61

Hi, first post.I bought this Kettle earlier today, mostly found from 109-119.00, The goodguys at HIghpoint S.C. in Maribyrnong (Victoria). Have it for 89.00. I wen to Retravision a couple of hundred metres down the road due to a warranty issue ona cordless phone and showed them the photo, and they beat that price! so i got it for 80.00! That's $40.00 saving. BY the way, the people at RetravisionSuperstore Highpoint are very good to deal with. Highly Recommended.
Cheers!
P.S. Not sure about expiry date, I had to put a date in.

Sort of offtopic, but what does this offer compared to the $8 1.7L kettle I purchased from BigW?

Never been bothered by boiling myself :/

  • The quiet boil kettles aren't quiet at all. It still roars like a jet engine. I'm still on the lookout for a ninja kettle

  • quiet kettle? Hmm… i don't know…. $80 is quite a high price to pay for a kettle that just boils water but doesn't keep it warm as long as its turned on… unlike an air pot like this one : http://www.compactappliance.com/NCEH40PC-Panasonic-4.1-Liter…

I'm using an induction whistle kettle (~9mins to boil 3L) myself… so i guess i don't belong to the market segment for quiet kettles. :)

i wouldnt pay $80 for a kettle unless it wakes me up and makes breakfast in the morning.

    Yes good on you….but

personally, I wouldn't crack a fat over this as a "bargain".
You can often pick up Russell Hobbes stainless steel kettles for half price at Target for $39.

    • yeah except for the fact that russel hobbes products are absolute rubbish

  • This kettle is quiet and well made. Highly recommend getting one. Bought one for myself and for my mum as Mother's day is next week.

  • We have this kettle but the one before it without the quiet change. The only difference is something at the bottom which imo only collects lime over time while the older one had a flat bottom so you could scrub the lime away easily It's also not noisy either unless you're always close to the kitchen.

  • wtf.. Bit of whooshing sound for a couple of minutes while it's boiling bothers people and they go out specifically to find a quiet one and pay a premium for it? What do these people do, boil water 24/7? meh.

    • It bothers me… I'm looking for a quiet kettle…

Can anyone recommend one that is 'really' quiet ???

      • If you want one thats quieter go for the plastic ones and don't go for one that has quick boil.

        • unfortunately, it has to be a stainless steel look to match the other appliances…

Our current Sunbeam one that we've had for 8 years sounds like a steam train…

      • It is always a challenge to find quiet appliances.
You could consider the Tefal Quick Cup. I almost bought one, but the checkout girl at Kmart said "it's not on special, it's not a kettle" on a day when all Tefal kettles, toasters, irons, blenders and grills were 30% off. She actually looked surprised when I refused to pay full price, left it on the counter, and left the store.
I like the construction quality (it is made in France and does not smell of noxious chemicals inside like some el-cheapo kettles) and the energy efficiency (I have a small household kitchen, not a large office tearoom).

      • Kettle noise is a very important kettle purchasing consideration for me. I've suggested to Choice Magazine that they need to start to include this factor in their comparison reviews of electric kettles.

Go on ebay's Breville/Kambrook site and they will only cost around $80, with free shipping, e.g. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-Breville-ikon-QUIET-BOIL-Kettle-R…

    • Which is better than local Retravision store how?

Hey Negative-People, I dont care if Harvey Norman have an XboX for $1.99 or $198.00, who cares if it's Arcade or Elite.. It's a game console. Point… If you are interested in a XboX arcade and 198.00 is good price, you use that information for your purchase.you don't 'attack' the well meaning person who 'BOTHERED' to post the offer. I thought that's what this site was for, to share info, for the good of our fellow "bargain hunters'. Relax bungs, Queen tightwad and elcheapoinoz. Relax, if it's not a bargain for you Move on. To the positive and constructive members… Thanks! I think we got the idea of this site right!. Nighty night!

I had no idea that the Xbox can boil water… Thanks !!!!

      (is it quiet thought ???)

Yes, I agree, points for posting a bargain.
Good that you motivated but reduced to (sorta) as your bargain is relatively piss-weak.
      But whats this….
?? Renaming members in negative way???
      Yawns.

  • The feedback I've seen for quiet kettles of all brands (Breville, Sunbeam, etc.) as well as my mum's personal experience (with a Russell Hobbs) indicates they are quiet initially then noisy as any other kettle after a few weeks, unless they're maintained meticulously by emptying them when not in use and/or descaling weekly.

Other than that, Breville make some nice kettles IMHO. Russell Hobbs' quality doesn't reflect its high RRP, so you're not really getting a bargain when they're heavily discounted at Kmart/Target.

what's the point of buying a kettle when you can boil water in a pot?

    • +1

Where do you plug in your pot ???

    • Because of forgetful family members who will walk away and let the pot boil dry. (the kitchen smells bad for the rest of the day when this happens)

    • Also, some people have electric stoves. They take forever to do anything.

  • If you want a useless kettle, get my one. We bought the Morphy Richards that glows blue when you turn it on. Looks cool in the dark but who doesn't turn the light on when in the kitchen.

Anyway I got no complaints about it, as it does the job, noise is decent. I thought the point of the noise was to let you know when its finished.

I think I got ours for $80-$90 as well, long time ago, RRP is like $150.

The novelty was short lived but for some reason I think it still has a positive effect somehow as I'm not regretful of the purchase.
