You'll only get one 2000 point bonus per email that you (or your linked flybuys members) have received. You'll only receive the bonus when the appropriate member's flybuys number is quoted at the time of the card's purchase.

Irrespective of the bonuses offered from time to time, you can purchase as many cards as you wish.

        • @KaptnKaos: Cool. TKS

  • ? server error

  • Sorry if this has already been asked, but does this mean we can load $10 onto the card, withdraw the $10 from a coles ATM and get a "free" credit card number that you can use to sign up for trials without having to worry to cancel the trial on time?

    • +12

but does this mean we can load $10 onto the card, withdraw the $10 from a coles ATM

I haven't heard of an ATM here that dispenses $10 notes so go with a $20 load. Otherwise, stick with $10 and try a cash out at Coles or Woolies. If cashout doesn't work just top up another $10 online then go with the ATM withdrawal.

and get a "free" credit card number that you can use to sign up for trials without having to worry to cancel the trial on time?

      Correct

Also another benefit is getting freebies from Coles Express - some example past deals:

      • +1

thanks for the detailed explanation, time to sign up for more credit…. I mean prepaid cards!

        • +1

No problem. Also forgot to mention you might want to keep a small balance on your card if signing up for trials. I've signed up for a few trials where my card's been charged $1 but the funds are returned a few days later.

        • +1

          @JSQUARED:

One last question, does this count as a regular purchase if I load the initial amount using a credit card? It would really hurt if I get charged a cash advance fee for loading this card.

        • @glassyan: Most likely yes, someone from the previous deal was charged a cash advance fee. I think play it safe and go with a debit card.

    • Just set a reminder to cancel the subscription. Also most subscriptions allow you to cancel the recurring payment immediately and continue to use the trial.

    • false
to sign up for a trial the card must have a valid dollar amount available to test.

The subscription will try and take between 1c and $5 then refund it to test when your card is valid.

A card with $0 is not suitable for trials

    • Correct. Buy more reloadable card whilst the code is still working. Then again withdraw the money again. Especially when you have commitment to spend some amount for new credit card, such as Westpac low rate visa $500 a month, Virgin $5000 within 3 months, Nab Velocity $1500 within 3 months, etc

  • +1

Is there a cash advance fee when topping up from a credit card?

    • I've bought one you 'cannot' use a credit card to reload the card

You Must use a Bank Transfer or EFTPOS (Debit) card

can only be load online at this stage (not instore at coles)
I tested 2 plain ole credit cards and they fail

      Coles Reloadable MasterCard
      Current balance$10.00
      Max. top-up$990.00
      Card number
      Maximum card limit$1,000.00
Would you like to increase your limit?
      Choose top-up method
Direct deposit - Transfer funds to your card from your bank account

Debit card - You can use another company’s MasterCard or Visa debit card to top-up your Coles Reloadable

  • Damn, just bought the card on Friday claiming the bonus 2000 points. Unfortunately unable to claim another 2000 points

  • +1

how do you get the free 2000 bonus points?

    • that's a targeted offer iirc

  • Do you earn flybuy points if you purchase woolworths gift cards with these.

    • +1

      Yes.

  • +1

Can multiple cards be linked to same flybuys account?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • is it good for Tiger Airways fee free payments

    • +1

It should be. It's a debit MasterCard.

    • +1

Didn't work when I attempted this a week or two ago.

    • this and qantas cash dont work on tigerair booking fee

  • -1

So is this like the load and go card from post? and is there any hidden fees?

  • +1

    Haha, so many questions…

Just one more if anyone knows :)

Card Replacement Fee: $5.00 per replacement Card
After the card expires, do i pay the $5 to get a new card or it's free to get a new card?

    • +2

I'd say that you would have to buy a new card altogether. The card that you 'purchase' here would be valid until the date printed on the card itself. After that date, the card is obviously expired and you would therefore cease to be a Coles Reloadable MasterCard holder. Given that they won't renew the card, if you wanted to again hold a Coles Reloadable MasterCard you would have to purchase a new card, and pay the purchase fee then effective, which may or may not be another free offer.

  • -1

"MasterCard’s Zero Liability Policy means you’re not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions made using your card (as long as you notified us promptly and did not contribute to the loss)…"

Um, I can't tell a lie, I lost the card, did I contribute to the loss?

    LOL.

  • Hi just wondering, how do we receive the card? Is it posted to you?

Also what are the ID check requirements?

    • Yes, posted to you.

No ID check required unless you want to raise the limits of the card. All details on the site.

  • Looks like its been Ozbargained already

There was a problem serving the requested page
We're experiencing an internal server problem. Please try again later or contact Help

    • Yep wont go through

  • How do I get on their mailing list to get the targeted email? I have car insurance and flybuys with them but no email for me

  • Can you buy this instore without having to put your name to it?

    • +1

If this is anything like the Woolies Reloadable Mastercard (which incidentally they stopped offering a few months ago…) you need to fill in form and show ID if they offer it in store, which i vaguely remember seeing as an option on a brochure @ Coles a while back (memory is hazy) - they had brochures but not yet offering the card in store at that time.

    • +1

Just checked. Seems in store brochures show three types.virtual.reloadable and gift.only gift one seems available in store.and only in set amounts ie 50 100.

  • payment failed!

  • If I see a message about getting 2000 points on spend at Coles, does that mean my Flybuys was part of the targeted offer? (I don't receive their emails)

EDIT: also, the site is crashing while trying to verify the Flybuys number now.

    • You need to receive the email to be invited and apply through the link in the email.Search through your flybuys emails and you might have it weeks ago like me.

  • Any fees on this card??

    • +1

"Card Replacement Fee: $5.00 per replacement Card and $5.00 per upgrade.
Call Centre Fee: $4.00 per call
Balance Check Fee: $0.50 per call
Currency Conversion Fee: 3% of the total amount
Card Closure Fee: The amount of your remaining Available Balance
ATM Operator Fee: As quoted by the ATM"

  • I really dont see the point of this card, why not just get a Visa Debit Card form the Bank for free

    • +3

Cause its not directly linked to your bank account —- as others have mentioned very useful having alternative card for free trials etc (avoid getting charged $$$ if you forget to cancel trials etc)

  • Anyone already got this card?
Regarding to this term : "Simply redeem 2,000 flybuys points at the checkout to instantly take $10 off your Coles Supermarket shop"

Does it mean it will trigger all your family flybuys card to get the instant $10 off rather than login to flybuys account and redeem $10 with 2000 points?

    • I think when you use the card at Coles and you have a minimum of 2000 points in the account, it will automatically deduct the points when you spend $10. This is a feature that I don't want to have. Anyone knows how to turn off the feature ?

      • +1

it's ok. the feature shouldn't be turned on by default, and even if it is each time you are at Coles it should prompt you if you want to take it off your shop. can definitely be turned off on your flybys account, you just have to log in and its a big red switch on the top left from memory, HTH!

        • I know there is a switch for flybuys account, but unsure àbout this prepaid card. Are you sure ?

        • @yht:

where is the switch in flybuys? i thought you can activate in coles "credit card". but not if you only have flybuys

        • @uccoffee:There is a switch on top right hand corner of the page when you login to your flybuys account

        • @yht:

just tried, only says "flybuys Dollars can only be redeemed in increments of $10"
there's no button to change auto redeem.

  • Only just realised this point "Card Replacement Fee: $5.00 per replacement Card and $5.00 per upgrade."

What is the upgrade mentioned ?

    • I think that's for people going from the non-reloadable —> reloadable.

  • Thanks OP.

Just signed up and this is my first coles prepaid mastercard :)

  • So I purchased it and put $10 on it.
    What now?

Do I have to wait to receive the card to be able to log on and check balance?
When I tried it asked for a password. No where, yet, has it asked me to create a password.

    • Wait until you get the card, then you will also get info on how to activate it and create a login.

  • Is there an ATM fee charged for checking balances? Just wondering if I can use this card at Coles Express stations.

    • Nope

      • No as in no charge or no I cannot use this card at Coles Express?

        • No charges for balance checks

  • Phew, my 2000 points targetted email runs out today so great timing, thanks!

    • +1

Edited:Actually,I searched through my emails and found the bonus 2000 Flybuys points email(on 23nd,Feb) for this card and it says offer ends today. So I applied for it immediately through the link in the email.

Search through your previous flybuys emails and you might have it weeks ago, guys!

  • I'm confused. This post says the card is $0 but when I go to the deal it says $10. Also what happens if I don't yet have flybuys ?

    • +1

Have you put the code in ?

  • So can it be used for uber?

  • dam…didnt realise the bonus point expired today..

    • dam i did and used the wrong flybuys card yesterday..doh!!

      • Rang up and complained and still got the 2000 points…:)

  • I cant see anywhere to enter the promo code?

    • +1

      Page that you pay

      • Cheers, work proxy was filtering it out.

        Interesting.. AMEX is not accepted

and also just realised this is a very easy way to convert credit to cash while accumulating credit card points…

        • Wouldn't that be treated as a cash advance? Usually that would mean no points and fee too.

        • @griffy:
At least for me (Westpac CC) the initial top up didn't get treated as a cash advance, although I only put $10. Given CC is the only payment accepted I can't imagine that there would've been any difference between $10 and $100.

        • @griffy:
I thought I read earlier that this is a load and go type card (so you could withdraw your balance as cash from a checkout to avoid ATM fee). Maybe not?

        • +1

          @tunzafun001:

          https://financialservices.coles.com.au/prepaid-cards/coles-r…

Your Coles Reloadable MasterCard can be used at any ATM that accepts MasterCard or Cirrus in Australia3

3 Cash withdrawal limits may apply.

So yes, you can use it to withdraw cash. No mention of fees.

  • I am trying to buy one of these online using my auspost load and go card, I have the funds but keeps saying failed, anybody have any idea why?

  • Any ideas on something good to spend the $10 on? I want to use it all up before using it on a free trial.

    • +1

Walk into Coles and buy, like, literally anything?

Or check out the OzBargain threads for the weekly half price specials? It's only limited by your imagination!

      • _>

That's a good idea. Dunno why but I was thinking of online stuff only. haha

  • Anyone is able to activate the card online ? The link is not working under Activate button

  • Is anybody able to confirm if this still works with paypal? I know it can't be confirmed because the verification deposits are under $10 but can it still be attached and used as unverified?

    • Yes you should be able to.

      • This does not work with paypal unfortunately, not able to receive the confirmation deposits since they are under $10 so card is automatically removed fron paypal when deposits are rejected by the card

        • Yes it does, you need to link it as a debit card rather than as a bank account.

    • why would you used it as unverified?

  • +2

I'm confused: why this one gets upvoted so much? For paywave isn't ING Direct's 2% rebate sounds better; For spending online and getting flyer points, Velocity Global Wallet / Qantas Cash are doing the same thing. Or does this one convert to more flyer points?

I am using Velocity Global Wallet at the moment because it produces "Virtual VISA card" that I can use to shop online and delete later. So if all other things equal I'll prefer keep using it.

    • +1

Hey can you please explain more how the virtual visa card works. I saw that option in global wallet. So do u set the required limit on that card. Is there any fee on creating a virtual card. If it's use abd delete that's awesome. I may not need to buy more Coles prepaid for catch of the day :)

      • +2

It's free. You login by mobile app or website, and create a Virtual Card. Its expiration date is a bit closer than your real card, and it's free of charge, with fine print that says "use this card on the Internet only". The card doesn't have its own balance. When you pay anything with this card, your main (physical) card's balance gets affected. You don't set a limit on it, instead, the idea is when you used it, delete it and create a new one. Whoever got your old card's number can't charge you.

        • Thanks. That's quite helpful. The only issue is I saw in the app is you can create a max of 10 cards only. So will need to be careful deleting cards

    • I think the benefit is that with the "SAVE10" offer there's no fee to load the card initially?

    • +1

think of it this way: you load this card with velocity global wallet or qantas cash card. you'd still get the miles from those two cards and flybuys when you spend the money with this card. one stone, two birds.

      • Good idea!

      • Does it work? Not only Velocity Global Wallet's FAQ says no (no points for "quasi-transfer"), but also it would create a loop hole: store $1000 to Coles prepard mastercard, withdraw them all (free of charge in Coles ATMs), deposite the cash into a bank account (e.g. ING Direct), transfer back to Velocity Global Wallet and earn 500 points. Repeat this until you get a flight to Los Vegas for free, where you can earn a profit from their games. It would be too easy and they would have closed the loop hole.
