    Cheers. Needed a few more

edit: just got 2. might get one more

    • +3

What do you use them for?

      • +24

        club catch trials lol

        • So you get the free MasterCard and put nothing on it?

Edit: I guess not. Initial minimum load value is $10.

You could put $10 on it, spend that $10 wherever you like then use it to sign up to trials.

        • +1

Why not ask bank for replacement cards of transaction accounts, there is no charge to change bank card!

        • +6

          @fanny:

Why not have a few prepaid cards on standby?

If you change your credit card number, then you have to update all direct debt payments with the new card which can be annoying when you have over 10 direct debits already.

          This is an easier way

        • +2

@sween64: why not put $10 in the first card, and use that $10 to put in the second card and so on and on

Each time you spend $10 on your card that will earn you 2000 point = $10

          @mamsong:

Actually that's a cool idea. Can you do that? Has anyone tried?

        • +3

          @iPwnJ00:

No, just try with the card obtain a while ago.

At the confirm stage Coles finance said payment fail even though my balance is still $10.

Somehow Coles financial control is smater than Woolies (sorry if offend anyone)

  • +1

Thanks! To those who have this, can this card be overdrawn with a $0 balance?

Eg: if I sign up with presto, use this card to get a free month and forget to cancel the subscription, will there be an overdraw fee or affect my credit rating?

Question:Does Coles ATM charge this card any fee for balance enquiry?

    • +1

Should be free to withdraw from Coles ATM and do balance enquiries.

      • +1

Thanks for pointing out.Actually,I had a similar comment in that deal and nobody answered so that I forgot about it.

      • Withdraw? Surely you can't withdraw from this?

        • yes you can

        • @hal9000: No cash advance fee on cash withdrawl?

If so, load up using a credit Card that earns points, withdraw cash, pay off credit card…repeat!

Check the rewards earning credit card doesn't charge a cash advance fee first

        • @tunzafun001:

But is loading from my NAB Credit Card

Is a payment from my NAB card to a Prepaid card classified by NAB as a cash advance?

Normally If you pay another Credit Card say CBA with your NAB card it is a cash advance with no interest free by NAB (same with any card provider not putting NAB just example)

If adding funds to Coles card is classified as a normal purchase , that would be great way to get points and leverage interest free deals and % cash back deals, while getting flybuys points

        • @carlb: was the first loading/purchase? i don't think they will let you load from a credit card again.

        • +1

          @tunzafun001:
I've bought one and after the time wasters you 'cannot' use a credit card to reload the card

You Must use a Bank Transfer or EFTPOS (Debit) card

No Visa or Mastercard Credit type accounts

Obviously the card will still have its place in my CC reoccurring bills like Subscriptions and Gym
but not replace interest free card

        • @carlb: Cheers.. So what's the max you can load on "initial purchase"?

        • +1

          @tunzafun001:

initially $10 I tried more but an
"alert says $10 max you may add upto $1000 later"
the latter is obviously by cash or debit only

Yes you can take cash out at ATMs though

You can withdraw at any Westpac ATMs, no fee

    • So Coles Express balance check freebies are doable?

  • Is there a way of getting two cards like to one account like most travel cards?

  • Thanks OP. Signed up so I can get the 2000 flybuys points. It might we worth adding to the description that you need to top up at least $10 on signup.

  • What are the advantages of this over a debit or credit card with a bank?

        • +1

@KaptnKaos: are you saying children have spouses?

      • Initial minimum load value is $10. I don't think it's worth my hassle.

    • +4

Or say…a train. Which I could also afford.

  • Arghh… Just ordered one for my wife on Sunday. Feeling disgusted..

    • Is her birthday coming up?

      • +1

No.. Just don't want her to use my credit card for online shopping :)

  • +4

    Great deal
I have about 10 relatives on mine bought these for their kids from last time I posted the bargain.

We load $100 once a month.
    It has gone well

I personally have no kids but a little brother of 12yrs, trialled it on him and it worked very well. He even saved half of the money for this month.

Better then cash and he can also buy stuff from online rsther than asking me put my paypal password evertime

  • Main disadvantages?

    • +1

the card issuer has kinda bad rep

      • -1

GE Money? I thought they were well regarded.. especially here on Ozbargain

        • +3

not ge for this card. it's indue, as per this comment: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/231320?page=1#comment-3402…

it is classified as fraudulent merchant by some banks.

        • How is Indue Ltd related to GE Money?

        • Indue, I had really bad experience with them. They deactivated my card and were very rude to me. Personally, I am not going to use this card ever again, so risky the card getting deactivated with funds on it.

          @divious:

Did you go to the FSO?

        • @KaptnKaos:

They are not a member of FSO, you cannot do anything. Fortunately, I could manage to withdraw all the money and chopped the card up.

        • @divious:

          That's a shame :( not making a good reputation of themselves…

BTW, non-FOS members are likely a member of CIO. From what I understand, entities holding an AFSL must be registered with at least one dispute resolution scheme.

        • @KaptnKaos: it's not.

  • Can top up with cash at Coles supermarket?
The FAQ say you cannot, is it true?

      True.

      • Why this man say he can reload with cash?

          From OP's link:

          Top up again and again

Use your own money to top up your card again and again with no ongoing monthly or load fees. You can top up your card online or by direct transfer from your bank account. A $10 top up minimum applies.

          I know what I'd believe.

        • @KaptnKaos:

so those are the only ways to top up?

          no Bank@AustPost convenience?

        • +1

          @CVonC:

Unfortunately there's no access via Auspost.

        • @KaptnKaos:

          From the t&c

          Purchasing a Top-up Voucher
You may be able to load value onto your Card by purchasing a Top-up Voucher from one of selected Coles stores. Once you’ve purchased your Top-up Voucher, please login to the Prepaid Service Centre and follow the prompts to “Load” or “Top-Up” using a Top-Up Voucher. If successful, we’ll immediately add the value of the Top-Up Voucher to your Available Balance.

I have never seen a top up voucher in Coles. Perhaps they have them at the service desk

        • @heal: couldn't find the option to use the voucher in account panel.

  • Is this better than Australia Post's Load and Go?

    • Load and Go

      Isn't that for pensioners?

    • +8

L&G is better, it is truly anonymous

      • but there's a $6.95 outlay?

      • But dont you need to put a name and address when you apply and prove your details like show a license and if you use a false one what happens if you lose the card.

  • +3

This card not good for anonymous, it is linked to your real credit card and home address!

    • +4

yeah i can't pay and send a glitter bomb to my enemies.

  • Anyone know if this would work for a new uber account?

    • +6

All you need is a new phone number, previous credit cards can be used.

      • +3

You also need a different device. From my experience you may create a new account but uber blocks promotions on every third phone number per IP address.

Edit:Two accounts per IP address then third account with blocked promotions
So your essentially wasting a perfectly good phone number by even trying…

        Edit2:Disposable Australian number service hushed
        Hushed Review

        • IP address isn't dependent on the device. It is set by the ISP…

        • @sween64:
I'm pretty sure you almost never have a static IP address unless you choose to do so. Yes your ISP provides an IP address but they have to purchase it from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority?
You may also use a Virtual Private Network to change your IP address.
Plus your IP address Isn't determined by ISP from my short reading…

Your router will be given it's own IP address (for example 192.168.0.1) the other computer(s) will connect to, this is known as the default gateway. It will also have a subnet class (normally 255.255.255.0).
Each computer has it's own unique IP either generated off that (for example 192.168.0.102, 192.168.0.103, etc) or are manually added. If these aren't different you will have issues when both computers connect at the same time. The same subnet class is needed to join the network.

          Interesting read…

        • @0p:

That's the IP address as seen from the local network.

The IP WAN address is set by the ISP. My cable home internet external IP has not changed for 3 years.

My external IP on my phone when connected to via mobile data will change dependent on which SIM is inside (ie Optus or Telstra etc).

The Router connects to the internet and gets it's own unique IP address for online access. Internet sites such as whatismyipaddress.com can automatically detect my IP address when accessed through the Web browser.

That's the external IP aka Public IP.

        • @sween64:
          Alright man you win!
          Take all my envelopes

        • @0p:

Disregarding IP nomenclature. What's the best way to create new uber accounts to continuously use new customer promo codes?

        • @sween64:
In your phone go into the Settings of Android or iPhone
and under storage delete all the settings for uBer app
Then when you open uber again, you will be asked to set it up with your new details

        • @carlb: What details do you have to change? Phone number? Email? Credit card?

        • +1

          @sween64:
You cant register with the same email twice.

It didn't complain when i cleared my phones Uber and created uber in my wifes email and continued to use my credit card and mobile number.

        • @carlb: Did you successfully use a new customer promo code?

        • @sween64:
at the time in January it was
refer a friend both get $10 ride credit

so we both got that twice
but haven't bothered to do anymore since the ride isn't very expensive to bother

        • @carlb: I prefer that $20 or $30 off codes. Makes my $45 trip home from the city very reasonable. Thanks for the tips.

    • It doesn't.

  • +1

can you purchase 2 card linked to one flybuys account ? to get double the reward?
