I got this email, and thought it was interesting where it says the offer is available by invitation only.
Just watch out if you didn't get this email and try to take up the offer, as you may still have to pay the fees.

  • dammit i just listed two things about 5 minutes ago

  • Thanks ebay, type a whole listing then it gives me a HTTP Error :@

now i have to do it all again lol.

    • i think u got lucky, cause you'd have paid 30 cents if u put it up now
promo dun start till tomorrow like tsimop has said so below

Just to confirm, you have to receive an email in order to be able to take advantage of this deal, right?

    • you'll know in about 6 hours but normally its for everybody and not just the people who receive the email.

      • on the email that i received. it said
"This promotion is by invitation only. Make sure you list under your User ID, which is at the top of this email, to be eligible for this offer."

so this is not for everybody.

    • yes, please read the term and condition, it is only for selected customer only

  • I missed out on the free insertions by invitation email last time and I haven't received an email this time??? The last invitation I got was about a year ago! Positive vote for you but not ebay. Free offer should be free for all, we all find out anyway and it just annoys the people who didn't get the offer. And last time I listed an item during the promotion and I didn't get free listing.

    • u sure didnt enter a reserve price more than 99 cents cause last time I used the promotion it was free

    • I never get invitation emails either, and I agree it sucks and makes me hate ebay.

  • +2

Not much of a deal if it's invitation only. Should only post it if all can access it not a minority.

    • +2

thats what i think, what is the point you posted in here. coz only invited people can take this offer. and those people will get the email already. for people who don't get the invitation won't be able to take this offer.

  • I got the invite :)

  • +1

I think the OP needs to emphasise either in the title or the top of this post that this deal is BY INVITATION ONLY and only applies to those who got an ebay email.

    • +1

I don't think it's beneficial to list things like this anyway as, if you're eligible you're already notified by e-mail, and if you weren't then you're not eligible.

  • not much saving, specially it has more categories restriction this time!!

well, better than none I guess?

the Buy-It-Now free listing during the Christmas period is the best!

  • I guess we all received an email from ebay about this promo anyways

  • Isn't Ebay discriminating against those that didn't receive the email? It appears to have gone to those that usually buy rather than sell.

    • +1

Probably, but it's not "discriminating" so much as "making a faux deal that doesn't cost them much $$". It's business.

I don't get emails about these things ever, and I'd say it's because I sell quite regularly.

  • +5

I'm giving this a negative as it is not really news, anyone who qualified for this discount would already have received the invitation email from eBay and anybody who didn't already receive the internal e-mail notification from ebay doesn't qualify for the discount anyway.

    • +1

      indeed

    • Agree ozbenny

        No deal for me.

    • Well said. I receive these offers but don't find them a bargain in the least. It's generally the final value fee and PayPal fee that sting sellers more. eBay should keep the listing fees, discount/zero the FVF and/or Paypal fee if they want to be seen as helping out sellers.

  • +2

Lol.. no where we've seen this 99c offer so often as now .. :) where's this offer 2-3 years ago when eBay is at its peak.. now that most people abandon eBay .. hmmm..

    • actually this was seen last year

  • No deal

  • +1

tried selling, and realised i dont qualify.

  • When there was the free insertions for Buy It Now items last time, I never received an email, but it still worked for me.

If you get HTTP errors when trying to list (especially in firefox) go to Tools -> Options, Privacy tab and click "remove individual cookies". Search for ebay and delete them all.

  • I didnt get the email, how do you get the invite?

    • +1

eBay invites you. If you're a current eBay member and didn't receive the offer via email, you most likely weren't invited.

      • ic, thnx, guess like i'm not invited ><
