About $10, depending on how you choose to spend them (more on flights, especially business class, less on gift vouchers).

Austpost is a notorious seller of emails in my book.

    • +6

You have a book on the notorious selling of emails? Sounds like a dull read.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1 for speed. Must have been up within minutes of receiving the email.

1000 Velocity points is good but my my, the digital post Box has got to be the most useless thing Australia Post has come up with so far.
Cannot see the point of it.
+1 Tafe avatar for having young, handsome Bruce before he got all 70's-ed out.

      An organisation crying for relevancy…

      • +2

Agreed. They are so out of touch with what modern consumers want. Their future is in parcel delivery for online shopping, not people being sent bills through their portal.

      • Which organisation? Tafe or Ozpost?

The answer doesn't matter… both are fighting to win the gold irrelevancy award!

    • +2

The point is for free velocity points.

I wouldn't mind a Digital Mailbox if it was actually a Digital Mailbox. I would be happy for all my letters to be routed to AusPost. They scan them in and upload them to my mailbox and I read them there. That way you would only ever receive useful to deliveries to home - parcels and cheques!

    • +2

Though I haven't actually received a paper cheque in some time..

  • +1

While you are there go to <USERNAME - top right corner> -> Settings -> Rewards

and add your Velocity number there…

yep, only makes sense if you are paying stuff through MyPost

  • +2

Easy 1000 points. Also signed my wife up and with family pooling, that makes for an easy 2000 points. Actually considering using the my post thing to pay my phone bill. You get 50 velocity points for each bill you pay at $50 or higher. May as well use my credit card on it to pay Telstra, get points from the transaction itself and then points again from Aus Post.

Edit: Actually could you use this mailbox to get around providers that don't accept amex? How does paying a bill through it actually work? Some city councils don't accept amex, this could be a good way to use your card. Unless it just gets the bills sent there but you still use your providers payment portal?

    • You get 50 velocity points per bill above $50? I didn't realise that. I have 10 bills to pay right now! Cheers!

      • +1

Yep that's the whole point of the actual hookup with velocity. As long as your provider is in there, may as well start paying bills through it and get the extra points for nothing. Even if the actual mailbox is pretty much pointless.

        • Do you incur the standard credit-card fees that councils levy on you? Or is MyPost a way around it?

        • +1

@cyssero: just paid my first bill through it for Telstra. Don't think it's a way to get around anything unfortunately. It only accepts the payment options from your supplier and I believe it charges the same fees. Seems it's just an interface really. But yeh may as well pay your bills through it and get the extra 50 velocity points per bill.

        • +1

@dwhes: Thanks, have linked the accounts and will see how it goes!

        • @cyssero: Post Billpay is the payment gateway to avoid American Express credit card fees: http://auspost.com.au/money-insurance/postbillpay.html

    • +1

I recall a post where user was able to pay bills through Aus Post with Amex (via PayPal) and not incur any additional fees which is often the case; and pick up a few extra points.

      • Good tip, thanks.

Just as a vague comparison, you can get a $20 Target or Westfield gift card for 4500 points and a $50 one for 9000.

Probably can't afford their own stamps @ $1 per letter x 25 million people after their brilliant reform that made the previous standard service cost $1.50 up from 70c and the introduced their super "extra-slow" service, a bargain at a mere $1. You have to post on a Monday for any hope of the letter getting there the same week.
Australia Post, on the move with modern times "Now twice as slow at twice the price" but hey…lets distract you with some bullshit…. : Look over here, tinsel!

This guy is a real cnut (that's coconut like our Ozbaragin member of the same name) Fortunately I am dyslexic.

      $4.8 million a year to this d1ckhead http://www.smh.com.au/good-weekend/ahmed-fahour-delivering-t…
That's $92,307 a week or $18,461 per business day OR $2307 per hour (8 hour day)
And THIS is what he comes up with! What a cnut.

      • See you next Tuesday Australia post

a lot of providers charge $1.50 or $2 if we pay our statement using Auspost so becareful of that trap. Look the fineprint on your bill.

  • +5

The only reason I have this mailbox is to receive all these offers!

  • +2

I noticed that the ATO is i the list of providers, does that mean that you can pay ato tax bill with credit card and recieve points and not get charged cc surcharge?

    • However, if you DON'T pay your tax bill you WILL get charged…

  • Do I still get a paper statement as well with Velocity now I joined this?

  • Think this is only if you haven't already linked your account.

    • Right, there was a same deal last year.If you have done it,you will not be eligible again. One time offer, though.

      • +1

That was for signing up to the Digital Mailbox.

This is for adding Velocity as a provider to your Digital Mailbox.

  • Anyone use this to pay bills before ? Is there any charge from Australia Post to pay via them ? There is Westpac there, is that mean if my credit card statement delivered to the digital mail box and I setup payment, I can pay via Auspost ? Any charge for the service ? OR Westpac will charge me instead ?

  • Is it only if you have not add velocity number to your account before ?

    • Looks like it. I have added it before to get points and then removed it after the points were issued. I've received confirmation emails that linking it up again has worked but no points have arrived in a couple of days now

  • I'm a bit confused by 'profile section of your MyPost Digital Mailbox'. Do they just mean the Rewards section? I couldn't see anything else…

    • I was confused by that too, yeah they mean the Rewards section…go to 'username' in the top right corner, then 'Settings' and 'Rewards'. Click on the Velocity square and enter your velocity number

  • Actually I wanted to redirect the bill from council to MyPost, but been waiting for the promotion like this to get it connected. I will connect one provider each time they have 2000 points promotion.

  • Drone deliveries plz

You have to make sure that you're not unsubscribed from velocity emails in your velocity account, this causes it to fail.
I got a failure email from mypost today, I tried to set it up yesterday.
I changed my velocity subscriptions, and resubmitted. Hopefully it goes through this time.

Received my points today. Quick and painless. 2000 thanks to family pooling!

    • Same here.Got the points!Thanks,OP!

    • Same. Received on 17th.

  • Still have not received the points since 10 days ago. Anybody still waiting for points ?

    • Am waiting for mine too. Provider connection still showing as pending on the app.

    • Haven't got mine

      • Haven't got em either

        • Same here.. still pending

    • Have you received yours yet @yht? Mine still showing as pending.

As today was the last day, not sure if those who get theirs connected from tomorrow still get the 1000 points.

      • Nope

        • Yep still is showing as pending,.

    • Just received emails from Auspost confirming that I have successfully added a provider (Velocity) to my digital mailbox. At the same also received an email from Velocity confirming my membership profile has been updated to receive statement via AP's digital mailbox.

No mention anywhere in those emails about the 1000 points.

      • same here.
Still received no points as at today.

        • Mine still show as pending… :(

        • @DaTa: In this situation, where it's only successfully added after 31 Mar, are we still eligible to receive the 1000 points?

        • @LLdreamer:

Not sure I added it after I got the email so it isnt really our fault that we do not get 1000 points.

        • Same here. Received my 1000 points yesterday.

      • Just checked my Velocity account and saw the 1000 points credited.

  • if i link my gov to pay the ato ie bas etc will i get points?

    • +2

ato will take away all your points

  • Called them up and realized why I didn't get the points. I had only read the description of the post and neglected to click on the deal link to read the more detailed steps. Turns out I had just registered my Velocity membership number within the profile details of your MyPost Digital Mailbox and made sure my first name and last were the same as velocity account. However I did not go under provider section to click on velocity so this crucial last step was needed

Anyway I was upset that all the effort and time wasted for nothing in the end I didn't get any points and told them to delete my Mypostaccount which was next to useless anyway. Hope everyone else got theirs

  • Finally linked on 14/4 but yet to see the 1000 points in my velocity account. Anyone still waiting for theirs?
