6 Months Free on Presto

5150
PRESTO6MTHTEST

Found this in Gumtree this morning and it works - Looks like its a leaked test code (and longer than any of the ones currently on here). Added the code to the signup page, and it worked for me when I registered just now. Looks like they have some decent shows - Mr Robot, Walking Dead, Parks and Rec etc.

Now if they could just launch an Apple TV app…

This is a very hard one for me, I don't really want to support a company that is backed by a company that is one of the biggest reasons Netflix (any anything really) has such enough trouble getting shows in Aus. At the same time, it is definitely a good deal though.

    • +1

If you do not continue your subscription you are not supporting them. In fact your costing them money

  • +11

    "leaked" test coupon lol

more like they have no customers so have to keep giving away 6 month vouchers so it looks like "growth is strong!" at the next pointless board meeting of old idiots that have no idea what they are doing

  • +1

I accept that presto is worthless
You are going to waste your precious time, you better enjoy it.
Presto app has no setting, no configuration , nothing, and they count your app on each device, and also any browser on any device, plus the device itself towards your maximum allowed devices.
So if you stream through their android app from your Android phone, using a google chromecast on your smart TV, then you are done! Max reached.
Plus the movies are very old and limited. So are the tv shows.
They have been promising for years now to work on the app and updating movies, but still the same.

  • Where are you guys entering the code?

Can't seem to find it in my accounts setting.

    • Only when you sign up.

  • +1

This One looks dodgy as all heck …. Unlike the telstra codes, presto will be able to tell who is not a genuine customer here.

I wonder if they will let if fly? If it came from gumtree free classifieds, they will have tens of thousands of new sign ups today

I created a second account so my existng free account is not affected if they reject this.code in a few hours

  • Worked for me, 11:00am EST

  • You're a legend OP

  • -2

I'd reckon some Presto test enginer leaked the code into the public. I'd reckon that Presto after they find out will disable all accounts which use this code.

  • Awesome!!!!!!

  • +2

Heaps of current movies, Walking Dead first 5 seasons, etc, etc
Watch it on the PlayStation app

  • +1

My mum has enjoyed using the previous free account to watch the New season of A Place to Call Home

  • FYI. They won't add the Virgin promo code to this deal as codes don't stack and they "suggest" you create another account and get a free month and add the code to that account. Useless I know but I've already gone through the hassle of emailing them to get the code added manually and that's what they replied with cause I'm still on the previous Telstra 6 month trial.

  • +2

thanks, I have not paid for Presto since it came out :))))))))))))))))))

  • Worked for me, 12:27pm. Thanks OP.

  • If only you could stack

  • +5

I've already got Netflix (US), Hulu and Amazon Prime. I'm having a hard time finding anything worth watching on Presto.

The web interface is poor. The "Watchlist" feature doesn't work. The "Movies - recently added" section looks like the $1/week section in an outback general store.

I wonder if they'll still be around in six months?

Oh well. At least it's free.

BTW: You can use the reminder feature, just below the deal description on this page, to set say 17/08/16 as a reminder to cancel your subscription.

    • +1

Reminders here don't work. Known problem.

      • I set one for the 50% domino's coupon (for Feb 1st) and it worked fine.

People could always subscribe to this deal and I'm sure someone will post here a few days before the free period expires.

        • One working for you (on desktop?) doesn't dismiss the problem acknowledged by staff. I can't trust something known to be broken. Google Calendar, for me.

  • Works. Thanks!

  • Just signed up, thanks OP. Despite many, many presto coupons floating around this is the first time I've signed up so I'm keen to see how it goes…but have low expectations :)

I recommend going into Settings and disabling spam and info sharing.

By default you are opted into:
    - Presto content newsletter
    - Marketing messages from Presto
    - Marketing messages from Seven
    - Marketing messages from Foxtel

You can also opt out of your information being sent to Foxtel.

  • whens the best time to cancel my subscription?

    august 19th?
or should I cancel a bit early, assuming we pre pay month in advance

    • early

it keeps the sub alive for the rest of the sub for that month

    • Once you register go to setting and ot will show account expiration date, cancel only 1 day before and you won't be charged.

      • awesome thanks

        • Or even at the start of the last month, eg my subscription ends 3/3/16, I cancelled a few days ago but can still watch till 3/3.

I wont renew though even for free I dont thinks its worth creating a new email address!

  • worked. thanks. created new account.

  • how can i leach and save hd content from presto? any knowledge? I have bad internet speed, so want to download during night and watch during evenings.

    • Have you tried with IDM?

  • Thank you OP!

  • I recommend 'The Jinx: The Life And Deaths Of Robert Durst' because it's back in the news 2016.

Mind you, it can be found on www.dailymotion.com

  • Promo Code Error
An error occurred when applying the promo code. Please review the troubleshooting guide to ensure you are applying the code correctly. If you continue to have further issues, please contact customer support at [email protected]

    • Look like they have fixed this code. It only gives me one month free sub now.

      Next subscription payment
      $14.99 on 19/03/2016

      • I just signed up about 15 minutes ago, using a new email. It worked for me.

        Next subscription payment
        $0.00 on 19/03/2016

        Amount
        100% off for 6 months
You will be charged $0.00 per month for the first 6 months, then $14.99 per month there after

note: I didn't get any confirmation email which is weird, but I can log in via website and iphone app too.

  • +1

I guess I have Presto now, thanks OP!

    • +1

      +Votes are free, too.

  • Thanks

  • works for me, but says i have already subscribed. i have tried 4 different email addresses. Does it remember cc details possibly?

    • used a prepaid cc and it worked

  • +1

I get "presto has encounter a glitch"

  • edit

  • gumtree of all places? nice

    I guess its been ozbargain'd ?

  • Just used it now - Still works for me! :)

  • Thanks, work for me

  • Didn't work.. No welcome email.. No confirmation email.

  • signed up, can log in, no email, cant log into app.

  • wish there is a new deal for Stan, personally i felt Stan has a larger selection

  • Promo Code Error?

  • Working

  • It's letting me log in and use it but I haven't received any email from them so it seems a bit strange. Hopefully it'll continue to work.

  • It worked; had to create a new account and now have 6 month free Presto. Thank OP

  • Works thank you!
Having trouble with the parental settings though, won't let me check the R18!

    • The help page says that you can not select more than 15+; for R18+ you need to select the movie and than use your PIN number to watch it.

  • Will this work through my smart tv somehow?

    • If it's a Samsung and one of the following models
      2012 E Series (all sizes)
      2013 F Series (all sizes)
      2014 H Series (all sizes)

Or it is also available on the Sony Android TVs

  • How much I should pay after 6 months if I want to use it?

    • $14.99PER MONTH

    • $1

  • Quickflix just sent me a code for 3 free months with Presto.
Anyone know if it can be stacked?

  • sigh, signed up last time with the 6 months free. never used it. signed up again. sigh.

  • Just used the code with great success.

Have a credit card that expires before the end of the free subscription, so will never pay a cent.

I have a T-Box, so I might even use this subscription, though I didn't do much with the free 6 months from Telstra.

  • So what is on Presto that isn't on Nexflix, Hulu, Stan etc?

  • only with credit card

  • Presto makes Free look bad.

  • Just tried and it worked, thanks.

  • Is there no way to list/search for movies by release year? I want to browse/watch recent releases, but can't figure out how.

    • +1

Try this. It is not complete and not up-to-date (last updated 7 December 2015), but it is better than nothing.

      http://www.finder.com.au/presto-movies

      • Sort by 'Release Date' and it shows 2016-02-02

      • Thanks, I did find that and used it with moderate success to build a watch list on the computer. Then went to watch on mobile and discovered the watch list on the app doesn't sync to desktop one! And no Chromecast support? Sheesh…

  • Good work OP. If Presto offers subtitles then I may watch it a bit more.

  • Is Presto unmetered on Telstra broadband?
    What about on Telstra 4G?

    • +1

Possibly. Presto is listed here. Also:

Unmetered sites let BigPond Broadband Members on ADSL, Cable, NBN or Mobile Broadband plans (excluding hourly plans) access downloads, video streams and editorial content without affecting their monthly usage limit.

BigPond broadband, including mobile broadband - yes.
Telstra mobile and mobile broadband - not sure.

However, I don't know whether streams are sent outside of those domains (e.g. via a CDN) so there's a chance it may not be unmetered.

    • +1

Was watching presto on my phone yesterday, and noticed my data didn't get reduced so I think it's unmetered unless there was some glitch. The iphone app is a bit glitchy though

  • What I did to get 6 months Presto free is send SMS "PRESTO" to 0498 500 400, and you'll get the code within 5 minutes…

  • Anyone read the T&C's:
We may alter the amount we deduct from your Presto Account if your Subscription Fees change in accordance with this Agreement. We may also deduct any other payment owed to us under this Agreement.
If we are unable to collect your Subscription Fee or other charges due to us from you, we may immediately cancel or suspend the provision of all or any part of the Presto Service to you without giving you notice. This does not affect our right to cancel this Agreement under paragraphs 37-38 below.

    • If they deduct payment on this code it means the code was designed for public use.

      Other T&C's state:

You will be charged $0.00 per month for the first 6 months, then $14.99 per month there after.

      Can't have it both ways.

  • I was half-way registered (old code that didn't work), finalised registration and code worked a charm! Legend OP! no payments until August hehe.

  • Thanks OP

  • You will be charged $0.00 per month for the first 6 months, then $14.99 per month there after. do i have to pay the 14.99 after?

    • +1

from above; if you cancel the account in 5.5 months they should not charge you if you did not wish to continue the subscription.

    • If you don't cancel your account within 6 months you will be charged for the 7th month onwards. If you intend on cancelling prior to being charged you may want to review the cancellation rules to see if there's a delay at all.

  • Worked for me, new account. 13:30AEST.

  • Thanks OP; got it all set up and working on the ps4 app; god the UI is sluggish and ugly; a few movies and shows I might watch but immediately wanted to go back to netflix for the usability :P

  • +3

I got the 6 month trial, but do not need it. I only needed 6 minutes to see what an utter piece of crap this app and service is.

    App runs like a dog

No way to go back to a show you were halfway through unless manually is a feature

    NO SUBTITLES

    What the (profanity).

    Stay away guys!

    • +1

No subtitles?! Glad I'm not paying for this (profanity).

    • Doesn't support rooted devices either. :(

  • anyone knows when this ends? want to leave it as late as possible for when my current 6 month freebie ends in april

  • Player Error
Sorry, but an error has occurred playing this content.

    ?????

  • I got the 6 months free. Presto doesn't work on my Samsung TV, and their Android app is terrible as well. Oh well.
Still, this is a good post, an + for OP, thanks for posting.

  • +3

    Still too expensive.

  • +2

Presto = Biggest load of crap.
I have 3mbps internet speed and Presto at it's LOWEST data setting WILL NOT play on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
Yet I can play Netflix and Stan all day long with no dropouts or buffering in 720p.
Have hounded them and they are useless.
They say you need 3mbps to play the lowest quality, 5mbps for 720p and 6mbps for HD.
OK if you have NBN or live next door to an exchange otherwise forget it.

    ABSOLUTE CRAP!

  • +2

Thank you for the deal. I didn't know that Presto was so annoying. I cannot use the Android app on my "jailbroken" device (if I accept losing the warranty and root my phone that is my problem, and I really don't think that Presto has the right to block my service because I'm using an unlocked phone). I also have to deactivate my smart DNS service, otherwise Presto thinks that I'm not in Australia. Finally, I agree with trustnoone, and although I really like some contents (Big Bang Theory :)), I'll probably not support Presto since I already have Netflix.

One more thing… Presto doesn't work on my LG TV. I have to use Chromecast, which is not the same thing.

  • Dam didnt work for me now it says im getting billed how to cancel this.

    • Did you entered the voucher code correctly? I just did now and it worked for me.

  • Hi all. I took up a 3 month trial in December. Finishes early March. I contacted Presto a couple of weeks back to suspend my subscription. You can contact them through the Presto Community and ask to suspend or cancel your subscription ANYTIME from when you start it, so don't have to worry about forgetting to cancel it.

I have to say I've really enjoyed Presto as I got to watch The Wire and a couple of movies. For free it's brilliant, better than crap free to air tv with Ads.
