Everyone, I'm seeing a lot of comments here about people walking into stores and seeing nothing on sale. You may actually be missing out if you leave. I've just been to Broadmeadows (10:45am) and nothing is tagged. I asked the sales rep, and he took me through the specials.

1x iPad Air 16GB ex demo $99
2x Nikon J3 $99 (one display)

Tvs flying out the door in Perth City.
    I have enough TVs already.
Nothing to exciting so left with no Dent's on my savings account.
Funny to see the same heads back again after yesterday's bargains.

Went to Chadstone VIC David Jones Electronics section (Powered by Dick Smith) 60 mins ago. Staff were just about to update the floor stock with stickers. I got the 65 inch 4k LG 65ub980t display model for $1071 after asking about the sale.

  • Was in Morley Galleria this morning and one of the staffs bought an ex-demo iMac before the store open!

    • Credit to the manager at Galleria who was helpful.
Boo to the manager at the other Morley store, who denied there was anything in Perth, and was almost rude.

There should still be a few cheap TVs around if you are not too fussy.

  • Anyone been to Glen Waverly VIC?

    • Don't bother…staff are not selling the good stuff.
      Argh….

      • Exact thing happened to me at othet stores. :-/

  • +1

I would warn people that are fussy about Pic Quality, to know what you are purchasing before you do.
The JVC 40" i purchased is on a par with a Kogan TV as far as Pic Quality goes.
(In fact, the whole OSD and is very Kogan in style, now i look, so is the frame and base and rear of set).
I got sucked in by price, but really, its not a TV i would want in my home, its even questionable if i'd have it in my bedroom.
It just scratches in for a workshop TV.

But really, its just money wasted in my case, as i would prefer a TV i cant fault when watching it.
Thats me, i under stand some people don't care as much.
Looks like the Mrs does get this one as a Christmas Gift after all… Dam!

Picked up a Sony AS30 FHD Action Camera, $99 down from $239 from the nice people at the myer foodcourt dicksmith. Shout out to this one Dick Smith employee at the George St store I kept running into, must have seen the dude like eight times in the past two days.

    • +1

They worth about that much, plenty at my local dick smiths. They rate quite okay for the price though

Belkin micro charger 30 pin $2
$6 Dick smith brand batteries in nice case ( good for eneloops)

  • Walked in to DSE Macquarie Shopping Centre at lunch, and not much appeared to be happening. Picked up a few PS4 games for $20. Was about to go and pay and a guy walks out with a whole lot of clearance stickers and proceeded to put new prices out for 1 in 3 of the TV's. Appeared to be significant discounts (30-50%). Bought a 40inch LG Smart TV for $650. From a quick online check it appeared to be a good (not exceptional) discount as I could not find it online for less that $900. When paying a guy walked up and asked if there were any ex-demo iPads to which the reply was yes and he picked up 2 for $29 each. None left unfortunately.

    • Ouch. I picked up a Dick Smith brand 54.5" TV from there about 30 minutes ago for $209. Not a great TV but it'll do for the man cave.

  • Thanks OP! Just went to the Broadway store in Sydney, pretty happy with my purchases!

Starcraft II - Heart of the Swarm -$10
    Destiny PS4 - $20
    Civilization: Beyond Earth - $10
Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbone - $20
    Alien Isolation PS4 - $20

    • Which device do you play these games on or are you reselling?

      • I have a PC, PS4 and an Xbone (perks of having a partner who is also a gamer). Sorry, what's your question?

  • +1

Phone cables from a dollar, local DS said no phone cables were on sale. I asked what about the display ones, apparently they will be using their phone so they said no, lol.

DS is such a waste of time.

Walk in with a $3 box of chocolates for the staff and then hassle them for bargains. Their brains will be buzzing from the thought of eating the chocolate and they'll be in a good mood.

If that doesn't work after they've eaten some chocolate tell them you may have licked a couple.

  • anyone get any ex demo apple items from emporium?

    • +1

They sold out at around 10AM according to staff.

Pretty sure 10AM is their opening time lol.

      • yes correct crazy… sales guy said people were queued out the front at 9:30

Got an LG Twin HD Recorder 500 TB with 3d Blu-ray combo..29.80 AUD (Sydney George St)

Not so good review but who cares?

    • 500TB ? it's great bargain, but look like it's 500GB, still a good one ! lol.

    • got this as well at ACT Woden. thanks op

    • Sorry, 500GB.

    Mt Gravatt Garden City
    Sunnybank

    • Well done.

    • +1

Add to that browns plains. Apparently they have nothing at all.

      • They had a more expensive one which was a 55 inch LG down to $599 from $1600, so that's something

    • What about any around the $200 at these stores?

      • DS employees gave this animated answer:
NO display TV left on clearance. LG sale going on 20%

    • +1

      add logan central :'(

    • Add Riverlink
(Except for the ones that were put out back before they opened up this morning, "stocking stuffers" one staff member said to the other with a laugh, it's our payday too - can't really blame 'em looks like most of them will be out of a job soon)

  • +1

Both Dick Smith stores in Perth CBD are pretty barren, but managed to pick up two iPhone 5c 32gb for $300each. I think there were still a few in stock, although there may only be pink left.

  • Any store in brisbane still have a cheap TV? I'm at work now and I couldn't leave. Argh!

    • +1

      Nothing at DJs Queens Plaza.

  • Wollongong store limited range available.. A few phones though.. Staff said more stuff listed tomorrow??

    • Thanks for the update on Wollongong. I was in there about 10-ish this morning, and there weren't many sales tags out. I asked one of the counter staff to scan a few things for me that I'd seen here on massive sale. They scanned at the standard price.

  • Apple iPhone 5C 16gb Blue - $99
    1 left at DSE Carousel.

They also had 13" MacBook Air's for $400.

    • New Macbook Air's?

  • so any items should scan at the price list, including new TV's?

  • This morning (before 11am) went to Taylors Lakes, Sunshine and Melton, then to Caroline Springs only to find that its no longer open there.
NO Televisions, consoles or DSLR cameras avail all stores.

Bought a couple Roccat Kulo 7.1 Headsets for $22, 3x Nikon S02 Touchscreen 13mp Cameras $29 ea and a couple of PC Games $10
Not many items, most will be for gists but justifiable to go for a visit.

Haven't tried Broadmeadows, Airport West or Highpoint.

No luck with the TV's anywhere unfortunately :(
    Good luck everybody else.

    • +1

      NO DEALS AT AIRPORT WEST

      • Dang! Cheers for the heads up was just about to go.
Just picked up an LG 3D Bluray Player for $29 from Watergardens

        • any TV deals while you were at watergardens, i am planning to go there after finishing work….

        • @nkdangar:

I was there today and there were a few, some bloke bought one around 130pm, have no clue if theres anything left now though

        • @Awesome: nup. i have compared PLU codes on ticket sheets supplied above to ones on floor at Watergardens, similar models are there same size different barcode number.

  • Hey guys there's an macbook pro at marion 15inch i7 later 2013 model for $1,199. is it worth it? contemplating as its 2013 model and theyve come out with 2 models since..

    • +1

      Do you need it?

      • +1

i need a laptop for photography, but not sure if this is bang for buck.

        • They retail for $2000-$3000 depending if Retina and 512GB SDD drive. So it's a good deal, since you told everyone where it is, you may want to hurry. Also if it's been on display for 2 years switch on the battery and screen will have reduced life/brightness.

        • +1

@malouphix: Thanks mate, its in my hands at the moment so I don't think anyone will grab it :)

        • +1

@Alfonso: Haha, look out behind you. Back against the wall.

        • Quite worth while IMO anyway.

        • @malouphix: It is only the 256gb 8gb ram version 2.0ghz i7. - it does have retina.

        • @Alfonso: Get it, it worth about $2500 new.

    • 4th gen processor or 5th gen?

  • +1

Any good ones left from Dick smith Sydney city, Chatswood, or Macquarie?

  • Tempted to go back to Emporium later only 5 min hike

  • Went to Chatswood NSW at lunch time. More customers than usual but no significant bargains of any note. Disappointing

    • You have to ask ….. don't just look at the stuff.

      • I did ask. I was after a TV and the best they could do was point to a manager's special of $50 off a 32 inch JVC TV

        • You have to ask them to check the system for what you are after that is what I did.

I see a lot of staff they just don't care but still a lot very care and check every bit for me.

  • +1

I got a Sony Action Cam HDR-AS15 in a value pack with extra battery + charger and mounts for $39 from the Prahran Store (took the last one). They had no cheap TVs left but had a quite a few mid/low end digital cameras at about half price.

  • There's a canon 1200D left at camberwell store and a few other basic cameras.

  • Any good deals on laptops?

  • Not sure already posted or not.

I saw Dick Smith 54.5" TV for $209.

Remember 10% off dick smith gift card at Coles.

  • Braodmeddows all gone. No cheap consoles, ipads or cameras

  • anybody know the price of Sony xperia Z3?

  • +1

Quality post: thanks for the updates, TA. I kept hassling DSE staff to scan random items, then people took matters to their own hands with the scanners.

I also saw the iPads but meh.

  • Not much I can see at Bondi Junction, a few cheap cameras ($29), gaming headsets and usual car charger packs.

A whole bunch of clearance pages sitting behind the counter with no staff seeming interested in putting them out.

Asked for any cheap tablets and was told after a 'look in the back' that there were none available.

  • Currently at work. Anything at Garden City WA? Thanks to the person who replied yesterday!

    • brother went about an hour ago, some ex display models, no ipads
Freo had 1 40" JVC when I called at 930

    • not much, asked the employee if they had any apple demo products and he said no, explained that not all stores have this clearance thing going on, depends on the stock they have and said they pretty much had just recently stocked up on stuff. There is a Samsung note edge vodafone locked for $509 (didn't bother getting it). Riverton had a few samsung phones (note3, s4 and s5) on clearance and Livingston has plenty of games but pretty much nothing

  • Seems cameras have "all ran out" both in George Street and Myer DSE.
    Any updates on Ashfield branch?

    • 45 minutes ago they had numerous cameras at the shop under Myer on the way to the food court, including DSLRs in a glass case at the end of an aisle.

I picked up a Sony Alpha 3500 for $149 and called it good.

      • was about to pick that up, but read the reviews and I reckon the Nikon D3200 was of better value.

  • Okay so they had a LG 40" Smart TV for $649 on clearance. Not that amazing.

    • My friend picked up a 40" LG 4k TV for $240…

    • mate.. i just lost a 55" UHD lg tv for $599 by a whisker.

  • +1

At Dick Smith Erina - Picked up a JVC 50' FHD for $209.70 and a JVC 42' FHD for $134.70. They had 9 Dick Smith-branded 54.5in FHDs going for $203 about 30 mins ago.

  • Can anyone tell me what are these tools for sale?

    Tools From $5

    • +1

      Nickelback CDs.

  • 2x Nikon V1 black with 10-30mm available at Toombul $99. White were $49 but all gone. Also, Samsung S4 (not mini)(display pink only) is around $130 when scanned if you can find one.

  • +2

No much left at Brisbane CBD DJ's. I saw people at the desk with 3 ipads in hand, waiting for confirmation. None of the listed TVs. This store doesn't do games/consoles either.
The staff there didn't have comms all morning and are doing most by hand, and there's a lot of customers milling around. Please be nice.

    • I am here, there is no products ? I can't see anything in discount..

      • Did you ask?

        • No, there are too many people around, all the staff is busy. But a guy with macbook and a guy with 3 ipads.

      • I was there a good three hours ago, and was suggested to that I was about an hour late :)
Some guy had been standing there for two hours while they got stuff up to speed.
Also, the redhead there is really cute.

        • Might pop in after work to sus said redhead. Any PS4 games? I thought this store closed which is why i didn't go yesterday as it's not advertised on their website

        • +1

Yeah that was me. I got there when they opened and they struggled managing everyone. They were really nice though and worked as fast as they could. I ended up leaving the store empty handed because they had basically no TV's discounted and the 32gb iPhone 5c that I had in my hand was $299 instead of $99 like I thought. The $99 is only for the 16gb ex demo models.

        • +2

@legham: The DSE in Brisbane CBD closed, but the David Jones still has some DSE products. They don't sell games though unfortunately.

        • @meriyas: Yeah, that was pretty unfortunate. The crowd of people with three iPads and such was a bit disappointing too.

  • +1

Miranda Westfield Samsung 55in $300, Canon zoom kit, d3200 still available at noon today

  • +4

Was told by an eager staff member that they aren't allowed to buy anything until 5pm, and that they've got a trolley full of their own purchases ready to be scanned sitting at the back

    • +12

That's the kicker, they can't buy till 5, but they can certainly hold onto the stuff till then.

  • +8

Don't bother with Rockingham (WA) store. Staff avoid serving you, then are rude and will not look up prices or check for stock.

  • +1

Checked at Macquarie Shopping Centre in NSW, nothing wowed me. Stuff on sale are either useless crap, display unit or 'managers specials', everything else was as marked (ie catalogue/full retail price). so 10% off full retail is not much. Some bargain bins crap worth digging around tho like cables if you happens to need them.
