  • Thank you.

    • will Cashrewards be doing the $10 cash back with telstra any time soon?

      • All I got from Cashrewards was $1.20… Even though they said $10 cash back.

Merged from Telstra $30 SIM Starter Kits $5 (after $10 Cashback) @ PricePal

Looks like we can potentially get the $30 Telstra SIM Starter packs again for $5 after the Pricepal $10 cashback (if it works). Looks like some people have had issues getting this in the past so YMMV. I just joined Pricepal just before to take advantage of this.

    1. Register/Sign in with Pricepal
    2. Click here to view the $10 cashback from Pricepal
    3. Click on the "Shop Here & get $10.00 Cashback" which will redirect you to the Telstra $30 starter SIM page
    4. Purchase as normal
    5. Cross fingers and toes in hopes you'll get your $10 cashback from Pricepal so the SIM will cost $5

Credits to McBanny's first post and neil's comment.

I thought this deserved a post of its own but feel free to merge if needed.

Let's hope we don't get too many outages with Telstra

    • Assuming it tracks correctly it does come thru eventually. With CR I find I have to chase them up after a few months to get them to approve the transaction which is a bit of a hassle.

    Vodafone - $10
    Amaysim - $10
Optus - $10 (if you can get it)
Failstra - $10 (subject to network availability)

  • Is the $10 pricepal cashback only available for one sim kit purchase per account?

    • +3

not usually, but telstra has been known not to send them and also not to refund you and just steal your money.

    • It would be wise to not buy more than 2, they usually flag your account if you buy too much. Force you to verify your id at a Telstra shop. Have to go through hoops.

  • +1

been buying & using Telstra prepaid such this for data and found its quota charged rather hefty, 3GB data quota with telstra only last a week or less compare to others (using similar usage pattern).. i will stick with Amaysim for now..

  • How quick is PricePal with the cash back? It's been almost 4 months since I got it with Cashrewards and it's still pending.

    • Did you activate the sim card yet? Mines been paid.

      • Activated and used already

    • Pricepal is about the same.

    • Chase them up, use the contact us now button for transaction enquiry, attach receipts

  • Using one of these would you get the free day on April 3?

    • Yes. A $2 SIM will also work.

  • Just tried to order two of them via PricePal. Let's see if I can get the discount or not.

  • Testra doesn't have free calls and text for $30..

  • You will not be able to port your number until normal bussiness day

Don't do it - last time I bought these from the telstra online shop they cancelled the order (no reason, just because - it happened to lots of us too) and it took me 5 months and 2 letters to the tio to get my money back. I could not believe there was any issue at all, they are literally the most useless company I have ever dealt with. They are on sale often enough in stores, wait until then

    • I agree - I am staying away from Telstra online stores. Wasted way too much time getting refunds for purchases that never gets delivered.

  • do these expire?

    • yes

      • how long do they usually last?

        • usually at least 1 year, mostly 18 months to 2 years

  • the prepaid sim cards I brought from last year is enough for me to use for further 2 more years.

  • Am I right in saying I could get this starter pack, then put $20 on it to get the $50 total annual pass recharge? ie total cost for that from scratch actually $35?

    • No, you can't add value to a starter pack in that way.

  • So can I do this and then use it in the google play store?

    • Yes. See the wiki for more information.

$10 at HN, no wishing and hoping for cashback.

    • I managed to get 2 from HN but stocks are often low or out.

      • Do a officeworks pricematch

        • I just tried this at officeworks and was told no???
Very disappointed as it's an identical product and there was stock at a Harvey Norman that's across town.

        • @TwoDolla: I have before, not sure what reason?

        • no reason given only that they couldn't. They were pretty rude about it too and brushed me off after saying no.

        • @TwoDolla: totally against their policy. I would complain.

        • @The Land of Smeg: yep. Submitted a feedback/complaint on their site. Guess we'll see what happens.

        • Tried that but OW also runs out!

    • Tablets only.
Was hoping a $10 mobile starter pack straight up

  • How much data do starter packs normally have?

  • Why is pricepal listing the following on the telstra page?
    Cashback rates by Membership Level
    FOUNDER $10.00

Do you need to be a "Founder" level member to receive this cashback??

    • If you log out it shows all levels.
Login and I suspect it shows you the level your on.
A while back, I think I remember PricePal made OzBargainers Founder upon request.
      Not sure though.

      • Ahh I forgot about that deal, I did apply for founder! Doh!

  • I just signed up with telstra today. Ported from Amaysim. Didn't know this plan was available until just now. Am I too late? What should I do? I chose $30 freedom plus.

    • Optus sim is also on sale @target and post office.

I'm not expert on this buy this is some info I have gathered.

If you are the kind of person port between providers for this kind of deal then you can get the Optus one and this one so you can port out to Optus after 30days then port back in after another 30.

Alternately I think some people simply buy the $2 sim instead for porting out and in.

      • +1

Yep, this is what I've started doing. I bought a bunch of cheap packs from Telstra, Vodafone, Optus, Amaysim etc. At the end of the month port from one to the next. Doesn't take long. Just make sure you change network (e.g. don't go Amaysim—>Optus), as that generally takes much longer.

Alternatively you can get a $2 SIM from another network, then port out and in. So you would go (for example) Optus—>Telstra—>Optus on the same day. Then you can stay on the same network, but it's a little more hassle.

  • Can you use this for play music subscription?

    • yes you can, see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/240703
for things you can use Telstra credit on.

Also on newer Telstra activations I have read some issues regarding Carrier Billing not being enabled.
In that case I read you can contact telstra and ask them to enable it.

  • Managed to score 1 sim, was hoping for a few more.
