This is like the HP - 768 is rubbish res in 2015.

    • Indeed, but I had worst experience with HP in past (They once posted a BIOS update for HP Omni 10 Tablet which bricked my tablet including thousands of other people's Tablets as well who updated the BIOS).

P.S. I will probably hook this up with my TV or Monitor with FULL HD Resolution for better results cuz I dont usually take laptops out from home much already got Windows Tablet.

    • I swear if we could just filter it so we only get 1080p, ips and touch, there would be nothing to choose from :'( .

      • Let the geeks have their rant. Here's mine, a lot of people use laptops for business / work and couldn't really give a stuff about 720p V 1080p, as it makes no difference.

OzBargain Geeks - If you want a great AV experience for your HD porno, get a PC and big monitor. It's a laptop!

    • Yeah, especially when our phones nowadays are 2560x1440 at 5.1 inches, and even cost less

  • A question from a novice - when looking at optical drives on a laptop is it that important or cheaper/better to get an external player ?

    • +2

Some laptops come with them nowadays, but they are starting to be phased out. For the most part you will rarely ever use an optical drive so removing the internal drive which allows for a lighter, more compact machine is a trade-off most people are willing to take. A cheap $20-30 external optical drive will suffice for those occasions that you will find yourself having to use a disc.

Also imo, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HP-ENVY-15-15-6-FHD-Intel-i7-8GB-… is a much better deal and you can get a 256gb SSD version for about $100 more.

      • The link you just posted has 5th Gen i7 Processor and has lower Graphic chip. Not much of a bargain IMO. I strictly do not recommend HP due to their Drivers problem, already faced problems in multiple products from HP, maybe it was my bad luck or maybe HP is not good at all.

It's not a lower graphics chip. It's the previous generation yes, but it performs better. Also the performance difference between the 6500U and 5500U is extremely minimal, and the 1080p screen is definitely worth that small downgrade.

      • tks for the advice

        • You should remove the optical drive as it gives you an extra slot to install an SSD to the laptop, then just buy a usb powered enclosure for the optical drive.

    • What do you mean by external player? please explain I might be able to clear any confusions if you have.

      • External dvd/blueray/cd drive via USB

no one can answer this but you

how often do you use a CDROM? Ten years ago I bought a Dell Latitude. In the 2 yrs I had it, I used the CDrom twice, once to install an o/s and once to rip a CD a colleague left at work.

Vast majority of people do not need an optical drive.

      And lol this laptop.

      2015 CPU

2010 or worse GPU, screen res, body weight… what a pile of shit

GT920 LOL… is this GPU just along to waste your battery power? You may as well stick with the Intel HD whatever it is

      • Eh, that's kind of what you expect nowadays for the >$1k mark. It's weird how pricing scales to the components in laptops. The best laptop deal in Aus that I've seen is the w230ss from fraglabs for $1.3k which beats the living crap out of anything until you hit about $1600+.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227983

Just this morning. Craps all over this 'deal'

        • @Spackbace: That deal was pretty good but unfortunately not much stock beside I heard that Dell had serious screen bleeding issues I don't know if its true but I hesitated getting that laptop.

        • +1

          @YousufEDGE:

          I hesitated and missed out.

All subsequent "bargains" are nowhere near as good as the Dell, not….even….close…

    • It is also possible to stick your CD I another machine and access it via a network connection.

No point having an i7 and separate gpu on a non-fullhd screen. Pointless.

  • I don't think I could ever go back to a HDD or an awful display. Good other specs, though.

  • -2

The display (1366x768) is awful, so is the storage.

    • Agree, nowhere close to a good deal. Perhaps just a poor alternative for someone desperate for a laptop since all the good deals on eBay have sold out.

Please do let me know if you find full HD i7 6th gen Skylake laptop under 1000$ with integrated 2GB graphics and with at least 8gb DDR4 Ram. Feel free to post the deal brother will gladly appreciate before voting down =)

      • well mate, what will you do with a 2GB graphics and i7 6th gen Skylake when the display is 1366x768?
One could very well go with an i5 and a better display! Don't post such stuff as deals!

        • nobody asked you to buy it since you didn't like it mate. Peace! I am not getting any money from this or any benefit from this post at all so don't go harsh on me bro I am not the seller. I have used many laptops with different brands found ASUS much reliable than Dell. I just posted it for people who missed the Dell Deal.

  • This one is decent value, new i5, full HD, 256GB SSD (might be on small size storage for some). I picked one up for 1k ($1019 to be exact) with 15% off eBay deal which still works for me. Also don't forget 4% cash back!
