        • Games were bought up mostly, they had last years 2K14 basketball game across both platforms. Plenty of (non-clearance) Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundles. I thought the stand alone (non-bundled) PS4 and XB1 consoles were being cleared and there were a few left as well so I don't understand why they are still full price. I didn't ask them to scan or double check though, they seemed busy enough.

        • @juzz0: Any TVs?

        • @bargainist: Crap TVs on display. All very old FHDs, none ticketed.

        • @juzz0: Okay thanks.

… there was nought stock available for any wily OzBargainer. They had searched the lands high. They had searched the lands low.

On the fourth day the Sun shone once again … and those of more than a little faith … were seen marching their ways to their local JB stores. Those store managers were seen rubbing their hands with glee. "Come unto us" they cried on unison, "For we will sell you the goods you desire … at our special prices."

  • 3x iPad Air 2 Smart Covers (Apple branded) left at indro ds
Not many TV's left, like 1 40" LG or something

  • i sent my mum and they wouldn't even help her! bunch of dummies they kept saying it scans normal blah blah blah with out checking!

    • +1

      i sent my mum

      bunch of dummies

      How old are you?!

      • +2

work mate! some of us do work! that is not the point they should be more helpful to an older woman!

        • +1

Why do people keep assuming that people dont work if you are at these sales? You do know there are businesses that employ people for all hours of the day or work different days of the week.

        • +5

@Venom_TAG: i did not say that! i am just answering why i sent my mum! she worked over night and went when she woke up!

  • +5

Something tells me that this sale is actually a liquidation……

  • DS in Narre Warren, very helpful staff, bought a couple of PS4 games for $20ea and a couple of harmony ultimates, surprised there was anything decent left by 4PM today.

    • What are the PS4 games left there?

      • cant say for certain whats left, but I saw sports games eg FIFA/NBA and evil within, minecraft, shadow of mordor, far cry

        • Sounds like a decent mob out at "Fountain Gate" unlike their compatriots at Cranbourne.

  • +1

Wasn't it to clear excess stock or could be more coming

  • +1

the g500 mouse I bought for $18, amazon is selling for $150 wtf. Apparently its a run out model which people like and are willing to pay more than RRP for it.

    • well done, first the $199 macbook, now the mouse. Must be your lucky day.
Next, buy a scratchie or play some Keno.. who knows

      • Dick Smith Phoenix has heaps of G500 in stock.

        • g500 is 28 at ebgames

  • Sigh, was the victim of my own focus - went to a store to pick up copies of GTAV and Shadows of Mordor for Xbox One, and was so happy to find both games that I decided not to grab the Nikon J3's and Nikon Nex F3's the staff mentioned were going for $99. I only realised today how much the cameras normally sell for. :(

    • +4

To be fair, it's probably fairer on people who are genuinely after the Nikons that you didn't buy them just for resale. I think you should pat yourself on the back for not buying something you didn't need!

I understand a lot of people are doing that, though.

      • +3

Ha ha, I wasn't thinking of resale - when I heard the price, I just assumed they were crappy point and shoot cameras. Had I known they were decent ILC's, I would have grabbed one for myself as I don't have one yet. :(

        • +1

          Soz, my mistake!

        • +1

          @HereBobButtons:

My mistake was greater and more painful. ;)

        • Dupe!

  • +3

I picked up ex-display Seiki 55" UHD TV for $239. But now realised I won't get 4k netflix since it doesn't have HDCP 2.2. Oh well there's always 4K porn I guess

Tv list from DJ sydney cbdhttp://s23.postimg.org/sgbk7ax23/20151202_163655.jpg

Floor stock / displays available for some. Just ask.

    • You're doing God's work, son.

    • By the look of it nothings left?

      • Surprisingly, there are still TV's that are available

        • JVC 40" LT40N550A - display available ($149)
        • some of the big ticket items ($800+ up) are still available on display (not labeled as sold)
  • +2

Just got back from Camberwell, poor guys, they pretty much out of today's discounted items, showed the guy the OzB thread and his comment was: "I'll have to join tonight so i actually know whats coming up for the next day and can prepare"
Sounds like head office has really f'd them over.

    • yea, one of the staff in my local dse said their head office didn't tell them anything about the sales, its the customers that told him the sales.

      • +1

Head office didn't tell him anything?

        Yeah, that'd be BS.

  • Picked up a 1TB Panasonic twin tuner PVR for $10. But no remote, box or manual :( Model DMR-HW220. Dated: May 2013!

Remote from an old Panasonic DVD player works on everything so far. Otherwise one of my Harmony remote will fix that. Watching it now.

Also bought sealed LG 500GB twin tuner PVR / 3D Blueray / DVD recorder for $80 (shelf price $549). Model BR625T.

Of course like almost all stock, these were marked full price, so asked to scan (took display price tag to counter). Manager reduced price of Panasonic as she knew box etc was missing.
Both were last stock in 2 Brisbane stores.

They even threw in 2 free 8GB Emtec USB drives.
Another great afternoon of bargains :-)

    • which Brissie stores?

      • Well no stock of those now - Carindale & Cannon Hill.

The LG unit should be at other stores. No stock found of the Panasonic in Brisbane, just incorrect old stock on system.

The ALTECH UEC PVR9600 Triple Tuner 1TB PVR is $89, but I wouldn't recommend it.

It was priceless watching the faces of staff as the clearance price scanned - they were totally unaware of prices & stunned ;-)

Met another Ozbargainer at Cannon Hill - both of us looking for the elusive cheap TV's without any luck.

Went to the watergardens (VIC) store around 130 today, they had a plethora of games in stock, mainly 360 and ps3 games towards the back left of the store. A handeful of vita ones too.

Most of the ps4 and xbox1 games were sitting at the front of the counter and there was quite a bit of variety there. Everything was discounted as per the pricelists.

If anyone wants anything I can tell you what they had or didn't have, but like I said there was a large variety and cant promise that it's still there now/tomorrow morning

Went looking for GTA5 on ps4 but apparently the lady at reception told me the system showed they had stock but nothing got delievered or something on that lines. Ended up settling for The last of us ps4 for $20 and Sims 4 PC for $10, lovely little xmas pressie for my sister :)

As for tv deals a bloke bought one at the time i was there, couldnt tell you what he bought but there was a few tv deals available (Go to the counter and ask or towards the far back of the store and look).

    • No chance they had any dslrs?

      • +1

I have no clue about camera's man so I didn't look at all. Sorry

  • +2

Went to DS but strange how still all regular price. Approached to counter and was answered 'no' to all my queries. I saw a bunch of neat red labels (never been used) for special advertised ie, "up to 70% TV…" I was replied that they never ever had stock for display TV or anything.
I found strange of how the store is full of stuffs but they refused to assist you. They rather talk and laugh with each other but won't be happy if you ask for assistance.
I won't be surprised if they claimed to made a loss of profit due to having staffs like that. I ever satisfied with service when buying stuffs at DS

    • I experienced a similar situation:
I then asked the manager to locate some stock, and found some at other stores.
Then asked to put it on hold for me until I got there to pick it up
Was told that they cannot put clearance items on hold
Got to the store and funny enough that the item was on hold for someone else!!

Thinking about complaining to head office but whats it going to do….

      • Wouldn't bother.

Folks at head office are probably discussing their redundancy entitlements and looking for strong cardboard boxes right now.

    • Which store was that? That sucks big time.

      • Mermaid, Gold Coast

        • Well who knows, maybe someone from head office reads this and gives the staff there a "kick in the bum"…

        • I reckon thats always been a crappy store and crappy staff compared to other Dick Smiths.

  • Anyone had any luck with Bluetooth Speaker or 2TB Portable HDDs?

  • Never ever satisfied

    • -1

      Must be female then…

  • Are brand new in box TVs getting cleared as well or just display stock?

  • +4

In a follow up to my previous comments, I visited the Colonnades SA store again and asked for a price list. "We don't have one" was the response. How are people supposed to know what is discounted and what isn't?

The staff member then asked what items I was interested in. I said 50 to 55" TVs. He took me over to their selection and said the prices are pretty much what's already there. Most TVs were not discounted at all. A couple of old 40" display models were about 70% off. He offered me an $899 Dick Smith brand TV for 'best price' $750, but only if I didn't take the bonus $129 Sony blu-ray player with it.

The staffer did pipe up that they did have one 55" Panasonic for $55, but it was listed as out of stock, and I quote "I would have bought that one if it was available". The staff have already snapped up the most heavily discounted items and play dumb when you ask about the up to 70% off sale.

    • Yep, pretty much sums it up…

    • :^O a staff member said exactly the same thing to me when I asked about the Go Pro!! same store too!!

  • See what tommorrow brings I guess well done to the people that got good bargains

  • is there any stock at any store, seems like all stores out of stock unless you are first ones in the door in the morning.

  • What a load of sh(# went in to my local and they had 0 discounts displayed anywhere. I looked up the lists that I saw on the front page and they had 0 of any of the items in stock (because they are a shit store) I asked the staff member about the sale and he just wandered around and told me that the marked prices were what there was.

I did find one TV that I maybe could have gotten because it was on one of the lists but I didn't really want it that much - A 40" Pana FHD TV.

They looked so shady I can almost guarantee that they went through and purchased all the heavily discounted items themselves for Ebay

    • -2

If any staff hide items for resale they should go to jail. That's what would happen in China if you don't act in the interest of the company and the people.

      • Nah, they wouldn't jail you in China. They'd probably kill you.

      • lol

  • I declined a display model of JVC 55" TV selling for $210, did I make a mistake? Or will there be many more branded brand new TVs on sale?

    • Yes! And no!

    • +1

      No. U saved your honey

      • thats a good deal :/?

    • Holy hell, I would have bought that.
      Where?

      • It's gone, guy next to me that overheard the price took it up.

    • Yes. shrug

    • +2

As good as that price is, for an ex display TV that is an average brand and average size I would have declined it also.

      • +3

Exactly. A bargain isn't spending money on something you wouldn't normally spend money on just because it's cheaper than rrp. Bargain is getting something you actively want or need at a cheaper price.

So many people in this thread wasting their money.

        • +4

99% of people on this site buy what they don't need

    • I declined the 40" JVC for $89 as it was the display model on the ground on boxes.
Cheap but I never wanted it in the first place and average quality brand pus how many people have fiddled with it?

  • +1

I think I might have been able to actually get some good prices on TV's this morning if I actually asked for a price check.

As I was one of the 1st ones in the store, and asked the Customer service guy if TV's were having deals and he said he didnt know so I just left. Damn I should of hung around and insisted on price check. This was Westfield Sydney store.

  • Nothing in Broadway , Burwood , Bankstown DSE ,

    • Nothing as in no sales or no stock?

    • what about ps4 ?

  • +3

Looks like "conradl" scored the best bargain today with the Samsung 55" FHD LED UA55H7000 for $199. Man that is an insane price.

    • I would happily pay up to $500 for this

  • Did anyone get any MacBooks in Adelaide?

    • +6

No, Adelaide is so advanced, they don't stock old models apparently.

      • Adelaide boy born and bred, love the place but more likely chance that our stores are thinking that new stock is actually old models.

  • RAR 2.1 chan sound base $26. Sounds good for the size (i have one). Perfect if you have a cheap 40"-48" tv with crap speakers. Sit it on top :)

  • Picked up a ex display Samsung 3D Blu-ray player with a 500GB HDD (BD-F8500A)with all accessories in the box for $34.80 at DS Ryde.

    • & I felt good paying $89 fml lol… Nice deal

  • I just finished work and just read this post
Have I missed out on the bargains?!

    • Unlikely

      • sounds like i missed out on alot of wasting my time and getting Dicked around

  • Just got a 55inch tv from my local store in Wangaratta for $236. And they still have Ps4 500gb for $299, they also said xb1 same price.

    • They didn't have tickets up either. Lol. Was it the Panasonic?

  • +1

JVC 40" tv for $150 - thanks OzB

  • Wow looks like there some good stuff on the price list! Christmas prezzies sorted? Didn't get a chance to go today, wonder if ill get anything tomorrow 😕

  • A lot of hating going on here. Looks like there is a very real possibility that Dickies is doomed and the staff may be soon be seeking new employment. Clearing stock (even older models) at fire sale prices doesn't instill a great deal of confidence that poor old Dick is much longer for this world.

    • +1

      I can't imagine a world without dick

  • +2

Is there any reason a store would be exempt from these sales? I've just been to my local and they seem to have a decent amount of stock on some items, but the best they're doing is like 50% off on some of their dse 40"s atm. Had a chat with staff the guy didn't really seem to have any idea about this sale.

    • I think you will find lots of stores have no idea. My local store only found out this afternoon when they rang head office.

    • -1

if you read the other posts from other ozbargainers, they also got the same response from DSE staff. I do have to say that the staff were quite nice but yeh definitely some dodgyness going on. anyway i have alot of free time so im camping outside the DSE Bourke street store at the moment.
