    You see..even their own staff not willing to help the company during dire times. They would rather lose customers walking than score a bargain for themselves. This is a bloody good chance to change customers' perceptions about DSE & possibly gain some brand loyalty. That just tells you how bad the company is run from the top down to the bottom…Pretty sure most DSE staff are starting to look for a second job now

      The communication from their head office is crap, why/how would staff care if there's a fire sale and they're given next to no communication or information…

      Why do people automatically blame retail staff? They have next to zero input in how a store or company is run.

      Instead of venting at some kid working part time for award wages, maybe pick up the phone or send an email to their head office?

    Samsung Galaxy S5 almost $500, hardly what I consider cheap!
    Also, any cheap decent stuff will be gone before the stores even open.
    Mark my words, as I will be very surprised if this is not the case.

    Agree on all counts.

    Where was the discounted Apple ex display and demo stock - was it out on the floor? Or were they taking them off the Apple display area? Emporium still had all their Apple display stuff there.

      They said they didn't have any for sale, at the Cranbourne store yesterday. Told to try elsewhere. Seems a rather hit and miss affair, dependant on your preferred store/s … or staff member/s. Yes, they still had an Apple ipad (on sale for about $50 cheaper … but not really a bargain).

      These are still active products, and the company is only clearing the end of life or discontinued lines.

      The goods deals were brand new products part of the eol or discontinued line for the clearing price. Most of the display models (TV / computers) were from last year and have been running for well over 5,000 hours already.
      The displays LG 65LB7500 have all been running for ~7,000 hours. I even had a computer running for over 16,000 hours…

      Yes, bargains are nowhere as good as the TVs and such but there's a huge variety from various brands and stock is very healthy on at least one of the clearance models in every store.

    Just to recap:

    Yesterday:

    2 x 5th GEN iPod 32GB = $100 ($50 each)
    1 x Nikon P520 camera = $97

    Today:

    1 x Juice up 16000mAh Power Bank = $20
    1 x Logitech G510 Keyboard = $20

    Not really sure if there's much left in Knox, Glen or Camberwell.

    Most certainly not Knox, I was there this morning and no phones or tablets on clearance.
    Just an item here and there.
    You'll need to take it up to the counter for scan to see if it is on clearance or not.

    I'll head to Camberwell now.
    There was a Canon 1100D with 2 lens kit yesterday but staff told me it was on special for $399.
    So I put it back.
    Then I saw someone in OZB who bought the same kit for $199 at a different store.
    Not sure what's going on there.

    I think some stocks are being withheld by staff members working in the shop.

    I went to the Glen yesterday and they had a D3200 with body only.
    One guy took it out for me and he was about to scan it for me
    Then one other staff member told him he can't sell it to me because the lens were missing.
    From what I can gather, people got the same camera with just the body for a further reduced price.
    So CLEARLY.. the camera is there for a reason and the lens are probably hiding in the storeroom somewhere.
    Checked computer, there should be 2 of them in stock at the store.
    Nope, they couldn't find them.

    Guy from Knox check system and found 2 in Eastland.
    He called them up for me and they said no stock.

    SURELY… stocks just don't go missing.
    Especially when they are not floor stocks.

    Went into Bateau Bay Dick Smith Store right on opening, it was empty.
    I asked about the clearance sale and she had the pile of tickets on the counter.
    She asked what I was looking for and we both picked out a PVR they had in stock for $89.
    They looked to have another 8 or 10 there at 9am.
    Nothing like going through the tickets and bargain hunting with the Dickies Team Member.
    I also bought a cheap Motorola Mobile and could have bought a HP Chromebook for a little over $100 but have no need for it.
    It was snapped up about 5 mins later.
    No cheap TV's but am happy with what I ended up with.

    On tickets - staff comments was we are waiting on next batch of tickets but there are none for the extra items I was looking for.

    Rally I feel for the staff, they get it from both ends, be nice and if they are not at least we helped there day. PollyAnna.

      They have 3 harmony ultimate remotes (I just bought one)

      They also have a bunch of xbone, ps4, PS3 and 360 games
      Xbone - minecraft, evil within, lots of nba 2k15, call of duty (I think)
      PS4 - at least 20 last of us, nba 2k, evil within
      PS3 - borderlands pre sequel, rayman, COD GHOSTS, battlefield 4
      360 - ghosts, battlefield 3 and 4, minecraft (I think)
      Also about 10 PC games

      There are 4 gaming bins out the front but check the gaming shelves at the back of the shop.

      No cheap PS4's and no cameras.

      did you get the harmony ultimate one or the harmony ultimate hub? I've just arrived at Armidale, was told they had 2 of the sale remotes, but both were the harmony one. this is the non sale version (although he was going to sell to me at $100) but I'm after the hub as I need Rf.

        It was the harmony ultimate (not the ultimate one - rather it included the hub). $100 they were down from $498. Good but even with the silly button placement at the top of the remote.

    It showed no stock online for the store.
    But went in and it was right there on the self with yesterdays price tag.
    Scanned, even cheaper today.

    Might pay to re visit some stores.

    Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up tightarse - managed to snag a new SLR (have been wanting one for ages) - Nikon D5500 for $447 with $100 cashback and my fiance managed to snag a 50 inch JVC TV for $209. Picture quality on tv is good but sound not so good but hey, that's what surround sound speakers are great for! :P

    I have done extensive search for TV around Melbourne today but no luck, there is stock with Doncaster DJ but they are denying it, also two with Sheparton DS but they are saying that those are damaged which I don't believe. Fountaingate seems to have some stock but couldn't go there its too far. Does someone know any stock around for any TV 50" and higher. In need of TV right now.
