  • sorry if this is a stupid question.. just wondering what is the difference between this and the 10400mah?

    • I think this is a newer model? I dont know.

    • This one is much smaller, and I think only has 3 battery cells as compared to the 4 in the 10400mah which makes it smaller.

    • +9

10000mAh replaced the 10400mAh version. Besides losing 400mAh, it has 30% more energy density, smaller dimensions and weighs less.

  • +2

Xiaomi cases are from ~ $2 on fleabay

    • damn really? link? is it free shipping?

    • Why do you need a case for a 25-dollar product? It isn't like you want to keep it in good shape for high resale value! So why spend more and add bulk to it?

      • +2

I think the power bank is quite "tough" and could therefore damage other items in your bag etc.

      • What blue duffle coat says is true, the skin protects your stuff from being scratched. Also gives friction to prevent sliding

  • Don't suppose Xiaomi make jump starters for cars yet?

    • +1

Can't find any after a quick search, but I bought a KMASHI one last year and it's been fantastic:

      http://www.gearbest.com/iphone-power-bank/pp_237534.html

It's about $59 but well worth it. It takes nearly exactly 8,000mAh to charge from USB, so it's not lying about claimed capacity. I've used it to jump-start two cars with ease, and it can even start them without the car battery installed (I tested it for fun, even though it's not a good idea as some cars rely on the battery to help regulate alternator voltage) and charged many different mobile phones with it. Only issue is that you need to use the cable that came with it, which is wired as a charge-only cable. USB data+charging cables will probably only charge at a slow 500mA rate. The cable it came with has the data pins shorted out, which signals to the mobile phone that it can draw more current and charge faster. It outputs at least 2A through my dummy load. I'd like to open up the charger and short the pins internally, but it's sealed tightly shut and I don't want to break it.

      • I've often wondered about these sort of things to jump start a car
Not having amperage to do it…..

        I'm actually quite surprised.

Wondering why I carry such big jumper leads in my old banger

      • thanks for the review, much appreciated

  • They seem to be AUD$18.23 here?

    (via https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/233593)

EDIT: seems like these ones have a reduced capacity - 6250mAh. Says 10000mAh in the title, then directly under, says 6250mAh:

Authentic Xiaomi Mi Pocket "10000mAh" Mobile Power Bank

    actual capacity 6250mAh / DC 5.1V/2.1A output ↓ details & specifications

    • -1

No the capacity is not reduced, theres no difference between the fasttech and geekbuying powerbanks. Many tests reveal that the actual capacity of these banks are much lower than the '10000mah' capacity claimed by xiaomi.

    • no idea. seems strange

      • +6

Its 10000mAh at 3.7 volts, the nominal voltage of a lithium cell, but only 6250 mAh at 5 volts that it provides on usb to charge your phone.

mAh is a stupid unit to choose to rate battery capacity with

        • I've tested my KMASHI brand 8,000mAh powerbank with a USB logger and when it's completely flat, it takes almost exactly 8,000mAh @ 5V to recharge it via USB, so not all powerbanks are rated this way. I bought it through this deal and have been EXTREMELY happy with it, even used it to jump-start the car a couple of times when I was having battery issues:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/211708

I do agree, the mAh of the battery is a stupid way to advertise capacity. Once again, marketing morons ruin things for everybody.

Interestingly, I think GearBest has this XIAOMI power bank for $23.25, which is cheaper than this deal, remember to select AU for price first:
          http://www.gearbest.com/mobile-power-bank/pp_187685.html

        • @greenie4242: My guess this is just coincidence, with the difference between 8000mAh@5V & [email protected] being the losses in the charging process?
As this has outputs at 5V & 14.8V, i suggest it would be unlikely the capacity would be in anything other than the actual li-ion cell voltage, without specifying as much.
Looks like a good product anyway.

    • It's 10000mAh @ 3.6V, which is the cell voltage.

  • How long does shipping usually take?

I really want to wait for the quick charge version (if there is one planned) but I have a trip to JP in a couple of months.

    • Free shipping is 3-4 weeks. Xiaomi have a 20000mAh power bank that can be charged with QC but it won't charge your phone with QC.

      • +1

        Got a special on these?

        • +1

I'll find out and get back to you.

        • @Clear: Would like to know too please. Waiting on a sale for these

        • @Clear:
          +1 here as well

        • @Clear: +2 ?

        • +1

I've managed to push a deal price for it down to $30.99 USD.

        • @Clear: now, where can i buy the this for $30.99?

        • @lfchow: As soon as I'm given a coupon.

        • @Clear: cool, please keep us up to date once you have the coupon.

      • Have you gotten the coupon code for the 20000mAh one? I am very interested

        • +1

Not yet. I should have it by Friday.

        • @Clear: have it now?

        • @Imros: Yes. I'll have a deal sometime after 4pm

      • Which models have quick charge for both charging and charging the phone?

  • +2

None local stock should be less than $20. I got mine for around $17, which wasn't the cheapest.

  • -2

Cheaper at GearBest by $2.39 (remember to change it to AU currency first):
    http://www.gearbest.com/power-banks/pp_187685.html

There seem to be some valid 8% off GearBest codes floating around, do a google search for GearBest coupon before purchasing and you might get it cheaper.

    • +5

in case you didnt know. GearBest doesn't have a stellar reputation.

      • +1

I've ordered heaps of stuff from them and it all arrived safely. Takes longer than Geekbuying though. Maybe I've just been lucky.

        • +2

          You have been.

    • I agree, gear best are horribly slow

  • Just wondering if the cells in these are good quality ?

    • +1

Xiaomi (ZMI) have an excellent reputation for using high quality cells. This power bank is using 3 cells and they are Panasonic & LG.

      • do you know if their Phones are any good?

        • Yep. They're very popular and there are a lot of good reviews for the Redmi Note 2. This review explains it fairly well.

        • They're quite popular in China, and in some parts of Asia.

To everyone else, they're basically a bargain phone from a random Chinese company that's big in China.

Would I buy a Xiaomi phone? Not for myself, I would rather be seen with a Samsung, Sony, or iPhone… but for my aging parents? Probably. Big phones for little money.

        • My dad uses the redmi note 2. It's pretty good, feels good on hand too albeit a little too smooth makes it easy to fall out of hand.

    • +1

I've found mine to be excellent. Xiaomi's products are top quality - I haven't been disappointed with any of their products.

  • Has anyone had experience with FastTech?

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/1450/10009006/3600900

    • Why are some specified as ZMI? If they are fake and faulty, you can report them to Xiaomi

      • +1

Because ZMI is the company that makes power banks for Xiaomi. Xiaomi own or have invested in close to 20 companies that make their other products. Xiao Yi for example make the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera and Huami make the Mi Band.

    • The prices are in USD so be careful and remember to use 10% discount promo RMBBUST

  • What capacity power bank would a MacBook Air need to get fully charged?

    • +2

I don't think you can charge a laptop over these.

    • +1

Not as cheap as a previous deal*
is that seriously your logic on what is classified as a deal?

      • Even now it is still 4 cents cheaper and takes 2-3 weeks to receive

        • BG don't have cheap courier shipping though.

        • @Clear: what do you mean by that?? BG has free shipping as yours.

        • @ntt: Free shipping yes, but GB offers discounted TNT Express.

        • @Clear: I don't care which service they are using, as long as it arrives in one piece and we don't have to wait forever. I was going to vote the post down but I don't think it is necessary. Anyway, you can beat them by reduce some cents. :)

  • Ordered a Ainol Mini PC from GeekBuying after a deal on this forum, I had it a week before it broke. They had the item back since the 28th December, now two months on its still not fixed and no return item has been sent. Order number#3479822.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE, they'll happily take your money but provide no support.

    • +4

I said it elsewhere and I'll say it here too. Ask for help instead of spamming it everywhere next time.

I'll speak to Geekbuying and find out what's going on.

      • I appreciate your help, I really do.

I've been trying to reach out for help for the last 3 weeks.

I would have preferred to PM you, but I cannot see that functionality here.

Just for your info, I bought the unit in October last year, it took close to a month to arrive (understandably).

I used it for a about a week before the HDMI gave out. I posted the unit back immediately. They confirmed receipt on the 28th December.
They stated it would take 2-4 weeks to repair (!?!). I was surprised, but ok.

4 weeks go by, no repaired or replacement item is forth coming, when asked I'm told the factory is busy, be patient.

Then was told the factory is closed due to Chinese New Year.

As recently as the 19th Feb I was told
        "
        Thanks for your reply.
Ok, we will send it to the factory for checking and repairing.
Any news we will keep you informed.
Wish you have a nice day."

So it hasn't even gone to the factory!!!!!

So sorry I'm spamming your posts, but at this point, maybe only financial pressure will get a result. I've asked for a refund, it hasn't been provided, I've asked for a replacement item, it hasn't been provided. I would even be happy with a working item…. is it too much to ask?

    • And now you should be receiving an email from customer support in the next couple of days.

    • Helps warn customers about merchants though. Often the best business are those without complaints

      • Anyone that has a good experience almost never reviews ;)

While my power in solving issues is limited I'm very quick at responding and will always let customer service know. The other advantage is that you won't get hit by the language barrier by talking to me directly.

        • Good products and services speak for themselves, and customers feel excited about their good deal so of course they share their experiences.

Good merchants know how to reward their customers and suppliers. The problem is a merchant being anyone wanting to make money from others, and not really caring about the service they should be providing.

  • Bought the 20k :)

  • How quickly do these discharge when idle? Like, if I leave it in my bag for a month, will it still hold power?

  • +1

    gotten cheaper guys, 24.76 now.

  • So I ordered a tronsmart port charger (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228904) off them on delivery by TNT (3-5 days) on 19th. 10 days later, item is still not shipped and emailed them. Got a reply saying it has stopped production while its still on the sale on their website(?) and asked me to choose another item of same value. Looks kinda dodgy
