    Dick Smith AA Alkaline Battery

Do they still have the Acidic Batteries ?

    • What difference does it make if they do or dont?

      • Alkalines are Basic.

        • And? what is your point?

        • @Duff5000:
It doesn't have one. Just seeking attention.

        • @nickxau:

I guess the comment is not meant for you then… Lol

        • @jv:

Is there some joke we are missing here?

Heavy duty batteries are acidic, alkaline batteries are not. Both are common. Your point is…..?

Is there some joke we are missing here?

That's subjective… Read the comment below about leaks…

        • @jv:

Comments that were not there when you asked if they still sell "acid batteries".

Comments that were not there when you asked

So you've never read a post about Dick Smith's generic batteries before ?

        • @jv:

          Alkalines are Basic.

You still havent explained what your point is….

Apparently you were trying to be funny but forgot to insert humour.

Apparently you were trying to be funny

That's not apparent to me, maybe it is to you.

Regardless of what was said before, you're not answering Duff5000 but trying to change your comment now.

        • @nickxau:

          you're not answering Duff5000

          I already have…

          Next question….

        • @jv:
          Have you? Where?

"Do they still have the Acidic Batteries ?"
          "Alkalines are Basic"

Once again, what is your point?

Did you not realise that batteries can be alkaline or acid and now you just don't want to admit your mistake?

These are crap. The last 40 pack i had of these some of the batteries ended up leaked a heap of acid into the package and all over the batteries. Ended up straight in the bin. These batteries are prone to acid leakage which would probably destroy the device it's in.

Just read the customer review comments about the battery acid leaks. Bad batteries i tell you don't waste your money.

Tho, try not to just trow those batteries into bin. There is a better place for me to avoid environment damage. No offensive

      • Well where do you dispose of them if not in the bin?.

        • I understand your problem and at the moment my only way for disposing them is at UTS where they recycle battery (I am still a student there). Sorry I understand this comment might not help much just trying to warn ppl to not just through them in bin

ended up leaked a heap of acid

they must be different ones, read the title, these are alkaline

      • Well any way it leaked badly. Leakage isn't good.

  • Me battery good.

I bought some of these a while ago, and while they may be Alkaline batteries, they are about as reliable & useful as the old Eveready Blue (General Purpose) batteries.

    • +1

Yes as i said they are crap batteries. And as i said they are even prone to acid leaks. These are the silver coloured batteries that i'm talking about. I don't know which company manufactured them but it's poor quality.

  • +4

Be warned, the current silver/white version of these suck. The Gold ones that used to be sold were great as they were just rebadged GP Alkalines, but since they changed supplier they've apparently been known to leak and to not be as effective or long lasting as most other alkaline batteries.

Also, there are literally tens of thousands of packs of these still to be cleared. They'll get cheaper for sure.

  • +1

While cheap I think I'll draw the line at damaging (had this happen and its very annoying) and leave these to others with bigger risk appetite and cheaper/more disposable devices, thanks.

  • These aren't eneloop wth

But, i thought you all have enough Eneloops??

You should save and care about the environment..

I have recently had dreadful experiences with these batteries. They don't last very long, and then they leak acid like powder. After trying a few of them, I ended up throwing the rest out unused (office works battery recycling bin).

  • I bought a 40 pack in December. They run low very quickly.

  • I had these from a sales ages ago I actually like them. The power is good I only use them in low power devices like my weather station but they still last as long as duracells.
But after buying a new 40 pack of AAA I did notice like a lip or bump in the bottom of the battery that was not there in the older ones. I am not sure if damaged or new design? It is on the batteries they could be using reject batteries from other companies?

    • Are they the silver/white batteries?.

The gold colour DS Exxtra Plus AA batteries were the best. I've got a few in a TV remote control. The silver/white colour batteries, not so good.

You can still buy the DS Exxtra Plus Alkaline (Gold colour) AA and AAA batteries. AA in 6 pack is $1.49 (70% off) http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/dick-smith-aa-alkaline… but they are guaranteed to be a heck of a lot better than the crappy silver/white batteries. As been commented before in this thread they are rebadged GP alkaline batteries.

      • Mine are the silver and white.
I will buy some gold ones and try them.
I used the silver ones in some torches I have I got constant output of 100 lumen for 45 mins then they steadily dropped but the torch was still working 2 hours later that is from a single Aaa.
I think the tailcap was like.
        .170 milliamp

  • This would be a good buy for battery collectors
