      • As a followup if you call MYER they will just tell you the case has sold out and you are not eligible for the free case even though they list the promotion as lasting until the 26th of jan. The support staff tell you that the case showing as instock on the website is a technical glitch and that the tech team is working on removing the promotion text from the page. They must've had a very few number of these case….

  • thanks OP. Nearly bought one yesterday at $249 with ( probably) free case. It was way lot cheaper than JB Hifi at $299 ( on Sale !! - What a joke JB- Hifi !). Also, ended up buying this one for the name although the sound may not be as good as JBL xtreme selling at $349.

  • How do you choose the colour of the cover? If I add the one I want to my cart it doesn't discount to $0. But if I just put the soundlink mini in there's no option to choose the case colour?

    • Planning to pickup and ask nicely :) with big smile in the local store to honour the case deal . I won't cancel order and risk missing the deal just for the case or bug in a system . I will also make sure I take snap photo of the deal for proof .

  • There's a bug somewhere. Not sure if they will include the case.

    Add just one of the pearl coloured ones to the cart and you will get the option to select which case you want for free.

    Whereas for the Carbon you will have to add TWO carbons before you get that option.

  • I called Customer Support. They said bug in the system, and that i could refund and buy again when bug is fixed. I opted to keep my order minus the case.

    I think they will remove the free case offer.

          I ended up calling again this afternoon, spoke to someone different. Straight away they offered to ship the case separately.

        • @yapa: Must have been the same lady I spoke to. I received an order confirmation immediately for the case.

        • @yapa: I called around 3:30pm and was told by Trent that the case has sold out and is not available and that there is a technical glitch on the website causing this offer to show up. You should not be seeing the offer for a free case and that you are ineligible to receive one. That woman who sent you the case is going to get in so much trouble I think if it's true she has honoured this non-deal for other people too.

    Called up customer service, got the answer that "it is double dipping" with the discount offered,so they are not giving the case away with my order! I wonder if i should fight more when pick up in store?

    i called up "NOT Customer Service", but the "Online ordering Number 13-69-37", and spoke / asked nicely if they could honour the deal since it was advertised and they admitted there was a glitch in the online ordering system and the online team will help to order the case for you and they would also removed the charges from the case ( $0) and its up to you if you want it pickup or sent separately to your address . Note: do not allow them to cancel your current BOse Order.. just add a new order for the case only… AS A separate new order to honour the advertise deal. the Online manager might have to get involved to override the charges to $0 dollar.

    Also, if you haven been waiting for more than 5 minute in a phone que, hang up and call again, it will be faster .

    Worst come to worst , mention your statutory right as a customer to receive the deal as it was advertised online ( so, snap a picture of the advertise bonus case to show or to mention in case).

    SO, make sure that you guys speak nicely to the right department (the Online) to get the nice results.

    • That's the number I called and they told me it was a glitch that the promotion is showing on the website and will not be honoured as the case is out of stock. I guess the terms of the promotion state while stocks last so there goes your rights (promotion was still advertised on the website when I ordered but was told that is a 'technical glitch' and was being looked into by their technical team). I also mentioned to him that if you add two of the speaker to the cart then you get the ability to select the free case on the second one and all the colors still say 'in stock' but he said that is a glitch too and there is no stock. Not sure if he was telling the truth or if they are just backing out of the promotion due to the costs of sending out two packages.

      Makes me wonder if this whole thing was even a promotion to begin with or just a 'technical glitch'

      So they have re-added it to the site but when I add to cart it doesn't let me select the free gift still.

      We might have to take this to fair trading or something, simply unacceptable that MYER would 'run out of stock' and have a 'technical glitch' on an offer that is supposed to last until the end of the month!? I think they are purposely having this technical glitch and not letting people redeem the offer over phone because they don't want to honour it for people stacking with their web store sale:

    Staff at myer Garden city QLD told me that I can only either pay $249 with a case or $204 without case because the deal cannot combine each other or any other offers.

  • Anyone who has experience with multiple portable Bluetooth speakers care to share their opinion on this one?
    If this is better than the SRS-X3 (which I already own), I'd be interested.
    I've got the X3 and the Megaboom. Only thing I feel the Megaboom has over the X3 is volume. Megaboom can get very loud (for its size) without sounding like crap.
    I pick the X3 for lower volumes as I feel it sounds better (I listen to mostly EDM and some rap). X3 Definitely gives a better sense of bass.

    Any informed opinions would be appreciated. Not interested in 'it's better cause Bose'.

    • I have owned both soundlink mini (version 1) and Sony SRS-X3. There are two problems for soundink mini in my opinion. Distortion in high volume and too much emphasis in bass. According to online reviews, soundlink mini version 1 and version 2 are basically the same. I like SRX-X3 more for its more natural sound. If you like bass, you may prefer the soundlink mini, but I suggest you to go to the bose store to listen it yourself. I just could not bear the strong bass from soundlnk mini and eventually give it to my friend as a gift.

    • I'm not a fan of heaps of bass as it distorts the music you are listening to, I use neutral soundstage headphones that have very weak bass (Audio Technica AD700's, they're awesome!). I heard a customers Soundlink Mini briefly and it has good amping, I was surprised how loud it was although this was over a year ago so can't really compare it to anything. I grabbed one on this deal as a portable speaker for events at the park, at a friends pool, BBQ, etc as it is much more convenient to carry than a stereo and you aren't tethered to a power plug.

      If you say you already own a high end portable speaker I can't really recommend buying another, they have their uses but it's not something to get caught up on. Nobody expects the best audio from something of this size / form factor. You'd be better to spend the money towards your audio gear at home. I got this one as the portable speaker I have is great but I hope this one is louder / better quality since mine only cost $50, it's a hamburger style design and has surprisingly decent bass response due to the vibrations going through a sort of rubber coil thing and out of the base into whatever surface you have it resting on. Hopefully maxdba is wrong about the sound being too bass heavy though as that would wreck a lot of songs.

      Just ordered one now from my phone and on the product page it mentions the free case (on the computer it just vaguely says includes free gift)

      When you add to cart you can't select a free gift. If you add 2 of them to cart then you can select the free case and all colours of the case shoe as "instock". Once you remove the speaker that doesn't have the free case from cart then the free case is also removed.

      Put through my order anyway since you said you got it by calling.

      Called Myers and waited on hold for 12 minutes then the guy told me they are out of stock on the free case and I can't get one. He says it's a "technical glitch" that the offer still shows on the mobile site and that it's also a "technical glitch" that all colours of the case show as in stock when you add 2 to cart.

      Myer offers no recourse due to technical glitches.

      Still a good price on the speaker though.

  • Ordered 1 carbon speaker last night and called 13 69 37 just now and they said they were having technical issues and would send the case separately.

    She said stock was limited but I asked for a red one and she said that was fine. Just received the confirmation email for the case.

      I called an hour before you and was told that they have no stock of the case left (even though if you add 2 to cart it will show all colors as instock, whatever MYER) and the offer displaying on the website at all for the free case is a technical glitch. I presume the promotion is not supposed to start until after the other one ends so they are just displaying it and not honouring it.

      Not sure where that leaves you and MYER in terms of recourse for this supposed 'deal' and the inappropriate actions of this customer service agent in incorrectly agreeing to send you the case.

  • Same here, got a green case around 2:40pm. Looks like they had all the Color for me to choose.

  • From the way the lady I spoke to was acting i think they are genuinely low on stock of the cases. When I rang up I played dumb and said I ordered yesterday but just realised I didn't get the option to choose a case even though I was sure there was free case offer on.

    I then shut up and let her do the talking. She said that the site didn't give it to me because they were very low on stock for the cases but would try to find a store with one in stock for me.

    Put me on hold and when she came back she said she could see a navy colour one at Sydney city store. She said she'd put through the order but didn't know if it would go through as the stock was so low.

    I said great that was the colour I wanted anyway thanks! I didn't push my luck by trying to choose a colour because I believed her that stock was very limited. A few hours later I got an email saying the case order was being processed. Still waiting for the order shipped email but fingers crossed.

    Hi folks,

    I spoke to Myer customer service just now. I was informed that all cases are out of stock and that any orders that have gone through over the weekend will be cancelled, even if you can successfully add one to your order on the website. She also informed me that they won't honour the case promotion even after the cases come back in stock.

    So, maybe the OP should modify this listing to say that you can now only purchase the system for $204. That promotion ends tonight. The $249 promotion continues until about the 26th or so of january.

    Now I have to decide whether or not I still want this item at $204 without the case!

    Helpful operator looked and found a green one - it has been dispatched to me and I can see the order in my online orders.

    Collected my Soundlink Mini from Myer in Liverpool NSW. There was no case with the unit but when I asked they called Customer Service who apparently told them to give me one. So picked one up from the shop floor and they gave it at 100% discount. Happy!
