on).
I figured it would just get killed by the mods, so didn't bother.

    • See this comment in regards to sydneytech's ban. Doesn't really go into detail, but I guess this is when it was put in place.

I bought this mouse during the $50 voucher deal. I think it's an ok mouse. Ergonomically it's decent. I really don't understand the need for a sidewheel though.

What websites do you go to that require side scrolling? Most sites I've seen don't even use up the full width of my widescreen monitor. You have borders on the sides for ads. They aren't optimized for wide screens.

The two side buttons (forward and backward by default) are not good. They are small and divided diagonally instead of vertically, so it's very hard to press one without accidentally pressing the other.

I upgraded from an MX Performance mouse, and my recommendation is, it's not worth the upgrade. If you have a crappy or dead mouse and need a new one, it's a good choice. But not if you're upgrading from something decent like the MX Performance.

There are some good things. Supposedly the battery life lasts 40 days. I've yet to put it to the test. It also can connect to 3 different devices and also supports bluetooth.

    • +2

So you can't see the use for a side scrolling wheel, and the only thing you could think of is that websites don't require side to side scrolling.

I think most people would stop reading your 'review' there.

      • I never called it a review. If it was a review it would have been much longer, and not a few sentences comment. I would have worked more on punctuation and spelling also.

And since you didn't reply with a practical use for a side scrolling wheel, I'm going to assume you concede my point. I would rather have that side wheel replaced with either an extra button, or extend the two buttons so they aren't so cramped.

        • +4

          Here's some.

Editing photos, and videos - Move about an image or a timeline without having to use the keyboard.

3D modelling - Work on an additional axis without having to hold a keypress.

Watching videos - Scrub through backwards/forwards.

Spreadsheets and documents - Move along horizontal axis.

Desktop - Use it to switch through open applications.

Gaming - Bind to what ever function you want.

That's off the top of my head.

        • -1

@c0balt: You could already do most of those things with the default scroll wheel, which already goes left and right.

The sensitivity on the side wheel of the master is not the same as the sensitivity of the vertical wheel, so is very hard to get used to.

I'll grant you the spreadsheets function. I haven't used one of those in a while. At least not one that's too wide.

Desktop - Use it to switch through open applications.

I have the mouse.. can you tell me how the side wheel allows you to switch through open applications?

Gaming - Bind to what ever function you want.

I would rather have that wheel replaced with more buttons. If you're going to use left scroll to act as one button, and right scroll to act as another button, having two actual buttons is better and more reliable. I haven't yet played a game that called for two separate scroll wheels for actual scrolling. Even the middle button wheel is less useful for weapon switching in FPS now, since most games allow you to hold only 2 guns now.

Also, no serious gamer uses a wireless mouse. But whatever, since I'm not a photo editor like you are, I won't belabor the point.

Watching videos - Scrub through backwards/forwards.

I've not been able to replicate this. What software are you using for playback? I still wouldn't use it anyway. It's not as accurate as clicking where on the bar you want to jump to.

Everything you've mentioned to me is non-essential. Mileage will vary from person to person. I don't claim to speak for everyone. But I certainly can't put an $83 price tag on what you've just listed as functions for a side wheel (many of which I've been unable to replicate). I don't view photos that are way bigger than my screen (I don't edit them either). For viewing gigantic photos, I just shrink to fit.

So in my case, I wasted $55 after the $50 voucher. Incidentally I paid about that much for my MX Performance, which didn't have a $50 cashback.

This isn't some ground breaking new invention that will revolutionize mice. There's a reason no one's put in a side scrolling wheel yet.

        • +1

          @lostn:

          1) It's a fully articulating wheel, not a tilt left/right. There's much more control.

          2) The sensitivity can be set in the software.

          3) Then chose a mouse that does have extra buttons?

          4) VLC, can set custom hot keys.

          5) Just because you see it as non-essential doesn't mean it is. Anyone that needs a mouse for productivity purposes would see these functions as a necessity. You sound like you just need any standard mouse.

I'm coming from a MX Revolution mouse, which is a far superior mouse to your MX Performance and I see the MX Master as a good upgrade (once they came out with the application specific settings after 6 months of not including it in the software).

    • +1

I upgraded from an MX Performance mouse, and my recommendation is, it's not worth the upgrade. If you have a crappy or dead mouse and need a new one, it's a good choice. But not if you're upgrading from something decent like the MX Performance.

I don't get the hype over this. The mx performance I mean. I own 2 (ozb instincts, bought them under pricematch against LTS a long time ago). They don't live up to its hype.

      • +1

I wasn't hyping the Performance mouse. All I'm saying is that the Master is not a very big upgrade over the performance mouse if you already have one, and I wouldn't pay $99 or even $83 for the upgrade.

I made it pretty clear in the text you quoted. If you have a performance mouse already, don't bother with the upgrade. If you don't, or your mouse sucks, then get it.

Another gripe I have with it is that the hyper scroll function is set to auto detect. The Performance had a button you press to toggle between normal scroll and hyperscroll. The Master detects which scroll you want to use based on how fast you're scrolling. But it doesn't select to my liking. It's a bit sensitive. Much of the time I want to scroll a bit faster, but not hyper fast, yet the mouse assumed I wanted hyper, and scrolled all the way to the very bottom. This is very annoying.

The kicker is that it still has that toggle button.. if you press it, it will be set to always hyper scroll. If you're going to include the toggle button anyway, why not just keep it the way it was before? There is no way to disable hyper scrolling without simply scrolling too slowly for my liking.

        • My scroll toggle button, does just that, toggles between ratchetting and free scroll. There is a setting in Options to set whether auto detect is on or not, so you may need to set that first.

I know. I'm just saying, the OzB hype was the MX Performance was the best mouse in the world.
          Same with eneloops.
I didn't think I bought something amazing when I fell into the hype.
SSDs is the only thing worth getting that lives up to its hype.

        • @cwongtech: Have your Performance MX shown any signs of double clicking? I've bought one second hand ($40 for everything which wasn't that bad I think), the double click issue occured with mine. It seems to me that it's fairly common issues with Omron China switches from what I've gathered.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/369gso/anyone_get…

        • @Oversimplified:
Nah mine haven't, they're sitting in a drawer at the moment since I dislike them that much. It's a "premium" office mouse, the only useful feature is the hyperscrolling for going through PDFs. Even then, it would be faster to type in approximate page numbers.

        • @cwongtech: I've assigned shift tab and alt tabon to the buttons on the side (makes them really good for surfing the net).
These are better than my old mouses, but that said, double click issue is something that I've never come across, even with my old mouses which were far below its price line ($20~$30 region).

I sort of see where the hype is from, these are alright. Though I've never been a person who've thought much of peripherals to begin with.

        • Obvious user fault here. The hyperscrolling auto switch speed is configurable in the standard software.

    • You can configure the buttons and scrolls to do different things. I don't side scroll much, so I have it configured for zooming in and out - which I do much more. The buttons I have configured for page up/down - which is good for trawling through huge log files.

    • I partially agree with you, side scroll is mostly wasted in the age of 1920 plus resolution screens the requirement to side scroll in an application is unnecessary. I use mine for adjusting the audio volume instead. The forward and back buttons are slightly hard to reach, however, I prefer this as I often accidentally bumped them on my old mouse (Rat 7, biggest piece of ****) so a deliberate movement is required to press those buttons.

I am very tempted to buy another MX master, but I cant seem to find a use for it since they can connect to multiple devices.

  • Thanks OP, got one!

  • A very good mouse. Go for it if you're not using previous iterations of this mouse.
I really like the switching modes - flawless switching betweem my Mac and PC.

  • I have a MX M950. Is this worth upgrading to MX Master?

    • The MX Master is very wide - wider than the revolution or 950 I think - so take that into account.

  • I'm thinking of getting one for my elder Dad, he seems to use a stock wired mouse at the moment just fine but wondering if this would be more comfortable and less stress on wrist etc

  • After owning the Revolution, M950, G602 & G700s all through brilliant Ozbargain deals I watched some youtube reviews and convinced myself this wasn't the mouse I was looking for.
No side scroll, semi return of the side roller without press assignment, poorly placed thumb buttons. I hope they bring the Revolution up to speed for the next model.

    • How long was the gap between M950 and MX Master? Gonna be waiting a while..

I'd be happy if they made a gaming mouse without all the lights and graphics. They could market it to creative professionals/engineers.

  • any gamer mouse recommendation would be appreciated.

    • Razer Taipan is pretty underrated, it's on clearance though, a new model may be out, but they went for as cheap as $25 from COTD (no longer available), should be a few being flogged on ebay.

  • Can anyone please confirm for me this mouse's scrolling wheel can't be flipped to left/right as other mx mouse?

    • There is a scroll wheel between the left and right click buttons for vertical scrolling and a thumb wheel for horizontal scrolling. I assume you meant horizontal scrolling when you said left/right?

    • +1

No, the scroll wheel doesn't tilt left and right like the old ones.

      • Yes, this is what I was asking about. I need these 2 to program my tasks. Have been using them on my Performance MX and other Logitech mouse for years, I'm so used to it and can't change to other mouse if it doesn't have it.
        Thanks.

        • Same situation here, made no sense why that would be removed.

        • @pennyless: Many people, including me, found that it made pressing the scroll wheel button harder - because sometimes you would accidentally press down and sideways and click the wrong, or both, buttons.

  • So tempting. I could probably sell my performance mx for $50 and upgrade to this… Ahhhh I hate these eBay sales so much stuff I want but really don't need.

  • Will get one and throw my old one out as the button sometimes double clicks when holding it down.
I would hand it to my mum but anything wireless she will lose.

    • +1

You can fix the double click issue if you have the patience to open the switch up and do some adjustments (you have to fix the spring inside the switch which is bloody annoying), or you could get another set of switchs and change the switchs altogether.

      • Im assuming there is a video on youtube for this so i will check it out, thanks mate!!

        • +1

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82z-OpHdBgE

I have to warn you, that spring is annoying to fix. Seriously seriously annoying to fix.

        • @Oversimplified:
Oh wow, you didn't have to but thank you again, so fast!!

        • @Hirolol: No problem, that said, the fix that he shows is hard to perform if you are like me (clumsy). So I'd actually recommend replacing the switches or at least have it as an option since I've lost the spring twice and it took me awhile to find them.

        • @Oversimplified: If you have access to a soldering iron then you can replace the switches. They only cost about $2 each. I have about three mice sitting around waiting for me to do that - I keep collecting ones that people are throwing out.

        • @macrocephalic: I've seen it done on youtube, I've heard good things about Omron Japan, which supposedly has less double clicking issues.

        • @Oversimplified: I've read that they all come out of the same factory, just the Japan ones come from batches which have better QC done on them.

That said, it takes 2+ years for the problem to occur on mine, and if I replace them and get 2 more years use then I'm happy that I've got my money's worth.

        • @macrocephalic: Eh, they were around the same price anyways. Though, I'd rather not touch soldering stuff as much as possible + I've heard that the click feels different with Japan one.

        • @Oversimplified: The soldering is really easy, it's not surface mount or anything, just three large pins/legs that protrude through the PCB. Make sure you have some solder wick or a sucker to get the old solder off, pull the switch out, put the new one in, and touch some solder on each leg again. Someone competent could do it in under a minute, so it took me 10x that ;)

        • @Oversimplified:
Is there a spring underneath the medal bit?
I thought he said there is no need to remove the main metal thing when straightening it,

        • @Hirolol: Which one are you talking about?

        • @macrocephalic: Eh, I am not pro "open everything up to fix". I like doing it for fun, but as soon as small parts start to appear (things that I can lose), I tend to end up disliking it.

        • @Oversimplified: The only thing you'd really be able to lose out of this mouse is the screws that hold it together.

        • @Oversimplified:
The microswitch in the mx performance mouse in the video you linked for me.
I just watched the video again and he was saying the metal bit in the microswitch is the 'spring' so im guessing thats what it is even though it doesnt really look like your everyday spring.
He said it can be done without removing it.
Personally i think i am not bad at fixing things so i will have a crack at it, looks pretty straight forward.

One thing im wondering is what kind of glue can i use to stick the pads back on? I have a few other accessories that need the pads re-glued on.

        • @Hirolol: I've just reused the pad. It's reusable.

Also, I know he says it can be done, but the spring comes out really easy (and it is bloody annoying to put back). I suggest you to be cautious, at the very least. Make sure you don't bend the entire metal sheet, the metal bit stays in because of the tension.

        • @macrocephalic: Precisely (also it might be because I was having trouble with parts going everywhere when I try to fix the switch itself, I am slightly hesistant on opening that up again).

  • +1

Reading a lot of bad reports on these with Mac computers. Sporadic connections via Bluetooth. Anyone care to comment if they have experience?

    • Yeah, my Bluetooth on a MBPr is very laggy (works perfectly on a Surface Pro 3). That said, I have a USB hub, so no problem using the wireless USB adapter (with which the mouse works great).

  • I just received mine.. was expecting a more solid feel to the mouse and more weighty.. Does anyone else feel the build quality doesn't feel that solid???

  • Mine feels pretty good. Going from a stock hp mouse it's brilliant.
