      • -1

Then title should say save $50

        • Maths. $1,199 - $1,099 = $100 ?

          save $100

        • +2

@hollykryten: was $1149 last night when jv posted

        • @eediot:

I see, that makes sense now.

        • @hollykryten:

          Maths

Seems like an okay price, these are $1349ish new

    • +1

      This isn't new though…

      • And it's $200 cheaper…

        • And it's $200 cheaper…

It's only $50 cheaper than they normally sell it for… So 4% off

        • +5

@jv: agree with jv. Definitely just advertising.

        • @jv:

They normally sell this refurb for $1199. So currently $100 cheaper as of the moment after they dropped the price to $1099.

      • +1

As they say jv, this is ozbargain not ozdeal. If it's a bargain (which this kinda is) then post it, even if it isn't an amazing discount from normal. Right? I feel like I'm about to be heavy-negged lol.

        • +6

          4% off isn't a bargain for a laptop deal… I got a Dell a couple of months back for over 40% off…

        • thanks mate, just adjusted the price down again !

        • +1

@jv: Look jv, you got them to $1100, maybe you're right :)

        • +2

          @deanylev:

          8% off is much better… :)

        • +2

          @jv: thanks

Not much of a bargain on a refurb. IMO $900 or less would be a worthy bargain but less than 10% off the refurb price and less than 20% off (versus brand new product elsewhere) isn't much of a discount, probably just advertising. Not going to neg OP though.

    • Was gonna post an angry reply, but you aren't wrong I guess. These are $1350 new from Wireless1 (albeit with 12GB of RAM, a cheap and easy fix). For someone spending this much, $250 isn't that much for a laptop they know will last longer, and won't be 'used ;)' by someone else.

These refurbs have been under $800 during ebay sales with graysonline

      R552 is identical to N550

We need a so/so button between average and bargain

    • Kinda wish I could upvote this twice.

  • This has been cheaper during e-bay sales (~800)

A refurbished, 2014 laptop over thousand dollars. O Australians, the most ripped-off people in the world!

  • +10

Why is nearly full price for a second hand repaired laptop a bargain? Some people need their heads refurbished.

  • Guys, you can negotiate to purchase multiple machine on this device for $1,032ea:

I think the store thought they cam make $300 easy profit on refub laptops each by simply posting ad on ozb.

Brand new direct from ASUS is $1,699

    http://shop.asus.com/store/asusau/en_AU/pd/ThemeID.34023100/…

That makes this refurb actually $600 less than brand new you could say ASUS own going price.

    • Are you aware you are on OzBargain? Here we do not care about RRP, we do not pay RRP, we are after deals which are bargains compared to regular street prices (which are way bellow RRP). This refurbished laptop at $1099 is not a bargain.

      • -1

That $1699 price from ASUS is not really RRP it's ASUS own going price on their online store. Usual RRP is $2099.

And there's a big difference between brand new box and refurbished. Refurbished is basically a done up repaired second hand laptop.

Street price for a brand new is $1449. So an extra $350 gets you brand new boxed never been used before. Refurb here in this thread deal is far from brand new.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Asus-N550JK-CM452H-Laptop-Int…

I agree $1099 for a refurb of this laptop is a bit over the top when you can buy one brand new for $1449.

Not a bargain, now repeat after me: Not a bargain. Refurbished, discontinued model!

It was superseded by N551 and now N552 updated series

quick search reveals a better priced N551 for $1395 http://www.computeralliance.com.au/asus-n551jx-dm066h-15.6-c…

    • -1

Yeah, it's not a real good deal.

  • Interesting, this same seller is offering the "newer" R552JK-CN089H (i74700HQ/16GB RAM/GTX850M 4GB/15.6 FHD screen) for only $50 more

Price difference is what they are charging for an extra 4GB of RAM in this deal…
