Def a good price for this

    • Yep, I am happy.

    • I am interested but since reading about Samsung's panel lottery some time ago, i have been weary about buying Samsung's TVs. Looking at Sony or LG options at the moment. Any comments?

    • The 48" is made in China. Buy the next size up which is made in Malaysia and is better quality. Also these TV's have a terrible delay response when you turn it on. The smart functions lag significantly. On the positive side, the picture quality is good.

  • $798 doesnt feel so good now huh? No, no it doesnt. :(

  • for what it's worth i don't think this is true 100hz

    • Yeah I'm pretty sure you won't be able to do 1080p @ 100hz over HDMI but thats pretty typical.

      • I wasn't aware any domestic TV's offered 100hz input frequency, can you point me to a model that does?

          A couple of Sony's 4k TV's allow it.
ie: The X830 and the X810.

        • @theguyrules:

i bought the 49" X830 yesterday for $1099. can't wait for it to be delivered

@theguyrules: Thanks mate, I used to be across this sort of tech…

        • @championruby: Nice!! Enjoy! I'd personally jump on that if it was a touch bigger, just for my situation.

    • the review says this set has limited viewing angle but I had a look at this in store and found the viewing angle was excellent, no drop in contrast even at extreme angles.

      • I bought this display 6 weeks ago, its not perfect but very nice.
Turn the motion control right down (2 for motion and 0 for detail or something) and it looks much more natural.
        1080 sources look very nice.
Greys and blues can look patchy, off axis contrast and colour is average, the smart section can lag, but for 700-800 its still very good.

Have you had any problems with the time in the Smart Hub? I bought this TV a few weeks ago and am generally very pleased with it. The time of the TV itself is correct and receives it through the TV transmissions, but any app that uses the time (Foxtel Play, Plex…) is wrong - it seems to be stuck at UTC as it's 9.5 hours behind (I'm in Adelaide). I've done things like factory reset the TV, reset the Smart Hub etc, and cannot get the time to display correctly.

Personally, I think there's a bug in the TV firmware and doesn't understand time zones which are not offset by whole numbers.

Just wondering if anyone's found a way around it.

        • @pylchung: I also bought it couple of weeks ago from binglee, Not happy looks like pre installed apps are not working.

For eg., Youtube app just freezes during the video streaming(that can be any video) after the advertisement plays in between,
Does not matter whether you let play whole ad or skip using 'ad-skip' button.

Customer care is pathetic not ready to access this as their issue, just escaping saying that it is youtube app issue..

I wonder who the hack youtube is installed….They(samsung L2 support) accepted that similar issue being observed in other models as well,
          Still waiting for the resolution.

          I strongly dont recommend this.

  • Good deal but I need something bigger

1 year warranty? Even Soniq refurbs have 18mths!

Good thing we have consumer law!

    • Is there any way to purchase extended warranty with this if I buy from eBay with the collect discount?

Any opinion this or the Sony W700C for $636 on the other deal?

    • Yes, am interested in this too…

      Samsung 100hz
      Sony 50hz

But I think Sony is fair bit more power efficient. Either way can't go wrong at this price.

  • The samsung isn't true 100hz, the panel it uses is 50hz, but it has a strobing backlight to achieve 100hz, it's still a fair bit better than 50hz, but not quite as good as actual 100hz panel tv's, the sony's that are advertised as 100hz are actual 100hz panel tv's unlike the samsung's.

  • I hope it fits in my back seat!!

    • Easy

    • Fit in the back of a vectra (just), theyre pretty smallish cars

  • Wonder if the Amex deal stacks with this for an extra $50 off??

EDIT: According to thst thread. Ebay store not eligible.

  • Only 1 year warranty, doesn't say much for life expectancy.

  • what about the Hisense 50" which is $595 before the discount ?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Hisense-50K220PW-50-126cm-FHD…

  • I bought the 40 inch version of this Samsung Smart TV just a couple of weeks ago at the same price ($710 ish after discount). The picture quality is no where near as good as my 2006 model Hitachi 42" plasma. Full HD yet picture looks a little plasticky, fake is the way I would describe it

    • Play with the Auto Motion Plus setting
      I use:
      - 0 Blur
      - 4 Judder
      - Led Clear Motion - off.

      Much better.
