How does the quality compare to the Xiaomi ones?

    • ROMOSS power banks were around before Xiaomi. Their power banks have good reviews with an average rating of 4.5 on Amazon.

They've been very popular on Ozbargain in the past too.

  • Just bought 2 of them a 2 weeks ago at normal price crap. But was gonna get another 2 but the coupon codes don't work :-(

    • You would have to make 2 separate orders for the coupon to work on these ones. Customer service can arrange for the orders to be shipped as 1.

      • I see thanks I'll check to see if that works

Does this support simultaneous charging of devices whilst being itself charged? If so, does it maintain output power when the input power is cut off?

I'm looking for a power bank to act as a very basic UPS for a Raspberry Pi - I'm open to suggestions for other power banks that can do this job…

    • Yeah. It supports pass through so you can charge the powerbank while powering your device. Since it's a power bank, the power will remain when the power is cut from it.

      • +1

Unfortunately, some (many?) power banks that support pass through charging will still briefly drop power to the connected device when they lose AC power - e.g. I've a couple of Xaomi 10000 mAh power packs and although they support pass through charging, they don't supply it continuously when the source power is removed, and that causes the Raspberry Pi to reboot.

Are you able to find out whether this device can supply power continuously when disconnecting and connecting external power?

        • +1

Interesting. I'll contact ROMOSS and see what their response is.

        • @Clear:

That would be great - thanks!

        • @Clear: I'd like to know as well, thanks!

        • I have an older Romoss that cuts out in exactly this scenario. Would be keen if I could get something for the Pi.

        • @Clear:

          Any reply from ROMOSS yet?

        • @OnTheMark: Yep. They didn't think it was possible so I'm confirming it with their support.

        • @Clear:

OK, thanks - keep us updated!

i've just received this and tried it out. It continues to power phones without interruption when power is cut from charging the bank. This thing can be quick charged at [email protected], it also can pass throuigh charge devies when itself is being charged but only from teh QC port. It cuts power to the normal one. supply output rate seems to be restricted to .7A when passthough.

        • @supnigs:

Thanks for that - that's quite helpful!

With the testing that you did, was that with only a QC AC charger or did you also try charging it at 5V from a regular USB power supply?

        • @OnTheMark: i just did a test with a standard 5v supply. It draws [email protected] to charge and still only powers the QC port with up to .7A without disruption.

        • @supnigs:

          Thanks!

Btw anyone ordering from Geekbuying, don't select the UPS fast delivery as they can't send it to Australia, they sent me an email a week later that it's not possible via UPS for security reasons and finally posted via normal mail which takes 15 - 30 days

    • UPS isn't available to Australia. DHL and recently TNT won't ship power banks by air.

  • I'm assuming this is the ROMOSS version without the Samsung batteries?

  • I have the xaomi version .. really good product. Works perfectly… almost half the price.

    • Where did you get the Xiaomi one for that cheap!?
Last I checked it was almost double the price: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237982

      • +1

I mean this unit is almost half the price of the xaomi.. id buy this if i didn't get the xaomi. Same specs.

Rep does this model support passthrough charging?

    • +1

      Yep.

  • Hi rep is there an express shipping option for power banks?

    • No. Unfortunately DHL and TNT won't ship most power banks by air anymore.

  • -1
    • Not the same power bank. That's the Polymos 10 Air and this is the Polymos 10S. The main difference is that the 10S features Quick Charge 2.0 and that one on eBay does not.

  • Where can I get a quick charge charger for this?

  • What's everyones experience on shipping times with geekbuying? Looking at buying 1-2 before I leave for Japan (exactly 30 days from today…) Am I cutting it too close?

    • Free shipping can take up to 30 business days and about 3 weeks on average. I think you are cutting it too close.

    • usually at least 2 weeks .. although the last xaomi power bank i bought came in a week … never depend on quick shipping from china. budget for at least a month.

      • Damn :( Thanks for that.. Guess my only hope is if mushtato does a sale soon.

  • Thanks Clear. Good deal, got one on the way.

Any chance for a special on the following? I had a couple due to their compact size and fit but they seem to keep disappearing, probably for the same reason :) … QC2 or 3 is fine. Keen for 2 or 3 more if you can run a multiple code?

    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-TS-CC1Q-Quick-Charg…

  • Would this not work with my z2?

    • Officially it's only the Japanese Z2. Unofficially it can be any Z2 but it's complicated

      • Ah okay, thanks so much for that super quick reply! I really appreciate it :)

  • Hi @Clear,

I saw there are 2 USB charging ports on the power bank.

Do both 2 ports support QC2.0 simultaneously to 2 connected devices and can maintain max 9V 2A or 12V 1.5A output power each port?

Btw, I'm interested in this VR Box http://m.geekbuying.com/item/Virtoba-X5-VR-Virtual-Reality-H… can you offer a special deal for this?

I got to know this from Geekbuying newsletter. Is this the latest and best-in-class Chinese VR gadget? Any more high-end models?

Also, re. Tronsmart USB cable pack, I bought a pack in one of your last deals. These cables are very thick and of very high quality and can output max 2A. However, 3 out of my 6 cables got their 2 holding pins failed that keep falling off its connected devices. Hence, the power keeps disconnecting all the time. Is this a known issue of Tronsmart USB cables?

    Cheers,

    • Only 1 port is QC2.

I can get good discounts on the Virtoba range and I'll have to get back to you on an exact price. The X5 is a top of the range VR that requires a phone. There are now "all in one" headsets that have a screen, processor and Android etc built into them so you don't need a phone. The full range is here and the cheapest is the HA544 with a review here

Unfortunately that is a known fault with the Tronsmart cables. If you're after a refund/replacement you can try contacting Geekbuying at [email protected] or Tronsmart directly at [email protected]

      • So one port is QC2.0. The other one is standard 5V 2A right?

Thanks Clear. Look forward to your special deal on the VR Box X5.

Since the holding pins is a known fault in Tronsmart USB cables, do you recommend any good quality alternatives which could deliver max output for a 2m (6ft) one?

  • Thanks. Bought one.

  • Anyone had their orders posted out yet?
I ordered more than a week ago on 12/4 but it's still processing, which is a bit of a poor effort.
Not sure if I'll be buying from geekbuying again.

    • +1

That's very unusual. What's your order number?

    • Just a timeline of my order for reference if anyone else is still waiting like me:

      12/4 Ordered
19/4 Emailed customer support and asked why my order was still processing, was told it would be done by the end of the week (23/4)
21/4 Messaged Clear who said customer support would get back to me, they never did
22/4 Messaged Clear again, who contacted customer support again, who never contacted me again
24/4 Emailed customer support again and waiting for them to give me another story

Hope other people have had better experiences so far but I reckon I'll be staying away from Geekbuying from now on, if it takes more than 12 days for an order to be processed and no meaningful feedback has been given from the company at all

      • +1

I'll speak to them about it and see what's going on.

      • I ordered on 19/4 and still waiting for their email for posting out message.
I hope they can contact me by email ASAP.
        My order number is #3647231.

        • So yesterday they replied me and said it would be ready on Wednesday.
I asked them if they can upgrade my shipping.
Now they've said to wait two days more, which is Thursday, and ignored my question about shipping.

          Really not impressed at all.

        • @azz: I've been told Wednesday or Thursday.

  • +1

    Order confirmation on 17/04.
delivered to Sydney CBD today 04/05
    Good enough for me.
Thanks Clear and all others involved in the deal

  • hi, I just wondered how come it is not listed on the Qualcomm QC certified list?

    https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list

    is this a rebranded item?

Also, can I use auspost parcel locker address with this item ?

    • Devices need to be individually submitted to UL by the manufacturer for certification which ROMOSS have not done. QC does require a compatiable chip that's in Qualcomm's list. I don't know for certain what one they're using.

It's not a rebranded item as Shenzhen Romoss Technology Co. Ltd is the manufacturer and they produce OEM/ODM power banks for other brands as well.

Auspost locker will be fine for free shipping.

      • thanks, will buy

  • Ordered on 15th April (along with a Tronsmart car charger), shipped out on 16th April and received today 9th May. That's pretty standard for things coming from China (or Netherlands?)
Tracking available until it reached Australia post. Haven't tested either but looks good so far.

  • I got mine yesterday and it's working great 😺
