  • 14 Nights Sydney-Singapore from $732pp

    How much is it normally?

    • Dunno. I paid around the same price for another Royal Caribbean cruise departing from Sydney 28 March but only for six nights.

Below is a similar deal that occurred last year. However departing from Fremantle (Inc. Gratuities).

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/186951

  • That's pretty cheap. I assume then it is NOT all inclusive. I usually cruise with Crystal and a 14 night we would be around the 3-5k mark depending on discounts etc.

    • +1

Includes accommodation, food, entertainment, certain drinks (lemonade, ice tea, coffee/tea) etc. Not alcoholic drinks.

      • +1

Damn that is a fantastic deal then.

        • +1

Crystal and RCL are very different standards. Like going to a 3.5 star hotel vs going to a 5*. Still a good deal though.

      • -1

I can't see where it says that food included. The other fares have onboard credit of $200-500 included but no onboard credit included in this deal.

        • +1

Food is included. Once you're on board they have no way to limit your access to the restaurant/buffet/cafe etc.

    • I assume then it is NOT all inclusive.

      Doesn't include Medical Insurance.

  • You should add that it's minimum 2 people.
    (Just in case)

I don't think they'll have problems getting more than 2 passengers on the cruise at this price…

      • +1

Happy with the price, but no upvote jv?

  • +6

Please don't remove your gratuities. The staff get paid very little…

    • we usually tip people extra on top for great service such as house keeping and waiters but there are a lot of people behind the scenes.

    • +1

The staff get paid very little…

They do get to go on the cruise for free though…

      • +4

and work their guts out (can we get JV a job on a cruise ship?)

    • +8

Do you know how much they get paid?
I removed mine at Guest services and paid cash in hand instead, saved money and also gave it directly to the people we have direct contact with.
It's 12.95 USD per night, per person for prepaid gratuities.
That's 181.3 USD extra per person onto the ticket for 14 nights, $252 AUD~ according to an exchange rate of 1AUD -> 0.719USD.
So if you wanted to do automatic gratuities that brings the cost up to 1k per ticket.

Their service is excellent but the gratuities isn't exactly low. If you want to be a cheapass, go to Guest services the second night and ask them to remove gratuity charges on your account, let them know you want to pay your servers in cash instead. Whether you pay anything is up to you, though I'm sure you're going to be blown away by their service.

      Protip
If you want to withdraw USD from the ship and don't want to pay the $6.50 ATM fee, use 28 degrees mastercard/citibank debit card to settle your SeaPass account.
Use your Seapass card (it's your onboard swipe card for entry into your room and sign off on-board purchases) to withdraw chips from the Casino, then use the chips to cash in USD :)

Don't bother with Izumi or Giovanni's Table (the "specialty" restaurants), though for Izumi if you must try, on the first night they offer 30% off the bill (probably the best night to have it as the ship just resupplied), our sashimi was all frozen fish (8th night).
Giovanni's table - their cover charge is usually $35 but for a large group booking you can get it to $25.
Izumi's ramen soup was terrible, their beef soup tasted like instant noodles soup, tonkotsu was too watery. Both had overpowering bamboo in it, I would describe their dish as bamboo soup ramen with a hint of tonkotsu/beef.

If you have any issues with wrong drink orders at party events, hang on to the receipt and when you settle your Seapass account, you can mention it and they may refund it for you (don't demand it though, and don't expect it to definitely happen)!

If you take any RC cruises, I suggest that on the form for your Seapass Account, you tick settle by Cash (you can settle by credit card anyway even if you do this). This gives you a chance to review all the charges on your account before paying.

There's free room service from a set window that I can't recall exactly (6am - 10pm?), you can order as many as you like but sometimes it takes quite a while for it to arrive, the stuff on the room service menu that's free is quite limited.

On the Voyager, there's a little eatery next to "Cafe Promenade" that's open 24/7, once you get on the ship, you can load up your bellies straight away! Cafe Promenade isn't free though.

        Good tips

      • + bankwest zero
        + coles premium mastercard

        • Oh?
          What are their benefits?
I thought it was just 28 Degrees MasterCard (for Credit Card) and Citibank was the go for travelling.

      • Great tips!

  • Dull question!
How do we get back? Fly or cruise? Included in the booking? Not enough info in the web though

    • +1

This is only a way one cruise. You have to to book a flight or another cruise back

      • Oh no wonder!
Thought that was strange how it was so cheap for 14 nights!

        • +2

Similar to this deal that occurred last year. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/186951

Still pretty cheap. I already booked another cruise for the same amount but only for 6 nights. Otherwise I would have booked this one.

        or, not come back…

The Repositioning cruises are often the best deals. They want to get to Asia, & you get a cheap ride there!
