  • wish i had known of this yesterday and i could have maybe found the wolfenstein The old Blood and the New order PC Versions.

One store i rang said they were getting out of Video games

  • I thought posting rules specify more info than just an upto 70% off sale?

  • -2

    Lg 4K 40" $240, $308 with 3 year replacement warranty. Thanks TA

    • Which store?

    • Is it a good idea to get an extended warranty from dick smith? Isn't there a decent chance they might be closing down soon?

      • +5

It's never a good idea to get an extended warranty anywhere.

      • You never need extended warranty. That's what consumer law is for.

    • New or display?

    • do you have bar code no or cat no please for the lg tv

  • 1st trip yesterday- roccat konepure $18
2nd trip today- sims 4 LIMITED EDITION + Civilisation beyond earth -both $10 (someone bought one copy just before closing :( )

No idea what else was on special. Glad local DSE is in a quiet shopping center with lots of old ppl. Noone was waiting outside, no obvious OzBargainers, 2-3 customers on average. (yesterday evening heard someone say 'did you check ozbargain' at the games tho)

4 copies of gta v ps3 available, didnt get .

    • Where did you see the roccat? which store?

      • I got the last one, but prior to the sale most/all stores had them.

  • Anyone see a good sub 300$ tv around Melbourne?

  • +3

Logitech Harmony Ultimate down to $100, cheapest on eBay around $180

  • Hmm at my local store they have a massive roll of clearance tape on the counter but none of the TVs are marked on clearance. Will go back later.

    • According to comments above, you have to ask. or get them to check stock for other stores on their PCs.

      • Yeah I didn't have time to ask and their staff were all busy. That's why I'm going back later.

  • So it seems only some stores are doing good deals on TV's?

  • +3

Tbh I went in hoping to get a cheap SLR for my dad.
There were basically 4 display cameras left, none of them SLR.
Ended up walking away with the Fujifilm S4800 which is kinda like a bridge camera between P&S and SLR.
    It was $48.
I think the retail is meant to be $248.
It's old stock so I don't know what other retailers would sell it at but it was on ozbargain 7 months ago for $100 so I guess it's not too bad

  • +1

Pretty much all cleared at Eastgardens. Apparently yesterday was 'console day' so prices are back 500-600 for standard non bundled consoles. Eastgardens no consoles on special neither Miranda or Randwick. I was told that old bundles like Titan fall may still have clearance price but none left in Sydney. 3 XB1s in Miranda but not on special. Someone bought the last canon 1200d for $450 kit at Eastgatdens while I was there which I guess is good? Miranda guy told me pretty much everyone brodened the stock when stores opened yesterday so unless I came first thing I was unlikely anyway.

    • +4

      yesterday was 'console day'

By any chance, did you ask them if they knew when 'genuine specials day' was?

  • Picked up some XB1 and PS4 games which seemed like good value. Went to 2 different stores in Victoria not many other deals there by the look of it. TVs and laptops were all 20% off or so.
It was funny, heard a customer come in and argue with staff that iPhones should be on clearance too.

  • Thanks TA. So last year's deals are still running as well? I live in the middle of nowhere so I doubt all the good stuff was snapped up (I got a few goodies though)>

    • +2

Ohhh the joys of being the only OzBargainer in town.

    • Yep :) and I meant to say yesterday's deals, are they still going?

  • if anyone is looking for a playstation tv, ashfield should have a couple left… they aren't out on the shelf so ask them to grab one from out back

stock levels showed three, i bought one before close so you may be in luck today

also they had a bunch of ps4 games out the back too, nothing on the shelf… from what i remember there was evolve, destiny, infamous, alien isolation and minecraft

    • How much are they selling PlayStation TVs for?

      • $30

  • Any deals on laser printers? West coast not open yet, will probable go camp out now :)

  • has anyone checked highpoint VIC? I need to hang out the washing before I can go check :(

    • I was told no sale on apple and samsung stuff, asked for old version demo piece but was refused too…few games are on sale

      • Thanks! Asked about all the TVs. None in stock.

  • +1

Someone just purchased a Lyttro camera for $49 at Bourke st meblourne
From memory it was around $2000 6-7 months back!

  • +1

Nothing at Fairfield this time around, don't waste your time for the trip :) Staff were very nice and helpful on the other hand (tried to search for bargains for me etc.) which was pretty cool!

  • I wonder if "garratt torlesse" and "886648" will complain that this isn't a bargain today!!

Pity I can't get to a store today, hopefully the big big 70% off everything clearance leaked in SMH is true for Saturday

  • +6

I just walked into the George St Sydney store. The only items that are marked down are the things you can get cheaper elsewhere anyway. Some remote control toys etc.

This sale is as their shareprice: dissapointing. Once again, dick has done it… much hype with not much substance.

    • Yah, so disappointing I would've given it two "S"s as well.

    • I went in yesterday and found similar.. nothing ticketed for sale.. just a table out front with skylanders on on it and a box of camera boxes.

    • +2

much hype with not much substance.

      It's a CLEARANCE SALE

You really think George St store in the middle of Sydney CBD would have anything? You need to get out into the 'burbs to find a bargain where there would be less foot traffic than the CBD.

      • Would make sense if they did have something at George St. Not much of a sale if you hide the stock in places that are rarely visited. But probably true, if i see the history of deals for DSE.

    • the clearance items arent marked down on tickets. they have a list of all the clearance stuff printed on A4 sheets of paper.

there were phones, laptops, tvs (display model)

couldnt take photos as left phone at work.

      Review of Martijn's neg

      I agree. Good job.

    • I agree too

    • The only items that are marked down…

Hi Martijn, please read the updated post. Items are not 'marked' down. You need to ask the sales rep for the specials. I'd hate for you to miss out :)

      • So it's "strike a deal with the DSE sales rep"?

        • Read it how you will. As I've stated, and plenty of others can confirm, none of the 'sale' items are actually tagged as such. Just trying to be helpful :)

        • -6

          @tightarse:

I am not judging you, I appreciate your helpfulness.
This, IMHO, is not a deal. It is no different than striking a deal with a sales rep to get a discount of an advertised price at any other shop.

  • Lismore store still had Nikon D3200 and Canon (1200D?) stock this morning if anyone's interested. Unfortunately missed out on the 7D Mark II, it was sold yesterday, kicking myself… Managed to grab a Pelican Storm GoPro Case iM2050GP2 for $23 and Shadow of Mordor PS4. Most other good deals either already sold or had no stock to begin with.

    • +3

Just reading the words '7D Mark II' are making me feel depressed. That's one deal I regret missing out.

  • +1

Colonnades ADL - barely any ticketed sales, staff reckons no Vitas or GoPros left in the company :^(( anyone in ADL got a Vita + willing to sell??

    • If you have the time to visit Marion shopping center, try that one. A guy at the West Lakes mall told me that's their biggest/center store so if you can't get anything from there then don't waste your time, I guess.

I was looking for a camera yesterday and got there just before they closed and it was sold out. I didn't bother looking at anything else.

      • I called Marion amd while they said they had one in stock, they were unable to find it :^(
I'll be in Canberra in Jan also so if anyone there wants to sell theirs, preferably without a hefty markup haha

        • had one in stock, they were unable to find it

One of the staff has stashed it away.

  • +2

Thanks, TA. The staff at my local store were flabbergasted! Reckon I upsold one of them a TV too…

Got the Changhong 40 inch with three year warranty. 117 bucks. Less with my discount. So cool!

Was tempted by the JVC 50 inch for 209.70 but I don't reckon I have the space for it! All the JVCs seem to be on special too. 149.70.

All in all, I didn't need a new TV but still! Sucker for a good deal. Got me out of bed and out in public in the clothes I slept in…

    • What's the model of that jvc ?

      • 50 inch is LT-50N550A

    • Were the TVs boxed or display?

      • Display, but the one I chose they had a boxed one too. So I got it.

        • Damn my store told me they were all still normal price, I'll need to go back and have a few words!

        • @Mysterious: haha. Yep my store had only gotten the prices.

        • @Selenium: Oh, so it was only specific to your store?

        • +1

@Mysterious: No no. They obviously just hadn't gotten the memo until I mentioned the sale. Quite surprised they were.

    • I let my mum know and she told all her co-workers. Just got a message saying they'd bought all the rest, so Mornington may now be a bust!

They have other things on special though. The guy mentioned a Toshiba Chromebook for 150 I think. Sounded tempting.

Anyway, good luck to everyone today.

  • +2

I have a feeling that the DS staff will make a fair bit of money from these sales.

    • +7

I think they deserve it, they weren't allowed to buy anything yesterday so we had our fun in the sun already. If I was working at DSE and they allowed me to get something cheap first I wouldn't say no. Blame DSE not their staff - after all they are just people like you and me.

      • Yes we are all people, can't disagree with that.
But if I worked at DS, I would only get one or two items that I need.
I wouldn't 'broden' the shop and profit from it.

        • Well you sir are a great person and good will come to you. There's no point of making a deal out of it, it's reality so let's just savour our own bargains and not think about what others have.

  • +2

Got a Sony action camera for $39.

    • Where from?

      • +1

I got last one at Randwick and free $10 voucher every purchases make in-store. Very nice staffs.

      • Karingal store (VIC).

  • +1

Dick Smith Camberwell is switched onto sale. Walked in and went straight to Blue Ray DVDs
I strongly suggest you get any items scanned even if not ticketed. The guy had to scan these items a few times to make sure there wasnt an error.

Picked up the following. Receipt will be uploaded once I work out how to.

    Panasonic Bluray DMR-PWT540GL = $119.70
    LG DVB-T HR936T = $29.80

  • +1

West Lakes store reporting, there's nothing there as well. At least I couldn't find anything mentioned in this deal (maybe one could get lucky in the Marion store, as that's the biggest one here in SA). Enough for DSE bargain hunting for the last two days with a negative result. F you, Dick!

  • Whereabouts AFC23? Can peeps post which store they bought the item from please?

Is it worth hitting up emporium melb?

  • Prices weren't advertised in the store, had to ask the staff to scan the item for the actual prices. laptops on sale for $599 drops further to $349 and $399 laptops drops further to $249.

The problem is that they can't locate the laptops?????!!!!

Really!!??, its on the system, the system says its on stock and you cant find it anywhere???

    Neutral bay store

    • +2

yeah because the staff have got them hidden for themselves….. good for them ;)

      • Exactly what I'm trying to say!

        • I've had this issue heaps of times when doing Click and Collect. The consensus from the staff is that "so much stock goes walking"

  • nothing much at Southport on the Goldie…. apparently they have the deals as stated above but nothing had tickets on it so it made it a bit confusing…

  • David Jones at macquarie park has 4 ex display 65-70 uhd tvs for 1500

Trundled into my local, regional NSW DSE. Store was a disaster, with just a basket (with balloons) of PS4/Xbone games marked down to $20, which isn't cheap enough to be excited by. The camera section has big 'clearance' tape all over them, but almost zero stock (though, IIRC, there are two D3200 for $248(?) in there).

The TV and tablet section is untouched, and both staff members I spoke to only spoke of the 10% off sale that is in the catalogue.

To be fair, they did have a mountain of freshly printed tickets on their counter that they were very tardily putting up around the store.

    In short: http://giphy.com/gifs/aint-nobody-got-time-for-that-gif-bWM2…

    • still have two D3200? which store? thanks

    Sony KD65X9000B $1380 - Northlakes

    • +1

That is a good price! Called them but they said nothing there ha ha

  • If anyone is interested, Broadmeadows store has 2x Nikon J3 left @ $99. One is display.
