Though why anyone would spend this money on Grey Import is beyond me

    • Is there a local dual sim model?

      • I don't think there is a local dual-sim model, no

        • Is grey import the only way to get dual sim? If so seems reasonable enough?

        • @turkz1:

Sure, if you want a 1yr warranty not 2, and limited 4G bands

        • @Spackbace:

Then we need to go back and REPEAT the first question:
Is there a local dual sim model?

What's your point? I gave my opinion on Grey Import, don't get bold with me!

        • @Spackbace:

Ok, let me tell you what those "anyone" that you are questioning want:

          1. Flagship phone
          2. Dual sim

Please can you get one phone that meets this requirement for this buying group? If core needs can not be met, who cares other thing like local warranty, money and grey imports?

          Is that clear?

        • @claud0902:

          Hey Claud…

          Remember this deal you posted?

I like these quotes of yours:

It is not the cheapest for sure but the 2 year AU warranty and easy communication on warranty issue makes the deal appealing.

For import stock we used to get around $420 for this phone. But we are not talking about the cheapest price we can find here, which is already mentioned in OP.

          @Spackbace:

You do not need to know my position, or my actual need for my smartphone choice. But I do understand the potential buying group who would buy grey imports because of something they care more than warranty or even money.

Dual sim can be a deal breaker factor to someone. If this comes as a must, you do not need to talk about other factors if you cannot meet the first requirement.

And you still want to give me pills?

        • -2

          @claud0902:

I negged due to being cheaper, and gave my opinion on grey import phones. You were the one that went on a rant.

So yes, you need the pills!

        • @Spackbace:

No issue about your neg. But reply due to your problem to understand grey import phones.

To my surprise you still did not get the point. Is warranty always > everything to you?

What if warranty means nothing? There are people unlock their bootloader and gain root access from day one when they get their phone. Thus the warranty is VOID from day one. Sure they are not average users but they are typical android users.

You simply cannot understand people with different needs.

Btw, that type of pill will not make me better.

Though I do not agree with @Spackbace, I would rather choose Xiaomi Mi5 if the sole purpose is to get a dual sim that works fine in Australia.

Mi5 is the only model so far that supports both sim to work at 4g/3g band at the same time. S7 however, only operates at 4g/2g. This means the 2nd sim to be useless once major carriers shut down their gsm service in short future.

    • Isn't eglobal grey-import?

      • Yep, so is DWI

  • What are the pros and cons of grey market units vs local Australian units?

    • -3

      Pro - cheap, dual-sim
Con - Limited 4G bands (at this price point), 1yr warranty (local has 2yrs)

      • +1

The Samsung Galaxy s7 range actually supports all Australian 4G bands apart from one on Optus.

      • Im confused. Is there any information on 4g band support that shows it is different from grey import stock?

EDIT : genuinely interested as I might pull the trigger

      • Assuming the all 3G and 4G bands are compatible with my preferred carrier, then the only cons would be worse warranty?

        • Yes, that would be it. You can't get the Dual sim version in Australia yet.

    • You can't claim free Samsung gear VR.. They have promotion at the moment. Plus I think for grey import, you can't get it fixed here (e,g you have to send it back to where ever you purchased it)

      • +1

If you root your phone, the Samsung KNOX will be triggered thus the warranty is void. Therefore no matter where you buy your phone from, you will have to pay cash to get it repaired in Australia.

The benefit of this deal, is to get Dual sim model Galaxy S7. Ask yourself if you need a dual sim phone that operates at 4G/2G at the same time.

If not, sure not a deal for you.

  • I have been keeping an eye on eglobal and DWI on this and as far as I can tell the FD model has all the bands and the edge F model has all the bands. Correct me if I'm wrong because I want this as well.

  • Hello guys, If I buy a S7 from abroad, like this one, It will not work here?
Are they different? Thank you so much
