    • Now showing out of stock on their eBay site. Still available in store and on their own site.

      • Yesterday my local store got 4 boxes of them

  • +1

expiry date on these? I just updated 1 year for $8. Great anti virus

  • -2

Cheaper here http://www.saveonit.com.au/searches. But it's for 1 year. Bought one about a week back but it was for $8. I think it was for this one but can't remember. No issues, quick delivery via email. Hope this helps.

    • +4

I think your link is for only 1 device where the good guys one is for 3.

$19 for the same version http://www.saveonit.com.au/products/productdetails/65123728

      • +1

Nah I got that deal as well, 3 pc's for 12 months for $8 so I bought two of them, same result minus $1. :)

      • Great link, willy000 - three PCs for two years for $19 - VERY happy with that one. Thanks!

    • This one is 2 years mate, but the one you're saying is 1 year only.

  • How does Kaspersky rate to Norton Internet Security/360? I've been using Norton for the past few years and have been very happy.

    • +3

Absolutely blows it out of the water. For MANY, many years Nortons has been utter rubbish. Consistently rates poorly in all aspects of AV testing, whereas Kaspersky consistently scores high. They are polar opposites, with Kaspersky the clear winner.

      • +1

        Source?

        • +4

          http://www.av-comparatives.org

Norton is also widely regarded as being resource intensive for what it is. A bit hard to provide a source for that, but anecdotally I've found it to be true.

      • +2

Which versions of Norton are you referring to? Had no issues with 2014 and onwards. Av-test.org rate Norton pretty well.

        • The ones in his head.

    • +2

Norton = the first two characters say it all, "NO". Kaspersky for sure ;)

    • +1

Norton is generally regarded on the lower end of the antiviruses (because of its clunkiness, not really because of a lack of detection). Kaspersky is absolutely one of the best and will detect and block better than Norton. It is also more lightweight.

      • Sold. Bought one via Cashrewards. Thanks OP

      • +2

Norton is bad in all regards. Low detection rates, high number of false positives, DISGUSTINGLY high resource usage and an even more disgusting amount of bugs that often render systems unusable.

There is a reason why Norton comes pre-installed on so many branded PC's - because it is so bad, there is no other way they can sell the product.

        • +1

What's your source for your claims. https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/

Your statement would be correct for the really old versions of Norton. They have changed. Windows vista was a pile of shit doesn't mean all windows versions are crap. Same withn Norton. Very light on resources with high detection rates .

        • Norton is horrible

        • +4

          @R3XNebular:
Symantec Norton is conspicuously missing from www.av-comparatives.org, so I did a little digging.

G DATA and Symantec Norton are the only products on the most requested list that we did not test in the public main tests last year and are not testing in the public main tests this year. Neither manufacturer wanted to participate in all the compulsory tests of the main test series (7).
          (7) Symantec did not wish to take part in the File Detection Test, while G Data declined to participate in the Real World Protection Test.

        • +1

@R3XNebular: Norton started off good, then got really slow and I left. It's possible they went back to being good again, but they've permanently lost me as a customer now, because I'm not willing to risk it again.

They gave me a free 12 month key when I complained to a CSR in chat, I used it for one month then uninstalled it and went to ESET. That was good for a year before it started getting slow too, so I moved to BD. So far I'm happy with it.

        • +1

          @Max Power:

This. Very conspicuous. Symantec are well-known for cherry-picking what companies "test" their software, and the conditions under which they test them.

I don't trust the av-test website. They place too much emphasis on arbitrary 'scores' and some of the sample sizes are stupidly low. They also aren't very clear about their testing conditions.

          http://securitywatch.pcmag.com/security-software/310393-syma…

I stopped using Norton after getting free keys to use with Eset. Bit defender and mcafee. Found bit defender a resource hog. Would slow down my start up. Didn't have issues with mcafee Eset or Norton. Experiences may vary.

        • @R3XNebular:
Thanks for the link. It was a good read.

    • Which one you prefer, KGB or NSA?

  • Thanks OP, ordered one on their eBay store and used Cashrewards too.

  • +1

Thanks OP, good bargain. Looks like this is actually a boxed version too, not just the key.

Hmmmm…to Broden or not to Broden..

Tempting, but I think I might just grab a couple and leave the rest for others :)

edit: scratch that, postage kills the deal on eBay. $48.10 postage for 5 copies :3

  • $5 postage Sydney online

  • -8

Antivirus software should be considered malware in my opinion.

  • heaps of stock guys! ..

    • Not in Adelaide. Ebay with Click & Collect lists only 1 store with stock left.

  • have heaps in Robina QLD, got a Sennheiser HD 202-II for just $48 :)

  • +2

Do these things have an expiry date? Just renewed Kaspersky for 2 years :/

    • +3

      apparently NOT….

    • +2

I have used Kaspersky for while. It can be updated to latest version, e.g. 2016, 17, before the key expires. And you can purchase a new key to continue using the products after the exist key expires.

    • +1

I'm not sure with this version. The 2012 version did expire, so be careful.

  • How does this compare to ESET?
I have been using ESET for quite a few years, and consider it my favourite Antivirus, however lets face it, there's never any deals for ESET.

    • There's been deals on ozbargain for eset. A few months back they were giving free licences away for one of the paid versions.

How it compares to Kaspersky ? They're all pretty similar - just personal preference.

  • Thank you bonky. This is great timing for me as my anti virus software is about to expire. Didn't think I'd be buying anything today as I was determined not to impulse buy and couldn't think of anything I needed. Just shows my obsessive checking of OzBargain continues to bring results.

  • People have reported 2015 keys not being able to activate 2016 product. Anyone tried it?

    • Yes, MANY times. Never had a problem. Could be a bug.

    • I got the KIS deal last week with 2015 keys and has activated 2016 on 2 PC's no problems.

      • Thanks.

  • i ordered the total security from save on IT yesterday…is this prod different from it?
Also, does anyone know how to cancel the saveonit order so that i can buy this one?

    • Yes, the Total security is the higher tier product. The Total security works on all devices (Smartphones, Android, Mac os, Windows etc.)

Internet security will only work on Windows.

      • Total security is their premium product and is the replacement for PURE. However you're incorrect saying this one only works on Windows. It also works on Mac and Andtoid. It even has it displayed in the image link on the box.

        • Oh really? Did not know that, which is kind of silly considering I've sold dozens of these keys haha. Thanks for pointing that out :)

IIRC the main difference between the 2 version is ancillary functions that most users will not make full use of.

  • do we have an option to cancel saveonit order?

  • Is this better than Bitdefender? Very good price and feel tempted.

    • +1

Had some false positives on some key software I use that BD did not have a problem with. I'm sure you can create an exception for it though, but I didn't try.

It seems quite light weight, which is a high priority for me, but so is BD.

I'd say you can't go wrong. Since free BD keys are a lot more complicated to redeem now, you should probably go for it.

      • Thanks for that. Appreciated the reply.

      • Just bought using cashrewards to get a saving of……60cents…. :-)

I think the price is really good. Thanks Op for this.

        • +2

60c is 60c in your pocket!

  • Regarding the install..do I install the 2015 version, then update to the 2016 version or can I download the 2016 version from the website and put in the 2015 key from the get go?

    • +3

I just downloaded the current version… then used the supplied key

you will find the KEY is usable for any version…

  • Thanks OP. Just grabbed this from Oxley QLD store, plenty of copies there.
Just download and install the 2016 version , and use your activation code.

  • Having never used Kaspersky before, I assume it has the anti-virus component, but does it have a firewall, and anti-spam protection for emails?

I hope it's better than McAfee!

    • Of course it has the anti-virus component, that's the whole point of the product!!

I'm probably wrong, and hopefully someone else will correct me if I am, but I do believe Internet security has the anti-spam for emails - not that it's really relevant. Pretty much all AV's are terrible at blocking all but the most obvious spam. It's also very dependent on the client ( the program you use to access the email ). Many AV's pretty have trouble with certain clients and flat out don't work with browser-based email accounts. Much more important, and effective, is the anti-spam protection offered by the email provider. Hotmail are pretty much the worst, Gmail is average, and specialist/corporate email providers are the best.

There is also client-based spam filtering, which is generally the most effective (when paired with a good email provider) but it usually takes A LOT of configuration to get working properly.

Pretty sure Internet security does include a basic firewall, but it is typically not all that relevant these days. Even the most basic of routers will include firewalls of similar performance. Operating systems also include firewalls of sorts.

      • Thanks for the reply… after much Googling it does indeed have everything I need (I think).

It definitely has the firewall and email protection… http://support.kaspersky.com/11154#block1

        Doesn't seem very Windows 10 friendly though… http://support.kaspersky.com/11736

        • No worries. It should suit you well :)

I wouldn't put too much weight into the Win 10 'differences'. Microsoft completely revamped the security aspects in Win 10, so it will take some time before AV's adjust for the differences.

  • so this is a new way of saying 5 for the price of 1?

    • No. 3x users, 2x 12 months subscriptions.

So by your logic, it's more like 6 ;)

  • +1

mine expires in 2 weeks time, bought this to cover another 2 years….thanks mate

  • So as per others have asked, do these keys have an expiry? Can you buy a few and use them in year's time from now?

    • I did answer it earlier…. no expiry ..

      • Thank for confirming

        • no dramas!

  • Just bought one, postage is cheaper on their website, $5 postage to Sunshine Coast with 5 day delivery.

  • !@!@!@!@!@ IMPORTANT NOTICE !@@!@!@!!@!

Your valid 2015 KIS/KAV/KTS license should work just fine for 2016 for the remainder of your license period, as the license policy is -1 & + 3 versions. IOW: 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018

Just downloaded the latest version and CD key works perfectly fine yay

    2015 CD KEY WILL WORK FOR 2016 + 2017 Versions ~

    Hope this helps

  • Heaps of Stock Sydney Alexandria NSW

  • Great price. I bought from the previous Saveonit $8 deal, so I'm hoping I can use this December next year.

  • Need to buy 1 pack. However, I'm not in AUS at the moment so can't wait long time to get license keys delivered. TGG online staff refused to deliver license keys via email. If anyone is going to buy this product in-store, can you please buy 1 for me? Then send me license keys via my email. I'll pay you in advance via Paypal.

    Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I couldn't post in Forum due to foreign IP block. Sorry!

    • +1

They email you the key as it's inside the box. If you want it to be emailed to you, it will cost you $19. http://www.saveonit.com.au/products/productdetails/65123728

      • Thanks. I'm aware of that deal too. However, I need 2 keys for Windows and 1 for Android (Multi-device, not 3 PCs). That combo would cost $22 on Saveonit (not to mentioned that it is only 1-year license). So, this OZB deal is just perfect for me (except $5 delivery).

  • I just got mine from Good Guys Castle hill then (plenty of stock) but when I try to register the code in the box, on the Kaspersky website - it says invalid code. Am I the only one?

    • I thought you have to install Kaspersky then enter activation code?

      • I can't without an activation code. The box came with a "registration code" and it asked me to goto "buykaspersky.com/redeem" and enter the registration code to get the activation codes. What a pain.

        • Has your problem been resolved? If not, contact TGG and/or Kaspersky staff for more info. Good luck then!

        • Worked fine for me using latest version of Firefox on Win 10 Pro.

Did you go to http://buykaspersky.com.au/redeem ???

If you left off the .AU it will say invalid code, because the codes are only redeemable in AU & NZ.

I got the activation code in my email in seconds. I probably won't use it til McAfee expires in 80 days. Might as well keep on using it since I paid for it.

When you get the activation email, it actually says if you don't have the 2016 version or current trial version installed, you'll need to uninstall your existing version and download the latest version before activating it (that's when the license period commences apparently).

        • @Graffin: Yep definitely went to com.au in both chrome and IE. I think I have a dodgy registration code, just hoping it is quickly resolved with the kaspersky case I logged.

        • @Pab23q:

That sucks. The 10 digit code should have worked. Hopefully Kaspersky Support will fix it for you!

  • Nope. I will have to call tomorrow :(

    • u enter the code u find in the box into the registration page written on the set by step Manuel and email is sent to you with activation key which u put in software to activate…

      2 codes… a little tricky

      • Hey Buddy - Thanks for the info. I called Kaspersky just then and the lady said when the boxes leave the warehouse they dont scan properly. She fixed it up in 5 seconds so I'm all good!

  • What a great deal. Plenty of stock at Geelong (Ross Parke) but there is no price displayed. Still scans at $15 though. Thanks OP as I may have missed this otherwise.

  • is anyone else also having trouble installing on MAC, as I'm getting an error that this version of OSX is not supported. I'm on OS X El Captain Version 10.11.2

    • Yep I am. I just gave up

      • +1

hey mate, I contacted the technical support team and sent me an email with link to download new version of software for MAC with the latest patch. I followed the instructions and it worked. here is the email and link I received, if you want to give it a go. Thanks

        • Thank you very much it works :) Will do the 30 days trial before putting my key in

        • @useful:

I have now removed the software from my MAC. I hate how it takes over SSL even when you turn it off.

        • @useful: I actually like it.

  • I think this has expired??
I was interested, but it seems to be back to full price again..

    • it looks like it has expired on their website, i managed to pick up a copy today in store though!

  • Has anyone started using Kaspersky yet?

I've looked at my Network monitor and my upload speed is always ~25 KB/s. Is that normal?

    Traffic for 24 hours:
    Download: 482 MB
    Upload: 494 MB

    • Don't trust what it says. On my torrent machine, today if uploaded 21GB and it shows 1GB

    • Not Kaspersky related. You need to troubleshoot further

      • Do you recommend any programs to monitor network usage filtered by application?
