i have been waiting for this day…..

  • I wish they had some of the more "modern" fancy board games, like Catan. Does anyone know if they stock them in-store?

    • +1
      • +1

        I like the old board

    • +1

They have some board games, I'm not sure if I have seen catan there, (i dont think i have) but I'm also not sure if i'd refer to Catan as modern or fancy :P

    • +1

Pretty sure I've seen Catan in their stores before.

If you love soccer, you gotta get this game called Subbuteo. It's a table soccer game set complete with 2 teams of small plastic figures, goals, mini soccer balls and even goalkeepers on a stick!

      http://www.toysrus.com.au/subbuteo-playset_10486288/

The essence of the game is that you use your finger to "flick" the player figures to hit the ball, pass it around and eventually shoot for a goal. Google "Subbuteo" on YouTube where there's heaps of videos.

My son and his mates love it. Its a great indoor game and way better than playing video games all the time.

Besides Mind Games, Toys R Us is the only other shop I know that stocks Subbuteo. So this is a really good deal!

      • +1

Thanks. Son will love this, perfect Xmas present.

      • +1

I love soccer, but I have never heard of this.. Either way, youtube vid's look amazing.

I'll trust your judgement and impulse buy. Cheers mate.

        • No problem mate. I went to the Highpoint store a few months back and they stocked individual Subbuteo teams painted to look like EPL teams - e.g. Chelsea and Liverpool. But they aren't listed in the online shop.

By the way, there's also an active community of players around Australia playing the game too.

          http://subbuteoaustralia.com/

@MelbBoy: Hi, by any chance can you remember where they stocked the game instore? Went in tonight and couldn't find it, their system said they had it in stock but the staff couldn't find it either. Thanks.

        • +1

@sparkyglo: You mean at Highpoint? When I saw it last, turn right at the main entrance and walk all the way to the right corner - where they used to sell video games. It's around there somewhere on the shelves.

  • +1

Thanks OP..Going to buy convertible car seat as our baby is due after 2 months

    • +5

Have you created her an ozbargain account yet?

    • I have a Birth-4 years and 6mth-8years seats, both bought from Target during their sale. Its cheaper then the ones TRU carry, but Baby R US really have a very lot of different products to choose from. They have good clearance from time to time, so you will need to keep an eye out but the coupon does not apply to clearance products.

  • Any good video game console bundles?

    • +3

I thought toys r us got rid of their gaming section?

      • Yup they have…

    • +1

Nah they are gone.. Just like the Akatsuki #justsayin

  • Are we expecting price hike too?

  • Lol, when they had the last 21% off voucher, the voucher couldn't scanned.

The girl claimed she did Maths Methods but couldn't calculate 21%.

    • +9

She never told you she did well in it :P

      • I did 3 unit maths in my HSC. I got 37%

        • +1

I guess we're only good at math problems that involves money.

    • +1

I'm no mathamagician, but I think you just got 0.21 x the total dollar ammount?
I did whatever the stupid kids maths was in high school.

      • +3

        Two ways:

0.21 x $ gives you the amount of the $ value of the discount, '21% of something' gives you 'y' amount. Now that you've figured out the saving, you want to know what you actually have to pay so: Total amount - 'y' = Total amount after discount.

On the flip side of the coin, where you want to find the total amount that you would need to pay in one calculation would be to ask: "If I took 21% away from something, how much % of there would be left of said thing?" and the answer is 79%. So, in order to find the total price of something, having applied the discount already would be 0.79*$

      • +1

You'd think that was the case, hey.

She had some random method and it was only coming to about 10-15% off.

      • +4

This can EASILY solve in you head…This is how I do these types of Calc quickly:

        1. Take 10 % (Easy move the decimal point 1 space to the left)

          eg. $320 ➙ 10% = $32.0

        2. **Multiple 10% by the % needed **

          eg if 20 % then MULTIPLE 10% by 2 ($32 x 2 = 64)

        3. For non whole % then take 1% (EASY…move the decimal point 2 spaces to the left)

          eg $320 ➙ 1% = $3.20

        add them up
        20% + 1% = 21%
        $64 + $3.2 = $67.2
        320-67.2 = 252.8

  • can u click and collect?

    • +1

Never. It's shipping or nothing within the online store.

  • can you use on trampoline which is on sale at this moment

if yes then its good time to buy trampoline $150 - $30 (20%)= $120

    • +4

It's always a good time buy a trampoline.

    • says off full priced items.

    • +1

      Tramampoline! Trambomboline!

  • +1

Good for big ticket items like Transformers Generations Devastator or the Star Wars Sphero BB-8

    • So cool! But $300, jesus! When my son gets old enough to play with "real" toys like transformers etc, I will go broke :(

I'm almost considering if I should buy it now for when he is older… Might not be available later… I'm a sucker.

      • When he is older the Devastator will be long forgotten and some other new red hot transformer will be the one he wants.

        Probably the Devastator Prime! :P

      • This is not your granddad's Devastator. This one is larger than some small children

  • +2

    I wish they had a ps4 lol

  • +1

    any cool lego sets?

    • +15

The only have room temperature ones

      • +1

Not now, dad. I'm with my internet friends.

  • Just be warning if they have a small discount like 5% then no other discounts can apply.
I was rejected a discount last time even though I asked for 20% of the full price of something that was discount only by a few dollars..

    • +1

so basically if its a low margin item then they discount it by 5% so they don't have to discount it by 20%…

  • Tried online and it didn't work

    Try again on desktop

        TFTFM

      • What does RTFM and TFTFM mean?

        • +3

rtfm is read the freaking manual - or in this case read the text.. not sure what TFTFM means.. to fat to follow me?

        • @01011010: Cool thanks !

  • Perfect timing! I've been eyeing the LEGO Simpsons House and Kwik-E-Mart. And that LEGO Opera House is REALLY tempting too.

Anyone remember that short little ditty? I wanna be a Toys-R-Us kid!

    • Call them up and relive those memories

  • +1

Do they sell vibrating bullets and Spanish Fly?

  • +1

Do they still sell mindstorms? I can see one but can't add to chart

  • Silly question.

Can you use this voucher for one purchase and then go to another Toys r Us and use it again there?

I mean if they say "pass it on to friends and family" I'm assuming that means multiple purchases using the same voucher.

If someone could clear this up that'd be great.

    • I would say yes as it's a generic code AFAIK

    • Unless i read the T&Cs incorrectly can't you just buy all your items at the one store? It doesn't say 1 item only…

      • It says 'can only be used once per customer' in the T&Cs.

        • exactly, no need to go to multiple stores why not just buy everything from the 1 store…

        • @lkp: There may be a reason why s/he wants to go to multiple stores. Perhaps one store has an item in stock while the other doesn't.

  • +1

A warning - this is appalling false advertising via Photoshop: http://www.toysrus.com.au/elephant-jumping-castle_12460259/

    • Well spotted.

In fact if you look at most of their pool and jumping castles photos they're obviously fake.

Link is down for me …

I've changed the link to a screenshot that I took from the email.

  • Did anybody save the coupon (with barcode)? It's not coming up any more.

    • I've changed the link to a screenshot that I took from the email.

Do they sell Magic the Gathering cards?

  • Do these ppl do click & collect - their shipping rates are ridiculous.. $40 to ship a cot to inner Melbourne city. Cost less to ship a fridge!

    • Nope I don't think they click and collect! Call the store and ask them to hold the item for you?

    • Same, $32 for a cot mattress to Melbourne. Shipping for a single clothing item (grobag) was $9.99 which started increasing as I started adding more stuff. Their shipping rates are the worst.

  • spent nearly $100 there YESTERDAY :(

    • Lesson learnt: Ozbargain more

    • refund (go through your bin if you need to) then rebuy.

  • Also, some of the lego comes with a bonus free item too by the looks of it, if you spend over $100 on lego

  • Can you call up and have them hold an item?

    • +1

That's what I did :) they will hold for 2 days

  • curash wipes (3x80) triple packs was 16 bucks for 2, and they increased the price to 12.99 for one….. no deal….

    • Coles wipes - $10 for 80 x 6 - no deal anyways champ

  • Toys R Us at Erina has a decent selection of Funko POP! vinyls. They are $16.99 standard price, so they come down to $13.60 after the 20% off. Pretty good price if you are a collector.

  • Wow, their shipping prices suck.

I was going to purchase a Sphero 2.0, for $160 with the 20% off, until they added on the $22 shipping to my address. No thanks.

  • thanks for posting this op, got some hard to get rarely discounted lego, saved me $40. cheers
