Folks what console has the best Driving Simulator? and what would that game be called? ( i wasn't very impressed with GT5 on PS3)
- Xbox One has Forza 6 (skip 5 - heard it was mediocre) and Forza Horizon 2 (not a sim, but close enough).
- Both PS4 and Xbox One has Project Cars, which is a new direct competitor to the Forza games.
- The best options (if you have the money) is buying a gaming PC, where games like rfactor and iracing has even more realistic options to tinker with.
Forza 5 was awesome, it just got destroyed in reviews because it was a launch title and people wanted to hate the XB1. It was the best playing Forza by a country mile, but because it had cardboard cutout crowds (like every single racing game in existence….) and the optional microtransactions it copped a lot of undeserved criticism.
With Forza 6 out now however there is really no reason to go back to Forza 5, as it's an upgraded F5.
One thing that works against the XB1 is the lack of steering wheel options. There are only a few that work, and they're all $500+ iirc.
Loading times on Forza 5 are terrible. Worse than GT5 even.
@twig: they were terrible, no doubt, but nothing beats GT5s loading. Going from one menu to another took 30+ seconds of loading lol.

The Logitech G920 was on sale recently I think it worked out around $250. Cheap option for Xbox one racing, but I have to be honest after setting up my PC properly there's no way I'm going back to console racing.

Personally, I went with the Xbox One for Forza. Project Cars isn't all that flash on the One though, apparently runs better on the PS4, and even better on the PC.
I'm absolutely amazed with Project Cars mate. I'm playing on the PS4 version over at ROOZ (Google it) and having a blast with clean racing and weekly race meetings in a league with several divisions to suit all skill levels. The game apparently runs a bit better on PS4.
Gran Turismo 7 is coming to PS4 and is the best real driving simulator, also PS4 has all the best wheels to get the simulation experience.
Since you're asking which console. I am assuming you're not interested in a PC Driving Simulator (because that's where you'll find the best experience). If that assumption is true, then Project Cars is the most "realistic" driving simulator, and it's available on both XBox One & PS4 as suggested above. That's my recommendation.

There's still a lot of the old cuh-11xx stock floating around so unless you purchase in store it's uncertain what you will get (which is why this deal is good). Strangely though, I called big w bourke St and south yarra (VIC) and neither of them have any stock for the 500gb model, and supposedly the next restock isn't until the 7th, when this deal will be over :-/
@lyle88: the Melbourne city store has over 30 consoles all of which are 1200 model so not sure who you spoke to but they aren't telling you the truth.
@L1QU1DD: weird, do you think its worth seeing if the price dips a bit lower on boxing day or just get one now?
its the 1200, got one today.
I had know idea and the staff member opened the box and showed me how it was the new model (I had know idea of model numbers, just knew there was a new model)
New one doesnt have a shiny top and has buttons for the power and eject.

I don't really see the deal here. Big W store stock levels are never that great. Currently you can buy the same console from Big W ebay store delivered for $368.90 after cash rewards.
You can purchase the 1TB version + 3 games delivered from Target ebay store for $400.90 after cash rewards.
This deal may only be of benefit for people wanting to use gift cards, but otherwise not worth the hassle to save $0.90 on the current ebay deal.

New 1TB console alone would be worth the extra $32.90 IMO, even without the games. If you want black, that is.

I dont think the cuh-12xx (c chassis) model with 1tb has hit the stores yet, except in a few select bundles (battlefront I think, maybe also mgs5)
I got excited at this deal but then saw the Target one. It came down to $402.7 after cash rewards. So essentially $53 pays for for 3 games + double the capacity. Even if the games are sold for $10 each that means you're paying $23 to double the capacity, a no brainer IMO.
can you tell me how did you get the 402 price, frankly i have never used cashrewards so you might have to show me the steps please.

Xbox 360 was only $69 with 3 games for boxing day 2013. Might dive a bit earlier into this gen of consoles but still loving the 360.
Nice. If you had no console at all, honestly at this point I'd still say pick up a 360 (or PS3) just because of the sheer amount of games and the god damned low prices.
My PS4 is nice and all, but I'll admit the only reason I got it day one was to make fun of the asshole who had a PS3 for 4 years before me. There was no need to upgrade then and even now there's still little reason to, Metal Gear Solid 5 got a (albeit crappy) last gen port, it still gets the new Call of Duty's (Blops 3's campaign was terrible, nothing lost there to be honest) and it even got a "new" GTA just yesterday.

I think it's good for a stand-alone console. but considering the 1TB + 3 games + 3 months Stan for $415.20 (and $402.74 with cashback). value wise I would say the Crew/Journey/Minecraft + 3 months of Stan is worth more than $30-45 (not to mention the 500GB extra storage).
I have gone off console gaming. The games are expensive and they only work for that generation. I remember having a fire sale to get rid of my last PS3 games.
I like the PS3 as a device but its sole purpose now is as a media device (Both Netflix and from the media server).
I wonder if it gets sad and wonders why I dont want to play with it anymore…
Oh and I have rejoined the PC master race!
