You can find it a bit cheaper here as well but some may prefer bing lee - https://homecinemacentral.com.au/soundsystems/yht-9920aubg

So listen to it at Bing Lee, scare away the customers and then order it from homecinemacentral for $22 less, got it :)

In seriousness though, this looks pretty bad arse. I can't afford it (even if I could, the wife…) but I'd love to hear it in action.

So you've linked to a deal which is more expensive and doesn't include the free remote. Why not post the better deal then?

  • +2

I have never dealt with the other guys and not sure about the postage. As I said some may find the physical store deal more attractive

some may find the physical store deal more attractive

This isn't OzAttractive, this is OzBargain !!!

Go to Bing Lee and ask for 15% price beat.

    Cheaper here !!!

    No deal………

    • +3

Plus delivery fee. You can bet the delivery fee won't be cheap of some thing that bulky. You do although get the free bonus remote control in this deal.

"NOTE DELIVERY WILL REQUIRE QUOTATION DUE WEIGHT AND CUBIC VOLUME"

      • +1

does Bing Lee's price include delivery (to WA)?

        • The $2999 price you see from Bing Lee doesn't include the delivery fee. Delivery fee was extra. It doesn't matter now any way because it seems to be now sold out online.

    • +2

Jv, you can post it as a seperate deal. I won't cry out for duplicate.. As I stated in the description, yes there is a $22 cheaper advertised price but not sure about the postage and I highly doubt it to be any less than $22.. Also some of our fellow ozbargainers can buy it instore at binglee without a postage.. So why not?On top of all, I think for something which costs $3000, it's better to buy from a reputed store rather than an online seller.

Not saying this is a bad deal, but if you've got $3k or a little more to spend on a surround sound system, do yourself a favour and go into a SPECIALIST STORE. Plenty in the large capital cities, google them.

Audition different packages, different amps, different speakers.

$3k goes an awful long way to a very nice system, but different ears hear different things.
Something awesome to others might be too bassy or trebley to you.

And besides, whilst you can pick up the amp in this deal separately for $1600 or so, the old rule of at least half the budget for speakers still applies, but with surround sound its closer to 1/3 amp, 2/3 speakers, due to the amount of speakers required. Spend most on fronts and centre, then sub, then surrounds. But they must match as a set, dont overpower one channel. This amp will sound VERY different with some big brand SPEAKERS. Yamaha make amps. Other companies make better speakers.

Yes yes, before the fanbois get their panties in a twist… Yamaha speakers arent 'bad'. But there definitely is better. I love my Yami amp, but speakers wise it really does shine with aftermarket high quality speakers.

TBH for this budget I'd even consider dropping down a little on amp specs, and get better speakers on a lower model. Or if you MUST have this amp, spend an extra $1k on speakers that match it better…. that way you can listen to different brand speakers and match them to your own eardrums :).

Yamaha is selling you amp specs in this package, not listening pleasure.
This amp will shine with better speakers!! GO AUDITION SOME!

    • Yes to this.
You can definitely get better speakers, sub, and amp at the 3k range.
Of course the ceiling for hi Def audio is sky high; some sub woofers themselves start from 2k.

    • checkout eastwoodhifi (Sydney) or Sunnybankhifi (Brisbane) - They had some great deals going over in early Jan. I'd try to upgrade this to NS-777 mains if possible.

    • Where can I find the $1600 deal please UFO? This receiver is on my shortlist

  • +2

If I were you, call up every single stores near you to get a quote first. Ask if they can do a 30% discount if you pay cash. If not, try 25% or 20%, anything is better than nothing. The golden rule is never pay full price on anything.

3 Grand for a surround sound system? Is your house a studio? I am glad I am not your neighbor.

    • +2

Oh AussieDaddy… best you dont go into those "HiFi Stereo shops", you'd drop dead from the pricing :). 3k is NOTHING!

      • +1

UFO & exp1, sorry, my rich brothers. I am just a poor laborer and such amount of $$ for a sound system is above my comprehension. :)

        • I'm on OzBargain for a reason AussieDaddy… and its not because I have stacks of spare money to spend :).

Like a good TV, I reckon up to $5k is ok on good audio. There are certainly much more expensive packages (like 50k! plus), but like every other item you can buy the cost to benefit ratio drops big time. $5k in audio these days is that 'sweet spot' imo.

Once you hear/experience a proper audio setup, you'll never go back to stock packages like this again.

Better than cinema surround sound, because the speakers and timings are much perfectly to your seating position. It puts you right in the movie… awesome.

3k is what audiophiles spend on 850gsm Egyptian-virgin lambswool insulated power cables

      • Good for them. I'll grab some $50 discounted, sh!tty Bluetooth speakers from Big W or Target during their sale period.

      • There are methods to bilk the gullible at both ends of price spectrum.
What does one actually get when buying a 24 carat diamond ring? Happiness, commitment, pleasure?

        • Personally, I think you're better off buying 24 carrots. :D

        • +1

A wife silencer for a week. Well worth it lol.

        • @Slippery Fish:

And a constant reminder to her every time a friend comments about the ring. If she's not happy at day 1 of giving it, it'll get worse for you as time goes on. Just get her something nice… dont go cheap, because it'll cost you later anyway :).

        • @UFO: you sir are a wise man!

  • Sold out online.

Red banner on the page under the Add to cart button which says "This product is currently out of stock." and won't add to the cart. Even though it says In Stock online next to the Add to cart button. Looks like the red banner is an accurate stock count and the other to the right of the Add to cart button which claims is in stock online is wrong.
