Price drop of $44 today, incredible specs for the price.

EDIT: This model is eligible for a $100 cashback from Lenovo.

$100 Cashback from Lenovo (Thanks Lambsie)

EDIT #2:
T&Cs states:

1) Product can be purchased at eligible Australian retailers with a current Australian Business Number (ABN) or directly from Lenovo Store (www.lenovo.com.au) Products purchased from auction or bidding websites & overseas online retailers are not eligible.

Apparently TGG offers a generic receipt when you C&C that does not indicate it was an eBay sale, so cashback should be fine. Thanks fiximol and Binary01

Should be an additional $100 cash back as well!

Thanks, now it really is an incredible deal :) Just searched it up and it's mentioned on both JB and HN's website, so should be alright.

      Abort Abort Abort!

Lenovo website crapped itself after I posted the deal, looks like it's back again. Having only skimmed it the first time round, I had a re-read of the T&Cs, it states:

      1) Product can be purchased at eligible Australian retailers with a current Australian Business Number (ABN) or directly from Lenovo Store (www.lenovo.com.au) Products purchased from auction or bidding websites & overseas online retailers are not eligible.

Guess that rules eBay out, looking at the purchase history I feel horrible now after seeing that 3 people have bought it assuming that there is cashback :(

To the people that buy it, please cancel your order ASAP,I am extremely sorry.

Otherwise if you think it's a good deal, I do hope that TGG gives a generic non-ebay receipt in store when you C&C so you can use it for cashback. Has anyone had any past experience with TGG C&C? I can't remember whether they gave me a receipt or not.

Afaik good guys recipt, if you do click and collect, does not indicate ot was an eBay sale and the invoice comes from the store

        • +2

Thanks, was worried there for a sec

        • +2

Yes, that is my experience too. Will get a normal receipt from GG when you collect so it should be fine for Lenovo cash back.

        • +1

I can confirm that, They gave me that kind of receipt when I bought my fridge

  • +2

Can memory be upgraded to 8GB ?

  • +4

Nice.. Was about to buy this over the 11" I got from Amazon till I saw 4GB ram…

  • Hmm, I've always tried to avoid buying a Lenovo, but at this price and with these specs it's very tempting…

Avoid Lenovo, their driver support are the worst.

      • +1

All the laptop manufacturers are basically the same. I have a HP laptop which is not any better than my wife's lenovo.

        • Lenovo have great build quality for their ThinkPad line but if you do need warranty they are hopeless. I knew someone who was jerked around for months to get a replacement for a faulty hinge out of the box

        • @The Land of Smeg: Tell me about it. They failed to replace the battery and on top of this made a hole/destroyed the headphone jack in my 2-in-1. They began investigating and "discovered" that it was sold by Lenovo Poland originally (I still had the warranty from the Australian seller). It looks like I will finally be able to get my refund, but it took months.

        • All the laptop manufacturers are basically the same.

          Um no they aren't.

  • Can i claim GST?

    • Yes-TGG invoice should come with GST inclusive.

      • In the case of discount code being applied, does the receipt shows the original price or price after discount?

        • +1

          Original

    • Bloody hell you're not wrong!

    • +4

Well possibly, but that's a different model. HN model has 8G ram, 256G SSD, discrete Nvidia graphics, faster CPU…

      • Ahh I see, cheers.

      • -1

Actually the processor is the same, but otherwise all true.

        • +1

Man, I really dislike the trend of people who neg due to how they feel rather than what is correct. The Good Guys model has the Intel i5-6200U listed as its processor, the Harvey Norman model has the Intel i5-6200U listed under specifications. Same processor.

Beware that even though the RRP is $1400, it's not really a premium laptop due to the poor screen. It can only do 66% sRGB and 190 nits. However at this price it is a very good buy if you can tolerate the screen. I seriously considered buying it when it was $1200.

    Good review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izhvSPw8FcQ

    • Hmmm, 190nits is getting into the not bright enough for indoors territory as well, outdoor usage will be pretty limited I suspect.

  • +5

Don't know about you all, but it seems it's not that great based on user reviews…

  • +3

happy to pay a bit extra for 8g ram and 256g ssd…hmmm

  • hmmm there is mainly bad reviews on this model cos of the screen - dunno if I should roll the dice and get it and go through the trouble of the apparently bad Lenovo warranty support

    • You can claim warranty from TGG themselves under the ACL.

I have been considering this for a few weeks. Note that it takes a standard ssd drive but a slim 5mm version. It's a little tricky to upgrade the HDD for this reason but can be done. Either source a slim ssd or take the enclosure off a normal ssd drive or put an M.2. drive into a convertor enclosure…

Just an FYI in case anyone thinking if this. Happy to stand corrected..

Will this be a viable solution for lack of hard disk storage, costing $10 apparently?
      http://www.ebay.com/itm/512GB-USB-2-0-Mini-tiny-Flash-Memory…

      • +4

If you look at their ebay feedback, you'll see that the cards are fakes, usually 2 or 8GB, but made to look like 512GB (this is common when the price seems too good to be true) … When you load data onto them, it seems to work, until you try to get it off and only the first 2GB is there!

There's a cool video which talks about this (and more) here: https://youtu.be/r3GDPwIuRKI

  • Pretty excellent!

Do they include a generic receipt if you get it shipped?

    • Also interested in the answer to this as there are none available in Victoria to pickup.

    • I cannot guarantee they will but I ordered a carpet shampooer from Masters via Ebay that was delivered and that came with a generic receipt.

  • So the best way is get this from Ebay ? I can use my account to purchase it and ask them [TGG] to put my wife name on the invoice ? Thanks.

    • On another purchase I changed the shipping address to my wifes name before paying (So she could pick it up) and it seemed to work.

      • Thank you.

    Hey lyl,
I bought the YOGA from the previous deal you posted. I am really happy with it except the keyboard which is UK layout. 11" model is so light and portable and that one got 8GB RAM compared to this (4GB).

    • +1

I like mine too, I went and had a look at the 14" and although it weighs 500g more it's certainly not as light, thin or as versatile in tablet mode as the 11.6". Plus the plain silver isn't as nice as the orange..

Other then that it seem decent.

  • gotta resist… just spent cash on the moto 360 and moto x style….

    • you still have credit card etc. :)

Just nabbed one for my husband's birthday! great price.

  • Ordered last night and its been dispatched already.

Confirmed it comes with a tax invoice which is emailed to you from good guys - which ill use to claim the cash back

  • I am literally on the verge with this one. Can any one speak of pdf reading performance in tablet mode ?

  • Out of stock anywhere now?

  • i have got one today very happy , thanks
