Can you cancel your current subscription (or delete your account) and start again or does it have to be a totally new account with a new email address?

Is there a way to transfer playlists to a new account?

    Thanks!

    • find out and let us know.

    • +10

Need a new email address/account. To get your old playlists, log in to your new account, search for your old account (or get a link to one of your old playlists), and you can grab all the playlists off your old account's public profile.

      • I found I can only see 3 of my playlists from the old account, even though they're all public.

        • Is that from the main profile view? There should be a button that says "See all public playlists" above the few it shows. Otherwise, are your old playlists all made by you?

        • @pifts: Turns out it just takes a while, they became visible the next day

    • -1

Think you just have to manually add them again

    • +14

Don't be melodramatic. Just create a new account.

      • -8

If I wanted to make a new account, I would. Instead they'll lose a future customer.

        • +6

          Somebody call the wambulance

        • -2

@Benjamin7711: It's already on the way, thanks.

    • +15

I don't recall having premium before.

Guess this is what you get for supporting them since day 1 in Australia.

      wat

      • -7

Let me dumb it down for you. They have a product. They want as many users as possible. They make money from both free users and paid users. Hence using their product in any way constitutes supporting them, even more so when said product is first launched.

        • Are you sure they make money from free users? Could be a loss leader

        • @fredblogs: Well they have ads for free users.

Also when a product is first launched, you want as many users as possible to help with growth.

        • -2

          @ceribik:

They absolutely don't make money from free accounts.

        • @wizzfizz:

Yes they do. They make money from both free and premium tiers.

          Refer to this link

    • You were a free customer which makes you an old customer

  • Just cancelled my premium yesterday! After going on the Virgin 10gb data deal, I can now safely stream music without worrying about data, haha

    • Not that you'll have to worry, but for others without 10gig you can use your home/work Wi-Fi to save songs for offline listening

      • Yeah but I use Spotify when driving to work etc, which for me is a 2 hr round trip each day.

But yeah, nothing wrong with the free version, just that the ads cut thru at around 90% of the song just to annoy you to go premium.

        • Oh yeah, if you're not on premium you can't "download" the songs/albums.

Well, here's a good chance to go premium again!

        • Nothing wrong with free if you don't mind lesser audio quality. Not being able to download songs for higher quality on the road, nor being able to bump it up to high quality streaming at home (more important here with better speakers) is why I need premium.

Last I used it you still can't toggle higher quality in the desktop web client though - have to download the stand alone one or use the mobile app.

    • Do they refund you a partial month's worth?

      • +1

Nope, once you cancel you will run premium until the end of your billing cycle.

  • Perfect timing!

  • Bummer, I started the 30 day trial 2 weeks ago, and T&Cs state you can't take advantage of this deal if you already have a premium service, including free trial.

I could make a new account though with a different email

  • Anyone know if you can use the same credit card with a new account/email?

    • +4

      sure can

    • for some reason it didn't work with me last time there was this offer.

      • someone else told me you couldn't use the same card

  • +1

Shame I can't use my piles of Google Play money.

    • Idk what to use it on honestly. No good in app purchases :(

      • Books! Can be saved to pc

        • Which books? Trying to burn my telstra funny money haha

        • @cwongtech: The Invention of Hugo Cabret is an easy read, but unfortunately cannot be saved to PC - only to your device.

Plenty of expensive reference books there.

The Alchemist is pretty popular atm.

Heaps of manga around if that's your thing.

Otherwise, download Neko Atsume and buy heaps of cute toys for your virtual pets.

      • Movie rental

  • Thanks, just after my last $1 3 months expired :P

  • Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for. They had this special in December and was about to expire… was thinking of not renewing.. but now same offer again just in time!

    • -3

You're talking about saving $1 here.

      • +1

        Nope. It's $(11.99*3-1) savings ;)

        • -4

And what's the difference between those two?

          $1.

        • -1

          @Chachamaru7:

          $34.98? (It's $0.99 for 3 months, not $1).

      • +2

        Uhm.. 3 months x $11.99 is quite larger than $1 (actually $0.99)

What are you talking about $1 savings?!

  • +2

Should I pull the trigger now? Or should I wait since after the last deal, a few weeks later it's free

  • +3

I did one of these deals last year and have been paying the monthly fee ever since. I couldn't go back to the free version after using the full features. Damnit those guys suckered me right in.

    • +1

Same here, and that was after using rdio at like $1/month (another ozbargain special).
I think I might wait 3 weeks for my Spotify subscription to run out and then create a new account.

      • +2

Nothing wrong with paying for good service.

        • -1

True. But it's simply just too much for what it is. Also the app needs a fricken toggle to change the download location to a sad card on android

        • +3

@Hahuh: Under spotify settings, 3rd option from the bottom, allows you to select device or SD card

        • +1

          @sphinxy:
Yes its in the latest update

        • @tarken:

          Really guys?

          Thank you!

  • The OP has listed this as available until 31 March 2016. I can find any 'available until' date in the Ts&Cs - just says "… must be redeemed before the date advertised." Maybe I missed it somewhere. Can anyone confirm when the offer expires?

    • +1

31 March 2016 expiry date was mentioned in the email, I received.

      • Thanks for the info! Best deal for me is to subscribe Google Play Music until 31 March, then sign up for Spotify while waiting for any similar deal like this

      • Thanks for confirming. Cheers.

  • +1

when we cancel do we lose premium straight away, or does it last until the sub end date?

  • I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm only seeing 30 days, not 3 months??!!

    • Same here. Anyone else?

      • Same

    • +1

Fixed it. Logged into my new account and noticed the country was set to USA. This wasn't an option during login. Secondly, I opened up the link above in "incognito mode" (don't know if that affected it). At the payment page I selected Paypal and noticed it was still in USA ($9.99 plus tax). To the right of the credit card options and Paypal there were three dots (option drop down menu). I changed countries to OZ and then the 3 months deal popped up. Sweet. Hope you get it.

      • Thanks! Thought they were smart and realised I just created a new account because my old $1 90 days account just expired.

edit: Damn, new issue now. I agree to pay after logging into PayPal, and it just returns me to the exact same Spotify page asking me to pay. Tried in private tab and different browsers.

        Same problems - https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Accounts-and-Subscript…

  • i was using rdio philippines that was posted here but after they closed i used spotify philippines family 1+3 for almost $8/month(php 259). i created paypal.ph and spotify.ph account via vpn and just transfer monthly from my paypal.au to paypal.ph for payment.

  • Anyone having problem with paypal and credit card?

I keep going back to the "Start 3 months of Premium for $0.99" payment page even entering my correct paypal or credit card details.

    • yeah happened when I tried with paypal but credit card worked..

  • Ties in nicely for those of us having to find a new steaming service after the demise of JB Hifi Now. Going to miss that service.

  • +1

If you've used this deal before it appears that you need a new account (with a different email address) and a new credit card number. Paypal does not work. I tried setting up a new account today but I used the same card that I had used previously and it was rejected, although I was still charged the $0.99…

    • Gonna get the 99c back?

      • Not holding my breath but I have submitted a report ticket

    • DELETED

  • Or just download this and get Premium (almost) for free on Android

  • If you download songs to listen offline, what happens when you cancel Spotify? Do you lose the ability to play the downloaded songs offline?

    • yep

  • Comes up as 30 day free trial when I go to signup…? It seems to only let me pick USA as a country even with a new account. Has anyone made this work?
