I actually got 2 from that AusPost deal. I really need to stop buying memory cards before I lose my mind. lol

Things you can never have enough on ozbargain -
      1. Memory cards
      2. SSD
      3. RAM
      4. Eneloops

      • I think you have a good point there, bargainaus.

      • With Dick Smith going into administration soon, it'll be hard to get Eneloops moving forward :(

        1. Bargains
      • Maybe a new Ozbargain 'Classics' menu?

      • Headphones should make that list.

        • Headphone is not Solid State Electronics, they are mechanical still. Ozbargainers has a knack for Solid State Electronics devices.

      • @ bargainaus

Ya forgot Jerky/Biltong, shame on you,lol (I'm still enjoying what I got from B2Go).

I bought same thing from Shopping Express for 28 bucks on their ebay page today, shipped from AU

    • +1

      Link please.

      • ebay.com.au

        you're welcome

        • Yup, The one I found on Shpooing Express eBay store is 48mbps one. But the one from this dealis actually 80mbps. I would pay $1 more to get a faster card from the above deal.

Thank you for the link anyway. It was really helpful.

        • @OzSikhs: click the deal read the description " It transfers at fast speeds of up to 30 MB/s. "

see the eBay deal: Faster speed: Up to 48MB/s transfer speed

        • @Makoto: mate, description is not correct on Officeworks Website, as I personally bought one from Officeworks yesterday and it is 80MB/s not 30MB/s or 48MB/s

  • +1

You guys work night shift our something???

    • Yup. At the insomnia clinic here in SA. Well, if I speak for myself.

  • Just scored one. Thanks!

  • +2

Can anyone confirm the speeds of this card? Is it 30mb/s or 80mb/s (as some people said before). Cannot find anywhere anyway that shows 80mb/s. Thanks

    • I got mine from aus post which was 80mb/s, also when i went to price match at OW they were going to match on the 80 as well but the lady couldn't find it.

  • Speed wise are these noticibly better than those Samsung evos when used in a phone?

  • It's good to see them finally come to a sensible price. I imagine they are getting less sales due to Note 5 / Galaxy S6.
However the tech is about to change with U3 (UHS-II) - google image it, it has extra pins and it's faster, but still MicroSD. It's the future of the format, if it survives.
I imagine if the Galaxy S7, Note 6 and other high end flagship phones continue to support MicroSD, they'll move to this in the next 6 to 12 months

    • Yeah 150+mb/s, crazy speeds. Let's just hope mobiles will follow suit in terms of not bottle necking that speed.

    • It will survive, if only for GoPro's & the like. Also, now the top end cards are getting better write speeds, I wouldn't be surprised if higher end cameras also start moving to MicroSD as well.

      • High end Go Pro uses it? That's good, I think it'll keep it going as a standard.
I saw someone benchmarked a sustained 60MB/s write on the Lexar one (which is apparently the best U3 one)

I wonder if the latency is as good as Samsung UFS though, I would like to think the S7 won't feel 'laggy' using the MicroSD (assuming it has MicroSDXC U3)

  • They do have this Sandisk ultra 64GB in different speed, maybe u could ask them to search their drawer to look for that faster one for you.

I knew it because I bought an ultra 64Gb MicroSD from office work at Doncaster last week, 1st card I got was corrupted, brought back for exchange and I end up with a faster card. Salesman was stoked too coz card/bar code everything is the same but different speed is indicated on the packaging.

By the way, the price I bought for was a price match with MSY at $37. I paid 35.xx, does anyone know if I would be able to just bring the receipt back there and ask for the difference? Thx ozbargainer!

    • Buy new one at lower price.
Return it with the old receipt.

  • I think prices dropping a lot and seem to be the norm in prices nowadays. Especially if you just buy from trusted ebay retailers or amazon etc.

    Decisions decisions

  • I'm confused, why isn't the labelling of these things straight forward, they should be made to label both read and write speeds. I noticed that on the Sandisk website they don't mention the write speeds for the Ultras.

I got some from Australia Post that were 80MB/s and UHS-I on the packet but only had C10 on the card itself. Looking at these cards they actually have the U1 on the card itself.

Is there a difference? Are Sandisk using new packaging with old cards?

Class 2: 2MB/s minimum write speed
Class 4: 4MB/s minimum write speed
Class 6: 6MB/s minimum write speed
Class 10: 10MB/s minimum write speed
UHS Speed Class 1 (UHS-I): 10MB/s minimum write speed
UHS speed class 3 (UHS-I): 30MB/s minimum write speed

The UHS class is differentiated by a little U1 & U3 marking on the SD card itself. Ultimately any UHS class 3 is what you want for best performance as that gives you a sustained 30MB/s write speed. Perfect for 4k recording. UHS class 1 orClass 10 will offer at least 10MB/s..

Ive tried to find a UHS class 3 128GB micro SD… There VERY expensive compared to there 10MB minimun equivalents.

    • Dissapointed Broden is.

Thanks, picked up three for different people. Weird thing was two stated 80mb/s one stated 48mb/s. Walked back in and swapped it for a 80mb/s one. Same codes and everything.

  • +1

Which of you put all 3 on hold in Braddon today?
    I just want one :(

  • Gosh! This is great

  • Why does the OW description on product page state 30mb/ps, simple typo??

Are these really 48(or 80 if you get that packaging)

  • -2

for those who are lazy to go to officeworks, there is the same price, but with free delivery on ebay shoppin-express http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sandisk-64GB-Ultra-Micro-SD-SDXC-…

  • Office works in Adelaide St Brisbane still has stock, it's a 48mb/s card but if you take it to the counter they'll give you the 80mb/s one.

  • Can't find conclusive information on the write speed.
Is it 10MB/S as the UHS1 suggests?

    • Sandisk Ultra series has 2 difference packaging.
Speed up to 80MB/s: 15MB/s Write Speed
Speed up to 48MB/s: 9MB/s Write Speed

      • In my experience it's about 20 MB/s write rather than 15.

      • Write speed on new model is over 50MB/s. see this thread for details on write speed.

They are faster than the samsung evo and evo+ that went on sale recently.
Which is probably why the samsungs went on clearance price.

I've just purchased one of these cards from Officeworks in the Brisbane City, and its in the 80MB/s packaging.

At home I have a card I purchased earlier in the week from the Auspost deal which is the 48MB/s packaging.

I will do some speed tests this evening to determine the real world differences.

    • At home I have a card I purchased earlier in the week from the Auspost deal which is the 48MB/s packaging.

older stock? the others, including me, from the AP thread got the 80MB/s packaging.

    • +2

Performance results between two 64gb cards, one 48MB/s the other 80MB/s.

There's an obvious difference, but the 48 doesn't perform as badly as people think.

Just ran my Sandisk Ultra 32gb MicroSD (cant remember whether it was 48 or 80) and it did ~88MB/s read and ~39MB/s write.

        • +1

Thanks for confirming this. Really helpful.

    • Was it labelled as an sdxc card or sdhc card??? Sony cameras want sdxc for their nicer codecs.

      • +1

H and X just refer to the highest capacity mate.

        H = 32gb
        X = 2tb

Nothing to do with the speed.

        • Thanks for the input, but the sony a6000 specifies in the manual that if I want to use the xavc codec then it's sdxc and a minimum of 64gb. I think it's to do with the file system, more so than speed.

        • +1

@ankor: its not about file system, with said codec you might need more than 32GB space (larger file size).

        • @bargainaus:

On this camera, it's just the particular requirements of the xavcs codec.
The a6k simply won't allow xavc-s recording on a sdhc card. It won't even allow it on sdhc cards that have been reformatted to exfat.

        • @ankor: again, its because the codec will produce large file size that may not accommodate within 32GB limit of SDHC cards. Hence they refer higher capacity SDXC. Don't worry much about file system, let your camera format the card.

        • @bargainaus:

I really don't care about the technical details of why/how the xavc-s works. I'm just going with what the numerous internet threads tell me. Sony a6000 records in xavc-s when you have an sdxc card and 64gb minimum. I didn't care about speed or filesystem, just xavc-s working on my camera..

Wrt xavc-s on the Sony a6000, people in numerous online threads have tried:
          - 32gb cards formatted from sdhc to sdxc without success
          - 64gb sdhc cards formatted to sdxc cards without success
          - 64gb sdxc cards on the a6000 with success

  • +1

Wonder why this 4K cameras can't use these cards?
    20 MB/s = 160 Mbps
No 4K consumer level video camera would have that high a bit rate.
    I'd guess 120 Mbps max if h.264, 60 Mbps if h.265

  • tried Cranbourne store, no luck. They only have 48MBps in stock.

    • Did you actually take the placeholder card to the counter?

      • yeah. still no luck.

  • just picked up last night seem to be the second last stock in store .. and it's 80 mb/s ..

    • Which store?

      • Lewisham

  • FTA - It transfers at fast speeds of up to 30 MB/s.

  • It looks like the image says UHS-I but in actual fact the description is Class 10 and when I went to store they were Class 10 which was confirmed on their price gun when they cross-referenced the product code on the website to the barcode of the product itself. Can we confirm that these 80Mbps speeds are for the Class 10 version or are there some actual UHS-I stock floating about?

edit: So it seems there are 48MB/s & 80MB/s versions floating about with the same barcode and everything. I will go back to the store and see if I can get a 80MB/s version instead.

Pretty ridiculous that Sandisk are producing two different spec products under the same barcode.

    • On both of the actual memory cards from different packaging (48mb/s or 80mb/s), it both printed class 10 not U1

  • Stop by Woolloongabba Officeworks Brisbane for a look, the placeholder card all show 48mb/s. I just went straight to the counter and ask one of the lady staff if she can check for any that got 80mb/s

She went to check and show me there a few left so I bought one. So there should be few left if anyone still looking for one :)

  • Fountain gate store has 80MBps in stock.

    Bought one this morning.

  • Looking for microsd 128gb, do you know any good going on at the moment?

  • I bought the AP one and also this OW one. The package is ever so slightly different. The AP one has lighter font on the back sticker where it says "Made in Malaysia". Also, the internal packaging is folded clear plastic where as the OW one has felt cover at the back which you peel off or break. Both adapters are made in China, AP has a date 2015-11-27 where as the OW one is 2015-10-20.
