Depends on what you want it for… i picked up a Lenovo 100s the other week for $200 which only has 2GB RAM and i am quite surprised how well it performs for basic use/what it cost. Wish the screen angles were better but $200 for a throw away (if needed) lappy for travel and streaming its shockingly quite decent!

  • any good personal body hair trimmer and hair dryer that worth to buy?

  • +1

Shame WA customers can't pick up ..

    • +1

Maybe they should buy some new clothes and have a shower

  • Watch all the popular items suddenly disappear, out of stock or price jump post-sale!

    • +1

      I noticed it too.

Even with the 20%, some items are the same price or more expensive than what I pay for in B&M shops.

IMO, it's just another false advertising campaign from eBay.

  • +7

Kogan got fined recently for raising their prices before announcing a sale. I think that sets a precedence for other retailers and we should complain to the ACCC to keep these retailers in check. I would not be overly surprised if Bing Lee upped their prices before the sale

    • Was this on Kogan's own website?

most places have discrepancies between ebay and own pricing

      • +1

        that would be on ebay

  • Nice… I found something I want.

    • +1

Watch the price inflate or see it mysteriously 'out of stock' in the next 8 hours.

      • Yeah.. I kinda think it might happen.

        • Did it happen?

        • @eug:

It didn't, I was pleasantly surprised. Sony lens is a good price.

  • +4
  • Am I missing something? Or is this only available to people in Sydney for click and collect?

    • That's because Bing Lee has physical stores in that state

      • Hope that means we can return the item in store as well if it is faulty etc.

      • Yeah, I knew that, I was mostly hoping that they'd ship interstate as well.

      • I'm in Melbourne and delivery worked for me

  • HP - Stream Notebook WAS $269.00 Last weekend now it is $369.00.

  • +1

Also, has anyone committed to buy items already? This may be an effective strategy to prevent price jacking, as it's possible to purchase the item at the current price, and then use the coupon when it is active?

    • best way to do it

      • so it works? (though the disadvantage I see is that you can't add further items to cart etc etc)

        • doesn't work ~ pretty sure it tells you that items in your cart have changed in description / pricing

        • yeah you can - commit to buy (buy it now) and when you get to the cart it actually shows up all the iems you have purchased. Sometimes though it is a bit flaky and only shows up one item, so you may jsut need to click "pay now" in different tabs to activate the purchase, then open up a final tab and click buy now and it should have all purchases there

        • @blehgg:

That's what happens if you add it to your cart and don't checkout. What I'm talking about is commiting to buy the item already without adding it to cart.

        • @lyl:

          mmm…. ok interesting…

  • Many of the prices are already inflated. I doubt they're gonna increase them again.

20% off is simply not good enough for the majority of products. The Dyson cleaners are quite cheap, though.

    • Agreed, was looking at Usb hubs and Binglee prices are expensive as.

  • In-store pick up only for most of the appliances :(.

  • Active!

  • -2

    jacked up pricing
    typical

  • No more basic Dyson v6

  • ok if they did inflated this morning then not bother to check

  • No shipping :( on TVs bigger than 32"

  • A damn shame that Good Guys don't apply their Price Beat guarantee to eBay stores :|

  • Bought this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161885913498?_trksid=p2055119.m14… from Binglee over the weekend for $850 and they gave me a $85 gift card as they had a promotion where you can get %10 of your purchase in gift cards. I think that was a better deal than this %20 off.

  • Picked up a Galaxy Tab S2. Cheers Op.

    • I'm trying to make a decision on this also!

iPad air 2 with everything i want/need and awesome battery life or Samsung S2 for 25% cheaper and an inferior product….

      • +2

Really just depends if you prefer iOS or Android. I have both an iPhone and an S5 for work. After using both phones for the past year, Android is my choice.

Just decide what will be your main purpose and which OS will make your life easier. For me, I'm only buying the Tab to watch movies, therefore Android makes my life easier by being able to connect it to my PC and then being able to drag and drop my movies straight onto my device. No iTunes or any other BS required, simple.

I would still buy the Samsung tab over the iPad even if they were the same price.

    • But where are the 9.7" Tab S2's? Been out of stock on their ebay page for weeks.

  • Thanks op, will probably settle on the Fuji Xerox CP225W for $103.20. Full set of toner is about $74 shipped which is affordable :)

  • +1

went for the GoPro Hero 4 Session $243~ delivered not the best price but its okay. now to find a suitable microSD card as a decent price

  • Looks like alot of the Dyson stuff is either truly sold out or deliberately out of stock

    • the normal v6 sold out (80+ units) in 10 minutes lol

      ozbargain'd

though yeah, everything else seems to be out of stock/overpriced

      • The DC54 Multifloor is a good price. Was $650 about a month or so ago.

  • -4

have no sympathy for these local retailers who are jacking up the price because ebay give discount, or deliberately remove items from listing.
hope binglee goes bust as well, just like dick smith.

    • +2

I checked ebay yesterday and the price is the same as today. I found Bing Lee's price very cheap already, and now with the discount, it's unbeatable today

      • +2

Agreed. And I only saw items go out of stock after the sale started indicating genuine sell outs.
What a selfish and stupid thing to say. I hope more hard working Australians DONT lose their jobs.

    • +1

Which item has had the price increased? I am watching a printer and something else and neither have gone up in price since the promotion started. I give Bing Lee credit for this, regardless of their regular prices in comparison to some competitors I do not see any price increases because of this sale.

  • BE CAREFUL…!

Most products in their store seems like overpriced.

    I looked at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Series-7-Home-Theatre-Sys…?

Both Harvey Norman and JB HI FI sell it for $765 and $764 but Bing Lee on ebay is $899. After discount is $809.. Looks like a rip off for me

    • +1

      It's $719 after discount… (20%)

      • Sorry My bad.. if it was originally at a comparable price I'm paying about $100 more less after discount :)

  • I'm trying to Click and Collect from a store that has the item I want in stock; but then at the check out it says "One or more of the items below can't be purchased because the seller doesn't send to the location selected". What am I doing wrong?

  • got a chromecast for $36. i know awhile back they were really down in price, now the cheapest is binglee at 45.

  • Anyone one whether they do group postage? Every item I click on charges $5 for postage.

  • Looks like Bing Lee is no better than Kogan or Dick.

    Check this:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/jg5jozo2tdibguk/bing%20lee%20rip.j…

    Original ebay link:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Bissell-1047F-AirRAM-Cord-Fre…

    NEW Bissell - 1047F - AirRAM Cord-Free Vacuum from Bing Lee $339.00
In popular items at the bottom of the page the same vacuum from Bing Lee is $279

    Add 20% and you have $344.80 + $10 postage

Yet another case of know your product prior to 'sale' or the chances are high you're getting no deal.

    • You are comparing the Website price against the Bing Lee Ebay price tho. eBay has fees associated with not only the listing but the store, it stands to reason it would be cheaper on the website compared to eBay.

I think people are so used to eBay being cheaper over the last decade that now when its not the case people are shocked by it. I almost always now go to the retailers website to buy an item because of it.

In regards to this sale Bing Lee have not raised prices so there is no comparison and therefore a non issue.

      • No, I am not comparing their website to Ebay.
I am comparing their Ebay to Ebay price.
Click on the link for the vac in popular items at the bottom of the page at $279 and it takes you straight back to the same Ebay listing at $339.

        Their website says $339
        https://www.binglee.com.au/search?q=bissell%201047F&page=1&l…

        • Apologies, didn't wrongly assumed the drop box link was from their website as couldn't see a URL. Something isn't right there I agree. How long ago was it at that price (279) on ebay? Maybe its worth reporting it…?

        • @Bargainz: I've no idea. I just saw it.

HN has it for $227 so there's no deal to be had when they're $112 cheaper anyway.

      • This is not really true..
        1. Large retailers don't have same ebay and paypal commissions as you and me. So they pay less commission.
        2. You don't do much marketing on eBay but on your website, marketing cost to get a customer to site can easily cost more than commission they pay on eBay.
        3. Some of these promotions either fully or ebay funded as well so retailers get full price they advertised on.

Due to these reasons, in fact large retailers can offer a better price on eBay than in their website if they want to

          1. Large retailers don't have same ebay and paypal commissions as you and me. So they pay less commission.

The commissions for anchor stores are listed on their website. It's 6% FVF (7.5% on fashion/tech/media/collectables, but 4% for items $200 and over in tech/home appliances).

Then add Paypal's commission on top of that. It will be higher than the sub-1% merchant fees they get directly from their bank.

Even if these retailers can negotiate an even better deal, that's x % higher than what it'll cost for them to sell the same item on their own website, which is already there.

          1. You don't do much marketing on eBay but on your website, marketing cost to get a customer to site can easily cost more than commission they pay on eBay.

Is that a fact or assumption?

          1. Some of these promotions either fully or ebay funded as well so retailers get full price they advertised on.

If it's specific to one store like this sale, it'd be extremely unlikely to be fully ebay-funded. There is no reason why ebay would specifically only promote one store in particular. They'd get a LOT more attention if they did a site-wide sale.

    FRAUD
The items can only be purchased if you stay in the Sydney Area.
Other areas are considered as Regional (Bush). Neither eBay nor Bing Lee are willing to help.
Report to ACCC like I just did

    • +5

All I'm going to say is that that is not fraud.
      End of story.

      • -3

It is a fraud since the advertisement states its applicable Australia wide, when in fact, it is restricted to the Sydney area. That is misleading and inappropriate.
        That is end of story.

        • +3

it is restricted to the Sydney area.

I'm in Brisbane. I just ordered a hard disk. It went through no problem.

So your statement is a fraud. It is misleading and inappropriate.

        • What you are claiming sounds like complete rubbish

I live on Central Coast NSW and ordered items this morning and just got a call that pickup is ready now

        • Harvey Norman got a $1.2million fine for similar. So I'm on the fence atm.

      • It is somewhat true… I was looking at a fridge and when you selected buy now it showed as only having stock in Sydney. Visited store (nsw regional) and they had stock but was exempt from ebay 20% deal.
So, if it shows as being not available thru your local bing lee on ebay that does not mean your local store does not have stock.

Not sure I would call it fraud although damn close… just lacks detail in the promotion from BL.

Was anybody else overcharged after applying the discount and then paying with PayPal? I bought the Galaxy Tab S2 and entered the coupon code. I then got an email from eBay saying that I paid AU $360.20 with PayPal. Yet when I checked my PayPal account, it shows that I paid $449 which is $360.20 for the item + delivery and then $88.80 for the voucher. Paypal has charged me the discount.

Here we go again, every thread

    • +1

I really wonder why every time someone asks the same question over and over again.

      • +1

I'm really sorry for not reading every comment of every previous deal ever posted on ozBargain.
        Thanks for being so helpful!

        • +2

It is not about reading every comment on every deal.

By taking part in the sale, you agreed to the T&C, which specifies how the deal works (eBay pays 20%). Or when you accuse PayPal of charging you the discount, you could have at least looked into the transaction details to see the full details which would show PayPal did nothing of the sort

    • No, if you click on the payment link and it shows -20% from your CC.

  • The 2 items I bought from Binglee's ebay site were the same prices as yesterday and I saved $210+.

    Thanks OP!

  • No postage on Coffee machines even, what a joke.

    • Prices are too high anyway. The normal price for many of those machines are $20-$100 less than the Bing Lee Price.
I am interested in the BES870 by Breville, but they jacked up their price to $699 (about $549 with the discount code+cashrewards). I will not pay anything more than $500 for that machine.

  • Is the NEW Samsung - SM-R7320ZKAXSA - Gear S2 Classic good deal for $440?

  • +1

Any good 32" or smaller tv deal? - not looking for UHD/LED/Android/other fancy stuff.
Can someone post their experience of Changchong tv's.

  • No good for me, price raised on a air con

  • Great price on 2x Logitech UE Boom 2 for me :D

    $199 20% = $39.80 = $159.20
    TRS $199 10% = $19.90
    CR $199 2% = $3.98

    So effectively paying
    $318.40 - $39.80 - $5.96 = $272.64 ($136.32 each)

    • You misssed the greatest price from dicksmith </sarcasm >

      • Getting "Dicked"??
        lol

  • Bought Galaxy Tab S2 and now it's out of stock.

  • Could anyone recomend a good value laptop off their ebay site. Preferably under $1000

  • Can we price match these prices with Good Guys or JB?

    • +1

      HN did on a large fridge… :-)

  • I just bought a fridge at their store today for the standard price, can i get a refund or complain about the sales person not telling me about a discount??

    • +2

No and no. Bing Lee don't accept change of mind returns as per their policy.

The ebay sale has nothing to do with the retail stores until they are told to allocate stock for a customer to pick up.

The staff don't necessarily need to have knowledge of the sale, note that it's not actually a normal 20% off sale, as eBay actually pays Bing Lee the 20%. If you failed to do your research before committing to buy something, that's your fault, not Bing Lee's.

  • Is anyone having trouble with adding item to your cart?
I'm looking at a Sony TV, when i check store location it says it has in stock, I go buy now and it comes up with error message saying it does not ship to that address?

  • Thanks so much for this! So perfect as I'm after a washing machine and a microwave!

With Bing Lee eBay shop, can I combine items to save on shipping? Or they need to be individual purchases?

    Thanks!!!!

    Loz

    • +1

Best to ask Bing Lee, if possible.
Normally with eBay, each item will have individual shipping costs.

      • For the spesh, they wouldn't do combined shipping. Ended up selecting delivery for washing machine and then separate order and bought a microwave click and collect.

Now I wanna buy a nutribullet, but it doesn't allow click and collect which is annoying. Only has a $10 shipping option…
