    Already expired? That was quick

      • +6

Well my comment was made when this deal was marked as expired. That was only after 23 seconds of posting the deal.

      • +7

        Get rekt.

  • in stock
    expired

    What do you mean??

  • Lol

  • No 700mhz band 28, nothing to see here.

    • +2

NO china droid has band 28, why bother clicking the thread just to say that

      • +13

maybe incase people read 4G and think it has the same 4G coverage as other phones on the Australian market. Huawei zte gte and a few others are Chinese android phones that support band 28, they make some universal models in their product range so they have some models that ship globally rather than different models for different markets. same with Samsung and Apple have had a single international model for several years that supports band 28.

        • could always go voda

        • +1

          @skelty: surely you jest?

        • @Mechz: I'm on TPG. They're on Voda now, and it works just as good as when they were on Optus. Not sure about the 4G though. I'm only using a 3G handset. But if the 4G is as reliable as the 3G, I'd get this phone. I'm not though. I'm waiting for something else.

        • +2

@flaminglemon: Your 3G works well because everyone has moved on and saturated their 4G network.

        • @Mechz: Heh… Hooray for older phones!

    • +7

Still decent for $320, show me a phone with the same specs that comes with band 28.

    • I've been using my Redmi note 3 (AUD $290 delivered) in Sydney for about a month with no problems, so possibly nothing to see in concerns about this band.

  • +1
  • Is that USD OR AUD?

    edit sorry USD

  • +6

Add the tempered glass+silicone case option for free!

  • +2

Awesome phone. I have the previous release with lower specs and still love it.The new improvements would be great. Battery life is so much better than anything I have used before and I have no issues with coverage on a prepaid Telstra sim around Brisbane

  • Recently placed an order with geekbuying for the Note 3 Pro.
Chose the 2GB RAM / 16GB Storage for about $270 AUD after coupon.
With the addition of a micro SD card I felt the price premium for 3GB model was too much.
I know a micro SD card is inferior to on-board storage. All my other phones have had 1GB or less RAM.
Now I just have to wait.

    • +1

That was not PRO model. 3GB model is PRO.

      • +2

        Pro / Prime has the snapdragon 650 + 16MP rear camera - either 2 GB / 16 GB or 3 GB / 32GB
        Non-pro has MTK processor + 13MP rear camera - again either 2 GB / 16 GB or 3 GB / 32 GB

I agree - quite confusing when you consider all the possibilities incl colour choices that seem to have different prices.

I was considering a ASUS Zenfone (Taiwan) for band 28 4G but opted for Xiaomi (larger battery, finger print sensor)

Anyone use vickmall before? Are they trustworthy? Do they take ages to deliver?

    • +1

Used them to grab a lenovo. Really good & fast service

      • -1

How fast, 1-2 months and via CN/HK/SG post?

        • From my recollection it was about 2 weeks. I mean I was really impressed. Check the Lenovo K3 thread on Whirlpool ,people rave about the service from Vickmall.

        • -1

Impossible! Unless it's EMS or TOLL, otherwise it'll take months to arrive here AFAIK.

I bought a lot of stuff from China/HK in the past few years and not once they're able to deliver within 2 weeks via regular CN/HK/SG post.

    • +2

I used them before and they were good. Free shipping option took about 2 and a half weeks IIRC.

How is this compared to Elephone P9000 for USD$219.99 ???

    http://www.elephonemobile.com/products/elephone-p9000?varian…

    • wow that looks like a pretty sweet option. includes wireless charging, NFC and marshmallow 6.0

      • I'm interested in this phone, but elephone have made a complete pigs arse of its release. They went for a half baked crowd sourcing idea where you could pay $5 to get $50 off, then didn't release the phone before the coupon expired, then extended the offer but made it really difficult to actually exchange their coupon code for one that would work with a retailer.

This combined with the lack of any way to root it and not much chance of custom roms have removed it from my list.

        Pity, it looks good…..

  • +1

If you choose the "Multi-language Rom&Google play store installed" option will it still be necessary to remove malware/spyware?

    • From my experience, no. They install a fully stock miui.

      • Thanks, that's good to know. I'm looking for one of these phones that doesn't require any software modifications.

      • +2

From my experience vickmall didn't install any malware, but it can't be simply a "fully stock miui" if it comes with Google Play as this phone doesn't have an official global ROM available from xiaomi yet.

    • +1

I bought from Banggood and did a full refresh of mine. There was a bit of a bloatware on it. Bear in mind with this phone there is no official global ROM, so you're always going to be at risk. Somebody outside Xiaomi has been in the source code so you can never be sure. Mine works great, but if you're interested in total security, this is not the right phone.

  • Does the invoice include GST, so I can get TRS refund?

  • +1

How is the camera on this phone compared to say LG G4 or iphone 6s? I mentioned these two phones because i have seen photos taken from them. Thank you

  • -2

I need better camera. So, sorry Xiaomi.

    • +2

It's a really great 16MP module. It kicks anything else in it's price range's arse. So… Yeah.

  • Definitely recommend the phone. I bought an 'Aixuan' case on AliExpress for mine - highly recommended. The sandy texture gives a great tactile feel, and gives much more grip than just the metal back. It's quite a slippery phone without a case.

  • Awesome phone if you don't mind the lack of many 4G bands.

  • While this is a great deal on a great phone, the 'Indian' version of this phone just launched, which has global ROM and potentially, the correct bands for Aussie 4g enabled (though initial reports suggest that may not be the case). If a retailer that ships to Australia can be found (or a mail forwarder from Amazon India perhaps), it also has a lower MSRP and will be a better deal.

    • Interesting. Seems like missing b28 would be pretty annoying (as someone on the optus network).

      • You'll never know if you don't ask. Please let @Selinawang to answer this question.

    • Geekbuying has some not so good reviews online, has anyone used them here?

  • -3

Awesome phone if you don't mind the built-in backdoor from the Chinese goverment

    • Well its not like it hasn't got one for a certain agency either…..

  • Thinking of getting one of these

Can anyone recommend which case option and film or tempered glass to get ? I assume they install it there before sending ?

And is the $15 DHL shipping worth it ?

    • Can't speak to the glass or film, but from the whirlpool comments, the DHL shipping is very fast and worth it.

  • Hi guys, would you consider this phone over oneplus X?
I know oneplus x has smaller screen and battery but it will not miss the future update to android 6.0 and higher while this phone will only stuck to android 5.0 Lollipop as far as I know. Thoughts?

    • +1

This phone should get marshmallow. But its a bit like Samsung etc, the skin is so thick you don't notice its Android 5.x or 6.x. Its MIUI.

  • Code has expired. Any chance of a new offer (free or discounted DHL shipping?)

  • Just received mine from this deal. If you ordered one from here/this deal, please ensure on the box that you didn't get the "MTK Helio X10" version as I just did. This is the slower/inferior version (also with a PowerVR GPU), and not the Snapdragon 650 / Adreno 510 as promised in the ad!

I've sent Vickmall an email - I will update this post as I progress.

    • Vickmall have confirmed it was supplier error and are helping me get the correct model phone. Issue solved - thank you.

      • Dear omega36,
can you check your mail, and reply us?
        thanks.

  • Global ROM released for this! Check out redmi note 3 qualcomm global rom
    http://en.miui.com/download-301.html

  • -1

Just a heads up, I bought a phone from this deal and chose the "global" ROM. Reviews of his store had been positive so I trusted them, but it did come with malware installed, as well as a few other suspicious things (having issues booting to recovery mode, for example). There is a global rom now but because it comes with the bootloader locked I've spent all morning wading through forums trying to flash with no success — really not what I wanted to be doing with my time. Please be careful.

    • Hello,there
can you tell me which software is malware?and we also know there appear a global rom from xiaomi offical today,
      http://en.miui.com/download-301.html#438
but xiaomi lock the bootloader,so we also take all morning, also no success as you.no matter you choose original rom or multi-langauge rom,the bootloader all had locked by xiaomi.i wish we will find way to install the global rom soon, thanks.

      • Thanks for getting back to me Selina — I was able to sort it out with the official rom. I sent you guys an email with details about the malware.

  • +2

Hello, everyone,we find way to install Global ROM for redmi note 3 pro.
we will install this rom for Australian customers.if there have way to put screenshot here?

    • That's great! Thanks Selina. Your best bet for sharing a screenshot may be to upload it to imgur.com and paste the link here.

    • I am waiting for this too, I have tried flashing over the rom that came installed (Global rom 7.1.9.0.0) which is a custom rom, but keep getting errors on the flash tool. I am wondering how Vickmall managed to install it.

    • Hello vickmall, I bought this phone from you a few weeks ago. I elected the multi language ROM. This software is very unstable and crashes a lot(either that or there is a problem with the phone). Could you please send me instructions as to how I can install the global ROM. My Order #100028872. Thanks.

Or maybe post instructions for everyone.

      • +1

        Hello,there
i will ask about it ,and sent instructions to your email in 2 days.thanks.

        • Sorry order number is #100028235

        • +1

          @chicken lover:i had email to your 100028235 account,thanks.

      • +1

        Hi chicken lover,
I hope you've sorted this now, but just in case anyone was in the same boat as me I was able to flash the locked phone using this guide, it's quite detailed (although it's a bit of a process nonetheless): http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html

        • Thanks enantiogramme. I'm gonna give it a go this weekend and post some feedback on how I went. Cheers.

  • Price has dropped to 226 without the coupon. Grabbed one with DHL,hoping it comes on time
