  • Just called up, the promotion is still active till the end of Dec.

ok its been over a week after i been promised to get my full allocation of data from livechat… phoned livechat again, the customer service rep was most helpful, and asked me to hold while she added the promised data (so yes, they can do it on livechat!)… told me its been done, to wait up to 24 hours and it will be added on… fingers crossed !

    • Fingers cross for you but i've been waiting a week.

    • i guess this is what i need to do. i've contacted livechat several times and have gone from 4.5gb to 5.0gb to 6.5gb and now back down to 5.5gb these past 4 weeks. i now know why people mock the telstra customer service, this is freaking ridiculous

      • all good ! received an email about the error, and $30 credited to my account to reimburse any extra data fees that may have been charged up to 7gb.
got the sms that my monthly shared data allowance is 9.17gb (inclusive of 2x 1gb data share sims).

Wooo, just got an email saying there was an error (getting 5gb instead of 7) and theyve fixed it and applied $30 credit. Looked fairly generic so I'm guessing anyoine else with problems should get this

    • Same! Even better!

      • so works out to ~$30.80 a month over 12 months with the extra $30 :)

    • I must have read it different to you, I read it as the $30 credit will only apply to any excess data charges you may have received from going over the 5GB limit, not that it's a $30 credit off your bill. But I may have just read it wrong.

      • other people got credit applied as a peace offering when they tried to fix this mess so I think it should be $30 off

        • +1

Ah true, reading it again now I'm home it does seem like it is an extra $30 no matter what. Let's see if Telstra screw that up as well! :-P

    • looking forward to receiving this email…

      • My bill just ticked over and it says I have 12 days left and 4.98gb still?! Are you guys getting this? Not only not updated but for some reason has me on a 12 day cycle.

        Getting pretty frustrated now.

        • My first bill was on a weird cycle, ended up being around $21. That being said after all the issues and promises my data would be 7gb, eventually i went back on chat and that person fixed it all up.

        • @goodo:
Yeah the bill came and withdrew $50 which at the time meant I was $150 in credit. But I have the Telstra usage app which shows the data left to use and it started with 12 days with 5gig remaining and it ticked over the other day with 12 days again and a fresh 5 gig! I'm certainly not complaining I'm on 12-13 gigs a month :D just wondering.

        • @Sira:

Just saw now that happened to me. I had 1 day to go last week, now i've got 5 days to go and usage has gone way down.

  • I got the same letter. I read it as we all get a $30 credit irrespective of going over. This is the plan that keeps on giving

  • I'm glad people are having some luck receiving what they're entitled to! I'm still 2GB short and without Apple Music even after a TIO complaint.

thats a shame… i dont know if it makes a difference or not, but on the livechat.. i think i selected the options of billing, and then adding data packs to get through to a person on livechat, who could add the missing GB online..

    • Same here. I got a text message this morning to say they've increased my data from 4.49gb to 4.98gb, but it's still not the 7gb they promised. I can't even create an online account at Telstra (something about account not found), which means I can't access the Apple Music offer. Had a livechat session already, will wait a couple of days though before escalating this further.

I have the exact same issue as you - not only missing data but the 'account not found' issue.

        • Only managed to get the online account working now after chatting with them again yesterday, seem like they have to "manually" fixed it.

Data is now at 5.5 gb, they just keep adding 500 mb every once a while, although I got the $30 credit/7gb promise email. Apple music is finally activated as well.

Since I'm going on holiday soon, I'll just leave it as it is, let's see if they'll ever get around to give everyone 7gb by new year.

Still do data fix or $30 of credit after probably a week after getting that generic email we got.
Also spoke to someone about Apple music who said they activated it and it still isnt working.

    • any luck yet? i've got the $30 but still not getting 7gb

  • Received my first bill, the $200 welcome credit applied immediately, as was the $30 (billing adjustment – missing bonus data credit).

  • Never had an issue with Telstra before trying to get this deal.

Although I soon learned what it was like… as I had the worst trouble trying to get this deal, but I think I'm nearly at the end of it. It's been 4 weeks in progress…

Somehow a fraud warning had appeared on my account, and needed to provide more details. (Saw this while in-store)
Anyway long story short, I provided these details at least 3 times.

1st time - Store didn't send the details in
2nd time - Telstra didn't accept a Telstra bill as proof of ID (Home Bundle)
3rd time - It went through

Many online chats occurred while trying to find if this information went through. Meanwhile in one of these chats, I was promised that I would get the original offer (this one). (See where this is going???)

So then I had to raise a complaint because I never got any phone calls back from Telstra in regards to anything. Got a complaint manager… okay getting somewhere. After all my account details were sorted out, manager was confirming all the plan details with me.

500mb of Initial Data with 2GB extra on the Medium Plan….. I said that it was wrong, and went over the initial offer. He said that I would not be able to get it. I was so close to losing it at that point. So close to just snapping….

Told manager about the online chats, he looked at the records, and saw that I was promised it. Hang up the phone and said he would call later.

Rang back and said that the informant was wrong and will be getting corrective action against. (o no) That the only thing they could do was give me the Large Plan with 10GB, $200 credit, $20 monthly discount and unlimited talk. I was like finally, a bit surprised at the same time.

I'm very sorry to the Informant though. :/ He was probably the most helpful person I have ever talked to with Telstra. Easily the best during this situation. I wish him all the best.

TLDR: Got Large Plan for $33 a month, Might have got someone fired…. (After 4 weeks)

  • Finally got everything sorted via writing up a complaint. Got my data and another $20 credit so a total of $250. Still no apple music but ceebs caring anymore won't really use it.

37 days, 5 Live Chats, 9 phone calls, and one TIO complaint later, everything is sorted. I have 7.46GB of data (close enough to 7.5GB, urgh) and my 'My Account' is working. I was reimbursed $24 for the two months I was unable to claim the Apple Music offer, and I managed to get myself a $200 reimbursement (on top of the $200 welcome credit and $30 data credit). All up, I'll only be paying $170 for the duration of the 12 month contract. And if you subtract the cost of Apple Music, $26 isn't too bad for a year of service.

  • had already received my total promised data allocation…

then 2 weeks ago i entered my number for the bonus 500mb apple music offer.. https://www.telstra.com.au/applemusic/500mb-bonus-data-offer

was taking a while, i was resigned to the fact that i prob wouldnt get it, and i wouldnt bother going through the hassle… then, lo and behold, received sms notification today that my data allowance has been increased by that 500mb
