  • I already have a Chromecast 1st gen. Is the Chromecast 2 much better?

    • +43

      short answer: no

      long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

      • now I dont feel so bad for buying Gen 1 a few days before Gen 2 came out

    • +3

I do think it's better because of the 5ghz. My Chromecast 1st Gen didn't like the wifi in the apartment with so much interference, but the 2nd Gen works much better.

      • Yeah, my Gen 1 was unusable with Plex but Gen 2 has no issues at all.

        • I have no problems with Gen1 and Plex.

        • +3

@aldoduco: It wasn't an issue with the concept of casting and Plex, it was an issue with 2.4Ghz wifi congestion. Gen 1 will work fine for some people but I'm just saying that there will be cases where Gen 2 will make a noticeable difference.

        • @eecan:

          Got it, thx

    • Better yes, absolutely… but not much better. Just runs smoother & slicker even without an AC router. For those with an AC router it's a no-brainer, CC2 is a much better match.

    • I prefer gen2 due to the 5ghz wifi

  • +1

Thanks lyl. Got the Dyson V6 finally 👌

  • Worth mentioning that Dyson are doing 35% off everything at the good food and wine show if you managed to score free tickets.

    • +2

Their rrp's are atrocious so I doubt it'll be cheaper than here.

      • I didn't stop it to ask the final price, but you could be right with the rrp.

        • +2

I did and got a brochure with all the rrp. The V6 Animal was $699 rrp coming down to $454 with 35% off.

        • @desperate: Sorry to hijack but was the AM10 Humidifier on the list? I think with 35% off rrp it would be the cheapest that has gone.

  • +1

V6 Animal close to best price ever.

  • +1

Must be a severe over supply of these Dyson V6 models….

  • +1

V6 Absolute is $530, haven't seen it much cheaper than this.

  • -1

Nutri Ninja Slim 700W Blender is not really worth it, even for that price. The motor is really weak.

    • Its fine. Its a blender for a large cup, not a family sized jug

  • +1

can the local GG stores match their own ebay price?

    • would also like to know…

      • I just called, the store said "NO".
But I can buy from ebay, and pick up by 4 PM today from the "same store".

    • +2

Generally not. The 20% off is provided by eBay, not the retailer. That's why you'll end up with a receipt that shows the full price (which makes it even more of a deal if you can claim it for tax purposes).

      • thanks, make sense
I was trying to avail the $50 cash back offer using Amex when you spend >$300 at GG stores :(

  • Anyone know if the price difference between the V6 and the V6 Animal is worth it? And can I use it as a vacuum for the car?

    • +7

Have done a lot of research recently when buying my V6 (I went with the Absolute).

Only difference between the V6 and V6 Animal (aside from the colours) is the mini motor brush head:

      https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13568643/Dyson%20V6.pdf

      PDF link courtesy of @Matt89

And you can buy this here for less than the difference between the two models:

      http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/motorised-head-917096-0…

Edit: for the car it can be a bit hard, as it is bulky and not flexible, I got the bonus toolkit with it, which comes with a flexible hose, and that makes it much easier. I wouldn't buy it for the purposes of vacuuming a car, but it will do the job if you have bought it for other reasons.

      • Thanks mate. So you're saying just get the V6 in my case?

        • That's my take on it, just grabbed one myself.

Thanks a bunch for the heads-up Kkuba, much appreciated.

        • You can also use it for the house, it is not limited to as a car.
The brush head cleans the car better and quicker, you can buy it separately if you went with the base V6. With those prices I recommend upgrading to the V6 animal at least.

  • i wonder if you can apply the amex $50 credit back on this deal as well? How would Amex know if its bought off their online store (through paypal) or off their eBay store (also through paypal)?

    • unfortunately, you can't :(

      • Yeah confirmed you can't. So it seems because it uses payment via paypal thats why it doesn't work. So even if you buy on their standard online store and use paypal you wont get the credit back.

  • +2

V6 absolute is $517.60 after discount. Pretty sure that's the best price it's ever been.

  • Please advise me. V6 or V6 Animal. Is it worth paying the extra for the animal.

    • See my comment above, in response to @k

      • not qute mate, the EPA filter too, and the extra attachments ie for the had wood floors that i have…

or am i thinking about the absolute? which is the top model?

        • Animal, not Absolute.

        • @Kkuba:

nah i was mistakem, in any even the absolute is is on sale too for just over $500 it might be enough for me to pull the trigger.

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-209568-01-V6-Absolute-H…

        • @T1OOO:

Yeah, realised your mistake (thanks to @dontpanic) after posting my comment.

The Absolute is very good, I recommend it, especially at this price.

I paid 556 for it a couple of weeks ago, with the bonus tool kit included, and have not looked back. Our regular vac has not made an appearance since then.

        • @Kkuba: Hi, so can I confirm again that the mini brush head is the only difference yah. And we can buy it separately. And thats all? Cheers

        • +1

          @roonaqdai:

from memory yes, thats the case. same motor power.

  • is this the cheapest price for the animal ever?

    • Yes. I bought one for $458.15 in April. The Good Guys list price was $539, but I used the ebay COOLING15 promotion.
And Myers had them for $439.20 in May with the CMYER20 promotion.
Just buy one. You won't regret it.

  • bought the v6 basic. good thing i passed on the myer deal last night.

  • Thanks Op.

    Bought V6 Animal, and ChromeCast

  • Thanks op. Finally managed to get the v6 before it expired. Also picked up a Samsung galaxy tab S2 9.7 at kogan for 480 with the 20% off.

  • +4

Just got the basic V6 from the Good Guys with the discount. In QLD it seems there's also a promotion to give you a store credit via redemption.
    $100 - $249 = $20 credit
    $250 - $499 = $40
    $500 - $999 = $75
    $1000 or more is $125.

Ends on 6/6/16. A nice bonus.

  • This one looks like a great deal for an Electrolux one for $159.20 and it is 2100w Vaccum in comparison to 1300w Dyson.

    • so u are saying a 3000cc engine car is absolutely better than 1500c turbo engine car??

  • Chromecast 2 $44

Getting closer and closer to that $40 mark… :)

    • Has been $42.8 before though. Which price were you waiting for it to drop to again?

      • -3

        4T

        • thanks for making things clearer.

  • Can someone please confirm the Mini motorised head will fit the Standard V6?

  • hey guys, i just got and used my dyson…. well all i can say is WOW! why havent i got it sooner, for 13 years ive put up with hair in the house fromt he dog, and alot of it, this sucked it up so fast…. i am amazed… really awsone, cleaning now becomes fun, fast, and easy,.. im so so impressed, ill get the next one too..

im a bug guy 6ft 1 and i would have liked even more suction and bigger battery to last longer, hopefully the next model allows for this, but in general, yeah im totally blow away, or sucked up.. excuse the pun, if you have a Labrador this is for you!

    magnific 10/10

    • I told you!
My Dyson V6 Animal has transformed my house (Labrador cross and two cats).
On the turbo mode, you can even suck the gunk out of your sliding door tracks. It's the most powerful vacuum I've ever seen.
And you don't need a bigger battery. Once you've got the house clean, all you need is a 3 minute spin around the house to get the day's shed fur and dried up muddy footprints off the floor and seats.

  • I just used my Dyson V6 for the first time. Did my whole house without battery dying. Happy with it except struggle with emptying it (allergies). It's the same with any vac but doing it more with this. I think that's why my allergies flaired up. Unless it's because it doesn't have the HEPA filter.
