JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth Speaker - Harvey Norman $98

160

Tried a few bluetooth speakers today in HN and I thought this one was the best for a sub $200 speaker. Was going to buy it for $177 when the chap next to me looked on his smart phone and told me it was $98. Daughters present sorted. Noticed that the Flip 2 is being sold in DS for $51.60 as mentioned here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223765. Flip 3 is the newer model.

  • I got mine for $84.99 a couple of weeks ago, I need to give it back cause I got a crackling issue, might have had something to do with the fact that I used it in the shower, but I can vouch for these speakers, theyre amazing!

    • Similar for HP too.
I bought the Sennheiser HD439 Wired Headphones for $48 in HN from this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223695
Tickect price is $88, sticker say $119 ish, but scanned $48, wired if they want to sell more at the price.
I'm listening to it now, quite good.

  • I forked out the extra and got the UE Boom 2 for $168

UE is IPX7 - Waterproof where JBL is IPX4 - Water resistant

Yes, but the difference in sound quality is immense, the Flip 3 is usually a $174-$199 ticketed item, but gets a good drop on sales. Look at any neutral non biased review and you'll see.

I don't know about you, but I buy my speakers based on Sound quality as first priority then other features. I was torn between the UE Boom 2 and the JBL FLip 3 and I ended up with the Flip 3, different people have different opinions. At the end of the day for me the Flip 3 was the better choice.

Good price for a UE Boom 2, I think HN were selling them for $188 today. I did a comparison in store and I thought that the Flip 3 sounded richer and the bass was far better. That said the UE has a longer battery life so it depends what you want.

      • The bass bottoms out on the Flip 3 when you turn it up real high or real low. The mid range is where it sounds good. I can adjust the bass on the Boom 2 via the app and it sounds great! That with the extra battery life, IPX7 and the Boom 2 is the winner for me. Worth the extra $

      • 50%-75% volume and I get way more than the quoted 10 hrs lol, that being said Only once have I listened till the battery died (to test) otherwise It's almost always on full charge.

For sound Quality Flip 3 is the way to go, for General features and the app itself then the Boom would be my pick. The bass doesn't bottom out on low volumes , but it does when on full blast.

  • I bought an original Flip from Dickies for $19. Little sisters present sorted. Great price on the flip 3 though.

  • thanks OP. ordered 2 and thanks to $25 voucher deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194595)
came to abt $85.50 per speaker.

  • Thanks mate! Just grabbed two as well with the $25 voucher as well.
Been in the market for a while, originally was going for a UE Boom 2, but can't pass up two of these for the same price.
Early xmas present for me =)
