    bargain.

    • Mate you need to wake up and smell the coffee =p

  • Yes! Very nice bargain. Dunno how it works, though. XD

    edit: I found the manual.

Has anyone used this machine before? How does it compare to the popular Breville Bes870?

    • It is an automatic machine, so hardly to compare to a manual one, but for the price, you wont go wrong.

      • Did some research the last time it was posted. Apparently, this model is beset with reliability issues which explains the poor sale.

        • +1

You might be right. I did the same research as well I found the machine is not that bad.

Many breville machines also be reported the reliability issues on Product Review.

All in all, I still think at $169.5 is a great bargain I had to share.

Bought this about three weeks ago for $225, dangit.

But even that price was a third of what fully automatic coffee makers normally start at. This is ridiculously cheap.

The cleaning procedure for milk section seems a bit annoying. I just use it for black coffees and hot water for tea. Simple, quick.

Terrible machine…not worth $179. Sorry to be a downer guys, but this really is a horrible horrible machine.
Better off buying a capsule machine for the price.

    • +2

was going to buy but held off seeing your comment. May I know why you rate it so bad?

    • yeah, why?

      • +5

Flimsy, mine broke within a month. Replaced under warranty, broke again. Burnt coffee taste in both units that I had.
You get what you pay for.

I was thinking to buy one until I saw your comment.

Great machine. Mine has been running without problem for 2 and half years now.
    Made around 3,000 coffees

    • Did you pay less than $200 for your machine?

      • +1

        $400

      • Update: Just got mine today. It's re-branded WIK CremAroma 9757W.1 from same chinese factory.

I even notice that WIK marked on the brewing unit.

Should correct that the machine comes with 2 heating elements (Not one mentioned on sunbeam site and manual) for optimal preparation of hot drinks based on coffee and milk.

        http://www.wik.de/kaffeewelt.html?&scategory=10&L=1

I am quite happy with it atm

    • Mine snapped through the main boiling water pipe, which is a movable part in eve the automatic grinder… Haven't been able to find a sufficient replacement (that can handle the heat and movement) through traditional avenues.

It was good before that Only downside-the cleaning cycle for milk is very wasteful, particularly if it's just for 1 cup. It runs through a cup of Bicarb water then a cup of fresh water - about 800ml

Just bought one, a lot more environmental than a capsule machine, and cheap to run!

    • +2

And coffee is far better tasting freshly ground than from a pod

      • +2

Hey anything better then pod coffee

        • +1

          Ever tried Blend 43?

        • @elektron: my mum and dad drink every day it there fav.

  • +3

These are only a horrible machine if you don't run the cleaning cycle regularly.

Keep it clean and it will last you a very long time, kind of like maintaining anything really, if you don't look after it, it won't last.

I pass after reading some bad reviews with 1, 2 and 3 stars ratings. They all said the machine can't make hot coffee.

    • There is no harm to try it. If it doesnt work, you can return it anyway. Also for what I can see the level of bad reviews is normal compare to any other coffee machine.

      Probably dumb operators.

      • +1

Isn't the whole point that it's automatic, you push a big button that says make me coffee and the machine works it out. Now if it's a manual machine with grinder etc, fair enough, but an auto machine should be, push this big button and coffee comes out. I've personally only used manual espresso machines and have never had good experiences with auto machines, other than a Jira that only made espresso (no milk-based coffee's)

        • +1

An automatic coffee machine does not have mind reading capabilities. Although in this dumbed down age, that's what many people expect.
That is why you have to go into settings for the water temperature preference.

I was really close to buying one of these last time it popped up, but after reading reviews and opinions there's no way I could bring myself to buy one. It just sounds like it's riddled with faults and worse still can't make a decent coffee :S

  • +2

There are many bad reviews http://www.productreview.com.au/p/sunbeam-caffe-bellissimo.h…
No wonder, this machine has been discounted.

    • I believe all machine have bad reviews.

3.7/5 is actually on the normal level. So I think it's not too bad.

One downside I know is the heating system. many people complain the coffee is not hot enough.

      • One downside I know is the heating system. many people complain the coffee is not hot enough.

Most consumer fully autos suffer from the same affliction to varying degrees IME. I've heard that you can pre-warm the milk in the microwave to alleviate the problem.

      • The problem though is that with a lot of cheap coffee machines that get average reviews you can generally look through what they're saying and understand the issue they're having and potentially how to avoid it. With this machine however to put it bluntly it's just a faulty piece of crap and that's exactly the reason it's so cheap.

  • Price has gone up?

  • Anyone ever had to get one of these repaired?

  • Thanks OP. Got myself one to replace my rusty old Sunbeam.
