Bottom drawer is a chiller. The second drawer up is the freezer. Fantastic fridges.

    • Any more detail on why this is a good fridge?
Ive been on the hunt for a while but I can't settle on a model so far
      Any clues appreciated

  • 1272.86 delivery from Bing Lee.

Damn it. I'm in the market and on the look out for a good fridge

    • Whats this about?
Delivery looks to be about $80

    • NSW to WA.

    • I did extensive research into getting the right fridge and wanted one with a water dispenser but just couldn't go past the multi compartments and perfect reviews for this fridge! I loved that it wasn't the typical stainless steel fridge as well. When I went to purchase it in person it was just too small for our recess so had to get the 743l even though I couldn't fathom paying so much for a fridge! It looks amazing and is super quiet.

When I did my research, there was always somewhere that had this fridge on special for around $2800 mark but very limited suppliers in Perth.

These guys do it standard for $2872 and it comes with free delivery (including Perth)!!
      https://www.billyguyatts.com.au/fridges-freezers/french-door…

I got Harvey Norman to price match these guys for my model so you could do that (or kambos) if you wanted to buy local :)

      • I have a black glass 580 Litre fridge bought from Retravision just over 12 months ago. Its faulty and Cant be repaired.
Sharp have said to refund the cost, but Retravision have refused offering only store credit.
        Their price?? $4200.
HN was $3600 ticketed price on display.

        • wow that is super crap!!!!!!!! Which brand was that? And also, if they are refunding it as store credit….does that mean you get $4200 to spend in their store??

        • @KupoHo:
          Sharp.
Sharp themselves have been great, they have been helpful….
Retravision, not at all. Totally regret buying any appliance from them.
Basically holding me to store credit….. Sharp have said refund.
It Cant be repaired and there's no stock to replace with same.
In that case, they are well over 600 more expensive than 2 other local stores…..they know I'm stuck to shopping in their store only.

        • @albanyson:
Wow that is super crap! I looked at them when I was going to buy my fridge as well but just something about their website didn't appeal to me hahaha just didn't look very professional and from your experience probably matches their service.

Mitsubishi has a fridge thats similar to the sharp one! But it is very wide. I hope you get your refund considering the circumstances..especially since Sharp said you are entitled to one. I assume it's Sharp who foot that bill so wth??

        • @KupoHo:
Sharp have been good. They acknowledged the fault and then said it would get replaced….since one was not available, they said I'll get a refund.
Unfortunately, Cant say anythi g good from Retravision.
Think you try to shop locally to keep money local.
But after 2 fridges and 2 washing machines, microwave, tv and stereo in last 3 years(split from ex wife so bought all new again)
I've certainly spent a few dollars in the store. …..
And it's a struggle to get any service from Retravision at all.

        • @albanyson:

I'm pretty sure under Consumer Law if the defect/fault is considered "major" you are entitled to a refund or replacement….so if there's no replacement then you are entitled to a refund. I would totally print this out from the ACCC website and show them and ask for your cash refund:

          https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

can you escalate it to their head office (if there is one)?

Also, guess that's one good thing from starting fresh - all brand new stuff! :)

        • @KupoHo:
Great link, Thank you very much.
Some good ammo there to fire back with.

        • @KupoHo:
Still getting messed around by Retravision.
We made a meeting with the owner, they told us they would refund us and wanted out bank details..which we gave at the time…..and we thought it would happen.
We then just now recieved a text to my phone, from them, saying they will only refund to a card so we must go back in with a card and only then they will refund…..

          DO NOT deal with Retravision.

        • @albanyson:
OMG! That is just a load of BS! I'm guessing they are individually franchised? Best you go in with your card ASAP, I'm not sure why they would say to refund to a bank account as I would assume that would throw out their reconciliation (assuming you paid by credit card to begin with)? Maybe they were buying themselves time and had to go research the ACCC website to understand what your rights are as a consumer lol. I find it bizarre that Sharp have probably refunded them the money to pass onto you and they have made the executive decision on how you will receive it, when really I don't think it is upto them at all??? Although now that they have text you, you have written evidence that they have confirmed they are refunding you. If you don't see the money in say 5 business days from when they state they have refunded you, you could lodge a complaint with the ACCC and they would have to try and resolve the issue within a certain time frame. Another route is to issue a charge back with your card issuer. But give them at least 5 business days before you do as I'm sure it has been enough of a headache and you would rather your money back and not have to push it further. Good luck! Will definitely steer clear of Retravision though - so thank you for the heads up :)

        • @KupoHo:

They never even tried to call….just sent a text.
          Faceless and nameless sms.

          Pretty pathetic really.

And yes, very fiffgerent to what we were told yesterday standing in stire in person. I'm back at work today…..so they probably know they can mess me around for a while longer.

        • @albanyson:
Have you been very cordial during this whole ordeal? At some point you have to put your foot down, be assertive and tell them enough is enough. I usually send an email outlining the timeline of events and request actions to resolve the issue within a given timeframe (be objective and only list facts). Even in this instance, you can send them an email requesting they send you notice (via email/mobile) to confirm that they have refunded your money as per the agreement from your meeting with the owner. It's just good to keep it for your own records and if eventually for some reason you don't get your refund, you have everything documented, which would only strengthen your case.

        • @KupoHo:
I've been very patient. Very very patient
But its def running thin. GF is back to store now to see in person what crap they giving.
I'm at work and cant get away….. I'm hoping she's more persuasive…I'm trying hard to stay calm.

        • @albanyson:
Sometimes you need to be a bit riled up to speak your mind haha Fingers crossed your gf sorts it out and the matter is done and dusted!

    • Since checking last week at one of Harvey Norman stores, they sell both this fridge and the 655L version although i cant find it on their website. Worth checking out in store and that way you can try and get a better deal.

I just got this fridge delivered on Friday. I saw it ticketed at $2,695 at Bi Rite Mooloolaba at Easter, I got it from my local Lismore Bi Rite for $2,750 (plus $100 delivery to my out of town house). I was sold by the huge veg drawer. Its a lot of money for a fridge but its a long term purchase and it really is a quality machine. Its much narrower than any other 500L fridges. Just be aware the headline figure of 562L is the gross volume, if you tipped it on its back and filled it with water you could probably fit 562 litres in, but the rated storage volume is 378L. There's a lot of unusable air space around all the drawers. Mine replaced a standard 2 door 350L fridge and its definitely much bigger but if you were coming from a basic 500L 2 door I dunno if it might seem a little small? (there's a long thread on whirlpool that suggests otherwise, with some nice input from wfdTamar)

    • Correct me if I'm wrong… From my research Australia list "gross volume" as The actual amount of space you actually have to use (net?). If you just added the dedicated "fridge" and "freezer" drawers then it does come to around the 370L mark but you have space in another 3 drawers. If you added all 5 up the total gross is 562L. You can use the ice draw as a normal freezer draw if you wanted to. Same goes for that soft freeze drawer. And the fruit and veg drawer is really just another fridge drawer :)

Just had a look at a whirlpool thread…that might have been where I get my info from lol saw something with international and Australian standards and it does appear the Aust capacity figures are slightly higher than international capacity figures (not much tho). wonder what it is that the Aust gross figures included that international leaves out?

      • This is from the user manual:

        ^ Compartment ^ Gross Volume ^ Storage Volume ^
        | Fridge | 253 | 228 |
        | Ice Drawer | 27 | 4 |
        | Versa Drawer | 46 | 17 |
        | Freezer | 118 | 59 |
        | veg Drawer | 118 | 70 |
        | Total volume | 562 | 378 |

There's a good document on the Mitsubishi NZ site that shows all the dimensions, from that you can do some maths to see the gross volume for the drawers is the volume of the cavity and the storage volume is the volume of the actual sliding bins.

I've no idea about a standard for the calculation of storage volume: my old fridge has a sticker that says 350L gross, 340L rated. I can see how they got the gross volume from the length width and depth of the internal space. But I can't see how you could ever get 340L storage, the shelves don't go right to the back wall and the width gets narrower to make slots for the shelves to fit in, by my calculations I couldn't get any more than 290L at best. Thats a 15 year old fridge though so maybe the standards, if there are any, have got a bit tighter.

        • wow thanks for that! Do you think that would be the case for all fridges..in terms of how much it actually "stores". I thought the mitsubishi doors etc were actually much thinner than the other fridges I looked at…

That being said….we've only just moved in and our fridge is pretty much empty LOL so probably makes no diff to us >_<

        • @KupoHo:
Would be interesting to compare some other models. You'd reckon the more compartments and drawers the greater the gross/storage volume differential would be. The way I look at it is the remaining volume is able to be much better utilized. Take the freezer, technically the available volume is slightly less than on my old fridge. Being able to pull the freezer drawer out and see the whole top layer and then push the top tray back and see the bottom layer is miles ahead of opening a top mount freezer and just being able to see whatever is at the front.

        • @foonman:
cos the fridge is so big, I feel like I need to buy stuff to put in there LOL

But yup, totally agree I just love how its almost like incidental organisation! I like that the vegie drawer is at the bottom as I can still utilise it as a fridge compartment where my son can reach it but not fear anything is gonna fall onto him :)

  • What's the energy usage like for this beast? Does it come with a wind farm?

    • +1

      3.5 stars, 410 kWh/yr

      • Yes which is pretty good. Also keep on mind that the way the star ratings work has changed so new system 3.5 stars is much better than old 3.5 stars.

  • I got this fridge 10 days ago over the phone from binglee who price matched 2nds world catalogue price. For me it came to 2909 delivered and they also removed the old fridge.
For us this replaced a 519 litre fisher Paykel Fridge. At first glance it looked smaller but it turned out to be quite spacious. It makes you more organised in the way you store things which we like, although I can understand some people might not like that.
I would have bought the larger size of this but that was taller then the dedicated fridge space in our kitchen. (btw, most fridges nowadays are much taller in size. I assume the new kitchen designs will have taller cabinets for fridges now)

Also, this is made in Japan (which is generally considered a good thing for fridges) plus it comes with 5 year standard warranty too.

    • I know what you mean about being more organised. I was a little concerned it might be too prescriptive - with all the dedicated spaces. I thought one big space to use how you want may be more flexible. Turns out I never realised how random our use of the old fridge was. We just shoved stuff in anywhere. This fridge brings some order that I didn't know we were lacking.

With all respect, this is the standard price by most stores except Bing Lee and Harvey Norman. Foonman seems to have got a good price though, foonman spell check brings up some interesting variations on your username, goon and con. I was eyeing this fridge off for about a year due to height limitions of my fridge space, 1700 height and this fridge and a Fisher & Paykel' were/are the only 2 fridges in market under 1700 height and over 500 litres, however best price was only ever around $2,700 in an eBay % off sale. All you guys who bought one have a great fridge though, probably one of the best in the market…that ice maker!. I changed my kitchen to all white and removed the tiled floor down to the floorboards so was able to fit in a taller fridge, got me another 40mm height and went a Fisher & Paykel's flat door white fridge 1715 height that is more a style thing than one of these awesome fridges. One day I will get this fridge though!

    • Good thing I like about the icemaker is that it does not require plumbing. Easier to clean too.

      • You need to fill the water tank yourself? how may litres does it hold?

      • Good thing I like about the icemaker is that it does not require plumbing

I would consider that a serious disadvantage!

What a PITA to have to continuously refill, carrying bucket over or whatever.

        • It's about 1.5 litres. It's just a container you whip out, fill at the tap, then bung back in. Dead easy. Ice drawer holds heaps. I didn't think it would be that useful, but it's great. You can turn ice making on, off or on to party mode (make some fast). Pretty sure you can also choose to use that drawer as freezer.

Same with the Versa drawer - can use it in lots of modes. Bottom drawer is good for veg and drinks, which is one thing the main fridge compartment lacks - sending bottle room. Once you get it in your head too use the bottom drawer front section that's no bother.

    • LOL, goonman! why didn't I think of that. I think I signed up to OZB on a Friday night after a few ales, foonman was the first random thing that came into my head. Showing my age here, but in my memory foonman was one of Captain Kremmen's crew on the Kenny Everett Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShCCSF9m-7M

  • Have this fridge (the 655litre version) and rate it, the reason we got it was it is one of the lowest profile fridges (external width and depth) especially in comparison to volume.

It's not as good looking as some other fridges but practicality wise I can't fault it.

  • Can anyone recommend a similar fridge where the depth doesn't exceed 650mm?
