Staff telling me there were no stocks of any tvs and Apple products, but two guys were buying all the tvs and iPods, and even the Belkin cables ($1 each) in Brighton dick, I saw at least 6 or 7 tvs and 7 iPods they were buying.

    • They could be anyone from staticice or ebay…… Stock-up time for them.

    • Nice! Instead of giving someone a bottle of scotch for Xmas, here you are a TV.

    • But do all stores have them for this price? Or only selected stores?

      • its all clearance stuff (old stock they are getting rid of) so some will some wont.

  • +10

Price list from George St Sydney store, but doesn't seem to have any TV's on there:
    https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B7XJdQJKPAgjT1NNYWlO…

    • Nothing 'in transit' I'm guessing that means they aren't receiving old warehouse stock in to clear. That the clearance is just on store inventory?

I have no idea since I'm not working at DSE but I was clinging onto the slim hope stores might be receiving more back-house clearance stock from HQ.

  • -3

No ps4 stock at all at Penrith, when will they stock…. Not anytime soon.

Also the 70% sales is BS they have neged me on a fair few things in the clearance boxes like the logitec gaming mouses

    • +4

It's a clearance sale. Not everyone will get what they want unfortunately.

      • +5

To be fair TA I've seen better deals taken down for lack of stock than this

      • TA I'm not an idiot, they clearly have a lot of the same products in a clearance bin yet they denie that on sale, so I move on but neatly half the items I pull out of the clearance bins are not on sale yet have been put there and a lot of it.

Also just getting prices for ps4 as I'm getting it for Christmas regardless of sale or not the guy was helpful but the store manager was an ass with stock and re stocking.

      • ok so here are some details.

PS TV 3 left in clearance bin marked 70% off - not on sale (only wanted 1)
PS vita game in clearance bin clearly marked for $5 - not on sale (only wanted 1)
Logitech g502 mouse x7 in clearance bin marked 70% off - not on sale (only wanted 1)
4 ps3 titles out of 9 i wanted not on sale for $10 (one of each title)

all apple products not on sale

        laptop are as marked

WTF do i need to explain myself…. i didnt go in there like an mouthing off i was going to spend a bit but yeh staff and manager just started denying everything.

  • +9

I'm not checking out any DS today, but it's fun reading everybody else's experiences. Deal hunting at its best! Go guys! :)

  • Anyone been to the Rockdale or Hurstville stores?

  • +1

Got a ipad air 4g 64 gb 398 mt druitt store (last one)
Macbook air xa1166 11.6 128gb for $499 penrith store (ex display- last one)

I dont know how to upload receipts here, will do when someone guides me

  • +5

Given how 'big' the announcement was, you'd expect to walk in there and see everything marked down. But you still have regular overpriced shit selling at RRP. It's such a waste of time.

    • +2

Honestly…get the item scanned..you'll be surprised…these sales reps probably haven't time to sticker stuff

      • They should have an app we can scan for ourselves to save them so much time.

        • +1

..did you just invent the best app ever?

        • @mr kindface: Yes!

The app is called 'The OZ Scanner' available on IOS, Android and yes even Windows.

        • +1

          @malouphix:
Can you direct me with a link for that app….
          Been looking all afternoon.
Please dont tell me its a joke…I dont want it to be more so than looking like a knob.

          😆

        • +1

          @Playz: Sorry!
          I'm here all week…Boom Boom!

      • good point - i can't be arsed going back though.

  • Anyone know if there's anything left at Parramatta?

  • Any good deals at the Airport West branch?

    • Went there this morning, the staff was reluctant to say much about the deals.
TVs are on deal if you ask but not the LG i wanted, another guy just picked up while i asked him.

  • Gday folks, I managed to pick up a new camera in the sale yesterday (last one at dick smith erina). I got the extended warranty at the same time. Is it worth it to have the warranty? If dick smith shuts down soon, won't it be worthless?

    • +4
      1. It's not worth it.
      2. Extended warranty probably via a third party company so DSE possibly closing shouldn't affect this.
      • +1

        Thanks zeggie, I appreciate it.

  • +4

Watergardens DSE absolutely nothing at all. Asked about the items and said they knew nothing at all about anything and everything at original or ticketed prices.

    • Was about to go in and check. Im assuming there were no PS4 or PC games left either?

      • about 20 PS4 and XB1 games. All quite shit.

        • Thanks for the update mate

    • Also asked about the TV's and how some stores are offering the $49 TV's. They said if it's on the ticket that's the price. Nothing else.

    • Common head office, better call this store and wake them up

they have forgotten about the sales, until the end of the day when they can purchase for themselves ;)

  • +3

I went in and staff had 80+ pages of marked down tickets, they indicated that they were told strictly they weren't allowed to purchase anything themselves.

They didn't seem to be a awful hurry putting out the tickets, probably take them a couple of days to put out

  • +3

Standing in front of DS waiting it open. Only me using Iphone, the other are holding android phones. Feel so lonely :(

    • +3

Time to make a switch to Android!

      • Nah mate, had tried a lot of BBOS, WP and android phones before. For everyday use, i prefer ios.

  • Also as small as Sunbury DSE is. Nothing at all their either. Got told the sale items and clearance items are just the ones you see.

  • +1

Pretty sure eBay/GumTree listings will be 10x more in coming days.

  • Nothing good to mention here from Chullora store.

  • anyone know how much are the chromecast?

  • We need someone to post stock levels!!! C'mon people, make things easier

    • By the time you see the post. it is all gone. Everyone from staticice or ebay…… are stocking up big time.

  • +1

Heaps of stock in WA but nothing on special. Helpful Staff showed me on computer screen.

    • That's very special (or unusual)

      • +1

60 inch tvs were all full price. Even dse brand! Wastage of sick leave.

        • Ouch, make the day fun some other way though :)

  • +4

Just had the store clerk refuse to sell me the Harmony Ultimate Remote for any cheaper than $250 at the Morley Galleria.
They do apparently have them in stock if anyone else wants to try.

    • +1

Im heading to Morley now, any other good deals on TVs ?

      • +1

Was only after the remote to be honest so I didn't really look.

        • +1

          cheers. typical DSE morley hey.

        • +1

@aromatase: I guess WA will miss out on this deal

        • @s26f84: Perth store has a few more.

        • @sky152: what's there in Perth store? Can you give some prices?

        • @s26f84: Only TVs which are the same as what other people posted.
There was a sound bar - Samsung HW-J551 down to $350? Worth the money.
Other than that, I didn't see much else. No Apple sales like what other people were saying. Cameras was still on sale (selected). Sad state really.

  • +3

Had a representative go to Hurstville Forest Rd store. Staff not very friendly or cooperative. Appears they are waiting for this arvo to clean up themselves

    • It's hard to take their word, my local store still had some consoles from yesterday and I understand today's sales differ but was thinking once they are put on clearance they kept on clearance. Worker didn't bother to scan just told me there was no sale on the console. Makes me skeptical.

      • +4

Gosh, why don't you just say "I'll buy it anyway". When they tell you the price, say "changed my mind" and leave. Why do so many people NOT do this?

  • Has anyone seen any desktop computers or monitors as a bargain?

  • +3

Went to the Bourke Street Melbourne store before. Was an epic disappointment like every other dick smith 'sale' .lots of things ticketed but nothing that was truly a bargain. The people getting cheap ipads + tv's probably got them before the staff had a chance.

    • +1

      Thanks for the update!

    • +1

Yes, even when 2 staff members went out the back to look for the TV i wanted.
Its not like they let me look what was there.
And you have to wonder why 2 staff members (the only 2 in the store) had to go for the one thing?

You may have a point about stock being hidden for other reasons, family, friends, etc
Its hard to think they can keep it all for themselves, after all, they are only paid by DSE.

  • +2

Every morning every dse store get a page of markdowns and other price changes. Staff are deliberately hiding these and are not putting up clearance prices!

  • +1

I just visited the Colonnades SA DSE store. 20% of Changhong TVs (yay….), up to 20% off Panasonic and LG, but only display models. 10% off tablets, up to 20% off display laptops. One old 40" TV was heavily discounted. A few half price coffee machines.

All DSE Tvs were still at full price as the 'special' items had hand scribbled 'manager's special' on the tags.

There were two customers (including me) in the whole store. The sale (at least at this store) is a complete waste of time.

What really surprised me, as its been a long time since I visited a DSE store, was that they now sell white goods like coffee machines and microwaves. This is insane. It's a highly competitive, commoditized market with a dozen large competitors.

    • Did you ask for price list?

      • Every large item on special was already marked as such. I didn't ask for a price list. A couple of display laptops were marked as 'ask for a deal', but that's it.

I know this is a radical thought, but, if DSE want to launch a mega sale, they should actually put some effort into letting customers know it's on. Maybe a sign or two in store would be nice.

    • I was there this morning for opening. Got the last LG LED 32" TV, the last Xbox One 500GB with Kinect, 4 games and an extra 1 year warranty for $500 total. So I was happy. I had to ask for special priced items though as they hadn't put up any stickers yet.

David Jones Adelaide CBD have no TVs all cheap ones are showing in stock but are damaged

  • +1

Had a look at Garden city QLD.
Not a whole lot on sale.

Was interested in the PC & PS3 games for $10. Went up to the counter with a few game boxes in hand, they only had the disc for one game >_<
Also after a laptop but they were only a few $100 off.

    Otherwise of note:
Changhong 50" TV $209 ?display model
    JVC 40" TV $149.7

    • Dodgy, usually its the other way round.

      • Yeah You'd think if they were bought from the shelf the packaging would be gone. I suspect they were purchased directly from the stock by staff members.

        • any ipads there? i was there yesterday asking about the ps4's…they had 2 blacks but wouldnt discount even when i said others were getting the black ones for 299.

    • Had similar experience. No discs found so they threw the case in the bin (guess they could fish it out later but i doubt it.). Also got "given" 360 forza horizon for free as they didnt even have any 360s to sell and it was coming up for 1c on the system.

  • +1

Just back from Perth store on William Street.
Pretty busy, could only see 1 staff member on the floor and she looked angry. Rest of the staff were behind tills.
Loads of guys hanging round the TV area looking for a cheap TV.

Looks like if u want to get something, u gotta grab a staff member somehow.

    • +1

Can u please check 60" the deals. Perth city is far. My local dse dos not have any specials.

      • +1

Sorry mate, just got back to work.
There was about 12-15 guys standing round the TV section looking to get served so if u do go, good luck.

  • +3

Bought a Canon DSLR Zoom Lens Kit for $198 from Westfield Sydney store. Was marked $799.

    • Which lens(es)?

      • +2

        In the box:
        •Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens
        •RC-6 Wireless Remote Control
        •LC-888 Cleaning Cloth

  • Can anyone give me the item codes for the iPad air display stock please?
My store wont do a stock lookup without the code.
