Good price on the GTX 960 and others:

    e.g. http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Gigabyte+Ge…

  • +3

Excluding the eBay voucher, most of these graphics cards are cheaper from Amazon in the US (incl. shipping), especially if you factor in the 15% off Amazon/Amex deal.

And ShoppingExpress had the GTX960 4G OC for AUD$289 delivered the other day…

    • +1

Would so snap up a GTX960 4G OC if under $300 via ebay!! Come on PC Byte!!

      • Wow just found out the amazon deal. Now I want to buy a 980ti…

      • Hi Xizor,

Sorry, that's the best we can do at the moment.

        Regards,
        Peter

    • i dont think that would be very good if someone was going to buy a new computer and was looking for parts.
the $100 ebay voucher is way better unless the prices are extremely cheaper on amazon.

      • +4

PC parts on eBay are 15-20% more expensive than buying them at a shop. Your goal should be to spend as little money with eBay as possible, because after paying the eBay premium, the voucher actually only saves you around $50-80.

You can only get the voucher once. Best to get it buying something close to $200 that is hard to get cheaper elsewhere, like an SSD or case + PSU.

Then when the voucher arrives, use it to buy something close to the voucher value like RAM.

Buy everything else at a PC store for non-eBay inflated prices.

        • Funny you should say that because i actually built a computer and bought everything local.

        • This is what I was trying to do exactly, but I can't find anything I really need around the $200 mark.

The $100 voucher would be like you said on RAM

    • Yes, I just got GTX 970 4G for AU$400 from Amazon.

      • including shipping?

        • Yes and I used Citibank for fee-free international transactions.

      • The MSI?

        • Is there any particular reason you picked the MSI card over the Eva? In fact there are 2 Eva's same price… not sure difference between them?

How did you get the price down to $400 if you used Citibank instead of Amex?

        • @Xizor: Just brand preference and I wanted Twin Frozr coolers. You can add the Amex card first and see how much you have to pay after the 15% discount then reload your gift card balance for that amount minus a dollar using Citibank for no fees. I reloaded my balance a few times for two purchases and each time, it took five minutes to a few hours. I also got emailed a code for either Rainbow Six Siege or Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

        • @boshimaro: After manual conversion Its working out about A$420 cost for me including shipping for the same card… am i doing it right? :D

        • @Xizor: Sounds right. Mine was a little cheaper because of combined shipping costs from ordering other items, as well as buying discounted Amazon GCs from OZB's Classifieds section.

        • @boshimaro: Awesome thanks. I need to get some of them too !!

  • Hi,

Whats a good upgrade to my radeon HD5700?

    • +4

      Anything…

      • In all seriousness a 970 or r9 390 or a used r9 290/r9 290x if you want the most bang for buck. Will be great for next winter as well.

        • I would vouch for a r9 290. You can pick up a used one for ~$250.

        • @Unseatingcargo1:

I went this road and regret it, bought an msi r290 last year and its plagued with black screen crashes unless underclocked. Hence I'm now checking this deal for a gtx 980.

        • @pennyless: I gave a Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition card for sale. Used for 3 months if you are interested.

My 290 that i had been using is great. 60fps 1080p on high playing Metro Redux. You should have RMA'd it or sent it back for warranty.

        • Thats a good deal however I'd personally pay a bit more for the gtx 970 from the amazon deal. It is only 390 for the ssc ac2.0 evga gtx 970. You can sell the game for 40 so comes to around 350. The 970 is worth the extra one hundred as you are getting a new card so box warranty etc. Plus it performs a bit better especially as the evga model is already overclocked around 15% out of the box.

  • @Op do you have a deal for gtx 750 ti?

    • Hi kokoboko,

Sorry, we currently are not running any deal on gtx 750 ti

      Regards,
      Peter

  • Sorry for being off-topic, I'm currently using the onboard graphics on a H87m-D3P.
Being on a tight budget what's a good 2nd hand VGA card that would be a fair bit better than the onboard one?

    • -3

I would increase your budget substantially and go for dual Titan X in SLI. I would pair them with THE best 19" LCD screen in market and if you wanna go out there and splurge your money, go for dual 19" screen!

This setup will last you for a while and you would be able to play Doom 2 and Quake flawlessly in the highest setting! OMG, now that's a crazy expensive-but-worth-every-cent-of-your-hard-earning-dollar setup!

      • said no one ever

      • if I had the budget i would…. thanks for the not-so-constructive comment -_-

  • Any deals on gtx 950?

    • Hi pacotaco,

Sorry, we currently are not running any deal on gtx 950

      Regards,
      Peter
