Looks to be similar to the Tronsmart charger but a little more expensive?

    • +2

Tronsmart charger claims 54W whereas Blitzwolf claims 40W.

      • +1

Yeah, this BlitzWolf is 4.4A across all 4 standard ports, the Tronsmart is 7.2A so if you're planning on loading all ports you'll have 1.1A vs 1.8A each on the standards, might be better off with the Tronsmart unless you really need QC3.0

        • Sorry what do you mean here?

        • +2

          @dandandan:

Well, the QC port aside, the 4 standard ports can supply up to 2.4A individually, but there is a total power limit of 4.4A shared across all 4, so you can't power more than one device at the full 2.4A at a time.

If you're powering 4 devices that only draw 1A each its not going to be a problem, but if you've got a lot of high draw devices at once you might find it a little slow to charge.

The Tronsmart total is 7.2A so you could power at least 3 devices at the full 2.4A if needed.

Of course you've also got the QC port that I assume will provide 2.4A to non-QC devices.

        • @bamzero:

          Thanks for clarifying.

        • @bamzero: Thanks for clarifying, gotta find one of these Tronsmarts with QC3.0 haha

    • I found Aukey has better specs and would be better value for money.

      Two QC3.0 ports + four AiPower 2.4A each = 6-port with type-C cable.

So if you are about to buy this Blitzwolf, maybe just wait and do some research first. The Tronsmart specs seem better, and Aukey are even better!

  • Blitzwolf is really quality proper tested stuff

    • +3

Yep, but at that price, I still cant go past the $15 IKEA 'KOPPLA' usb charger.

      Its teardown is here:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRe9w5PKmsE

If you're any sort of electrical nerd, I dont think I've ever seen a 'cheap' electrical device so well made!

And the local IKEA warranty, and QC being pretty strict; I'm confident to only use these from now on.

      • I bought a KOPPLA after seeing that review, and a few others where badly designed USB chargers were torn down and showed how unsafe some designs can be. Some were just a tiny solder bridge away from 240v through your USB device.

        • That's a very scary thought!

I bought a $10 Micro USB charger for work. I plugged it in and as I did I reached to grab my phone - that's when the charger exploded. The sparks just missed me and they left scorch marks on my desk.

My colleague who used to be an electrician for Ansett said I was lucky to be alive.

I tried to report the item to eBay, but the seller removed the item before I could

        • Mine's been fully loaded.

Charging a phone, charging my Pebble, and running my overclocked RaspberryPi.

          Flawless.

      • Thanks you very much, have subscribed to bigclivedotcom :)

    • I have this charger, and it has a coil whine problem when delivering anything over 0.8A at 5V.

  • I'm pretty sure the one you guys are talking about is only qc 2.0. If you're referring to this deal :

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248729

    • Yeah I was thinking of this one. Whats the difference between QC 2.0 and 3.0?

      • Difference in charging speed is minimal. QC3 improves the efficiency in charging.

      • Having a really dodgy return complain with geekbuying, will look for different supplier

      • Also just saw geekbuying don't have Au plug…

    • Is blitzwolf a better brand and quality?

  • +1

I have Blitzwolf car adapters, usb power adapters and usb power banks, and found them all to be reliable and good quality, especially for their price.

  • AU plug?

    • +2

You can see from the photos that it takes an IEC C7 plug, so you can use a local and approved cable. Don't use dodgy Chinese adaptors or twist US pins, that is really dangerous!

However the charger itself almost certainly won't be tested, approved or certified for AU Safety Standards.

      • Great…. so is the QC3.0 and VoltIQ charger benefit useless for Australian consumers? The IEC C7 is 2.6A but the blitzwolf is 1A input, and 4.4A for the QC3.0 port. Does the adapter accumulate before outputting? Otherwise the 4.4A benefit won't be realised with a 2.6A IEC C7

        • Great…. so is the QC3.0 and VoltIQ charger benefit useless for Australian consumers?

          Errr - what?

The IEC C7 is 2.6A but the blitzwolf is 1A input, and 4.4A for the QC3.0 port

          Errr - what?

Does the adapter accumulate before outputting? Otherwise the 4.4A benefit won't be realised with a 2.6A IEC C7

          Errr - what?

The IEC C7 is the mains input connection. The Australian technical term for this is "the Appliance Connector". Since this is an international standard kind of connector, it's easy to purchase a compliant replacement cord with an AU plug on it.

That is all. No idea why you are asking any of the other questions, but none of that Amps stuff matters.

        • @llama: So the 2.6A max input on IEC C7 into the charger of 1A, and the 4.4A output has a current mismatch of input and output. So with 5V either side charge will be slower that what people hope for

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

So the 2.6A max input on IEC C7 into the charger of 1A

No idea what you are talking about either 2.6A or the 1A.

          The Blitzwolf is marked "Input 100-240V - 50/60Hz 1.2A"

Technically that means it might draw at most 1.2A at 100 Volts, but I doubt it's even relevant to anything whatsoever. At 240V in normal operation, it would draw about a 1/10th of that.

and the 4.4A output has a current mismatch of input and output.

          Sigh. This is a "transformer" (of sorts). It transforms 240 Volts mains power into 3.0 / 3.6 / 6.5 / 9.0 / 12 Volts

It's rated output at 5 Volts is 4.4 Amps.

          5 Volts X 4.4 Amps = 22 Watts.

          22 Watts at 240 Volts (input) = 0.09 Amps.

So with 5V either side charge will be slower that what people hope for

Errr…. nope. You are confused. Totally.

      • +1

Maybe, maybe not. I got the Blitzwolf LT1 lamp, and was surprised to see it came with a C-ticked AU power supply.

        • was surprised to see it came with a C-ticked AU power supply

C-Tick is a logo. A chinese product having a certification logo printed on it means absolutely ZERO. Especially since only companies with an ABN are legally allowed to apply the C-Tick [wink]

Oh, and C-Tick is no longer used nor a valid compliance mark.

Additionally, C-Tick has nothing to do with safety.

HINT: Marks and logos mean absolutely nothing. In order to be certified, the product must be certified.

        • @llama:

Fair point. The C-Tick number on it belonged to an AU company, but not really relevant as you mention as it's related to interference, not safety (and out of date).

I should have said it is SAA approved (and the number checks out, unless of course they've just copied the SAA and model numbers)

That said, the charger in question here doesn't seem to have any approvals looking at the pictures.

        • Is the Adaptor marked like this one?

          http://obzorpokupok.ru/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/BlitzWolf-…

The N17653 is the C-Tick of a local "certification service" called Cotek.
It's probably OK (C-Tick means nothing anyway).

          SAA121254EA is valid certification
          https://equipment.erac.gov.au/Public/Profiles.aspx?Applicati…

The Certificate is registered for RCM against Mort Bay Traders.
          https://equipment.erac.gov.au/Registration/RSDetails.aspx?at…

That would only be valid IF the product was marked with RCM and IF the product was imported by Mort Bay Traders (which it wasn't).

If that's the power supply in question, then it looks like it's reasonably OK. Providing that the power supply itself is actually the same one as was tested approved and certified (which you have no way of knowing). It seems that the Chinese supplier is using the charger's old certification to supply into AU. Which is OK for them - the person technically breaking the law is the importer.

        • @llama:

Just to add to that - I know all about this stuff because compliance is a large part of my daily job. Our company imports a lot of chargers and power supplies for resale to OEM manufacturers here in Australia

We make sure that each product is 100% correct because otherwise (as the importer) we are 100% liable for any safety related incidents (fires, shocks, death). Our insurances don't cover us if we illegally import and supply dodgy stuff, and the fines are humungeous if we get busted.

A large majority of the samples we receive from Chinese suppliers are simply using the approvals and certification of another brand that they found on Google Images. The certification might be valid, but it doesn't even remotely match what is actually supplied LOL :-D

        • @llama:

Yeah, I have a good idea of how the Chinese suppliers operate, hasn't changed much from back in the day when we used to import. Even worse is when the sample is ok, but not what they ultimately try to supply.

  • For $29, I'd be better of buying the one from Officeworks. 4 port USB at 2.1A.

I bought one last week and it comes with 4 international plugs. Epic savour when travelling.

    • +6

Read the fine print of what you bought, that's 2x2.1A and 2x1a, and keep your receipt, those things die very quickly. Hardly a comparable product. Same one sells on EBay less branding for under $10, junk.

  • +1

Is there a +5 port charger where all of them are QC3?

    • I was trying to find one like that but to no avail. If so, it'd probably be a lot more expensive.

    • +3

      There's a Tronsmart charger with 5 QC2 ports…Tronsmart Titan

I have a couple and they work well.

    • Is there a two port charger, where both ports are quick charge 2 or 3?
A minimum two ports quick charge would be needed please.

Two of us have the HTC 10 at work and want to split the costs as we sit opposite each other.

      • +1

        Tronsmart have this

I have one in my office…works like a charm (got a travel plug converter from OW)

        • How fast of a time does your power banks and phone charge?

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

Same as if plugged into the Samsung fast charger…1.5hrs for an S6E, about 7 hours for the Xiaomi 20,800mAh powerbank

        • @twister292: then the guys above might as well use the standard fast charger that came with the phone haha

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

It's for the convenience of having multiple QC Ports

        • @twister292: In that case, the Aukey posted in the first set of replies is the better choice because the two people wouldn't fight over the QC3.0 since there are two of them.

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

The Tronsmart I linked to has all 5 ports as QC.

        • @twister292: Only 1 port QC3.0 and 4 ports VoltIQ 2.4A. However, the Aukey is 2 ports as QC3.0 + 4 ports as AiPower 2.4A

      • +1

The Tronsmart Titan might have been the deal you were looking for, back when it was ~AU$25 delivered (by TNT too) from Geekbuying I think.
A QC2 port each plus 3 spare for any other gadgets you have. A bit big for moving around, but perfect for its intended use as a desktop charger.

  • We use the non qc2.0 version of this charger at work. Everyone's happy.

Bang Good take SOOOOOOOOOO damn long to deliver……..

    • Really? I've found them no worse than others, usually better. My last few orders have arrived in around 2 weeks.

Guess it depends what you're buying.

        • Bought… May 28, shipped May 31st
It's now the 20th and I'm still yet to see it in my mailbox

Yeah, so what? Nothing unusual there - delivery takes about 4 weeks.

Same as every Chinese vendor, unless they send via Express.

I am buying continually from Chinese vendors across multiple sites, and the delivery times on cheap stuff is always about the same.

Maybe you have unrealistic expectations? How often do you buy from Ebay, etc?

        • @llama: Purchased 27 April, still no sight of my Mibands. Tracking number provided shows never left China.

        • @llama: I usually get my stuff from China in 2 weeks. It's when I buy from other sites that I have to wait a month+.

    • This is a Pre Order so the item won't ship until 5 July earliest (in my limited experience I've found they ship pretty close to their dates).

      • Yes I'm well aware this is a pre-order…
I'm talking about other products from them which aren't.

  • This looks perfect for our US trip in September.

Important Announcement: Please consider that in my experience the Banggood warranty guarantee is complete BS . They are currently wasting my time and avoiding dealing with my claim for something DOA ( this is the second time in a row). Of course you may be lucky and get something that works! Happy shopping
