AmEx Statement Credit Offer: Spend Three Times by 31/10/16 & Get $100 Back @ HCF

1250

Just noticed that the HCF offer which was originally only visible to Amex issued cards is now visible on Amex Connect for bank issued cards as well:

AmEx Offers: Spend Three Times & Get $100 Back @ HCF

Any luck anyone? I've saved the offer to my card, but there isn't the usual email notification.
Note: I'm not currently with HCF yet, but considering switching.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Save the offer to your eligible Card by 7/7/16 and spend 3 times on that Card, in-branch at HCF or online at hcf.com.au by 31/10/16 to receive a $100 credit. Limited to the first 7,500 Cards to register.
  • Offer is limited to one credit per registered Card. Only spend on the Card number you register counts towards the Offer.
  • Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly at HCF. For example purchases made through a third party payment processor like PayPal.
  • Offer valid at Australian locations and website only.
  • Offer only applies to HCF Health Insurance.
  • Purchases made at HCF Dental Centres or HCF Eyecare Centres, or on HCF Pet Insurance, HCF Life and HCF Travel are excluded.
  • Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
  • Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from offer end date.
  • Credit will not be applied to your Card Account if it has been suspended or cancelled.
  • Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.

Mod note: This deal was originally posted on 8/6 but removed as a targeted offer as it wasn't available to most AmEx card holders. The deal now appears valid (available to all) so the new deal post is permitted if this is the case.

  • Nice, worked for me.

    • me too, already pay HCF by Amex, so it's a no brainer.

      • +1

        Yeah same here, free cash!

      • So you mean to say that if your monthly premiums are automatically direct debited via AMEX, you are eligible for the cashback ?

        • you would need to activate the offer in your amexconnect

    • Great news! Did you get any email notifications? Registration or congratulatory email?

      • Nope, no email.

      • +5

I got email for enrolment in offer as well as the confirmation after I did 3 x $1 transactions, for all 5 of my cards.

        • +1

That's awesome. Someone willing to share their HCF account with me? And I'll pay off $1 from your account for you LOL

        • @illumination: Hehe. Why dont you PM me your CC number and I will make payment myself? :P

        • @macksta: Haha I would do that…

actually. I have an idea. One sec. I'll PM you.

        • @illumination:

care to share your idea? :)

        • @tonester:

          Care to share your account?

        • @tpthuan:
Anyone willing to PM me their account? I will contribute a few $3 into it considering I got a few cards signed up

          Thanks

        • Same here. Please PM me and I'll pay $9 to your HCF :)

    • Was there a minimum you had to spend the 3 times?

      • I did $1; but if you are real cheaparse, try 0.01 :)

Its going towards the premium anyway so it wouldnt matter, the next direct debit it will just charge you less amount.

As you make payments, you can see that under Summary section, the "Paid Till" date will increase depending on how much you have paid instantly.

        • I could not make any changes to the full payment amount. How did you do it?

        • @byo: It was an editable field - so say your premium is $200 it will show as 200 just edit that amount.

        • @macksta: Thanks mate, it works now.

    manual link?

  • Damn it doesn't work for me. Manual link would be amazing if someone has one

  • Worked for me, thanks.

  • +3

Worked for me, paid $1 thrice, profit of $97 :)

    • How to pay $1 at HCF?

      • +7
        1. Login to Online Member Services > Make a Payment
        2. You will see a screen with your full payment, manually change payment amount.
        3. Pay using AmEx.
        • Macksta, have you receive the rebate of $100 from Amex? Or any email confirmation from Amex?

        • +1

          @Purple:
Okay so this time around, I havent actual rebate from AmEx (got confirmation email though) but when it was initialy open to AmEx Platinum cardholders, I paid 3 x $10 and got rebate in 2 days. But given I have just done it today, it may take some time for rebate to come into account, approx 3-4 business days.

        • Thanks for your prompt response, Macksta. Have a pleasant afternoon. Here I come, HCF !

        • @macksta

I see the full payment but I am scared to go to the next screen to see if I can do a manual payment (incase my full payment goes through!)
have they turned it off you think?

          Thanks

        • @snippy: The payment is processed on the page requesting credit card details. macksta's instructions worked (and helped me!)

        • @wutang01: on the credit card details page, I still could not change the payment amount. Have I done anything wrong?

        • +1

          @byo:

On the Make Payment page, where you see the table containing your premium amount, there is a field with a pink background. That is the field you can edit.

        • @gdoubleu: Thanks mate, it works for me now.

        • +1

At what stage can you manually change the payment amount?
I click "Make a payment" -> "Pay now online" which shows the full amount (uneditable) and a button "Pay now" which I expect will immediately deduct payment from my registered credit card.

        • Okay, found the answer thanks to @necrok

        • thanks so much! the pink background BEFORE the final payment screen where you enter your details did it for me :)

        • @snippy:
do not see any pink fields other than CC details

        • @atlant: its the page before that where the costs of the premium is located, in the price/cost field it is a light pink which can be edited

    • what did you pay?

      • Premium for my Family Health Cover

    • interesting idea,

so in theory, sign up for minimum cover ($14.25 for me per week), make $1 payments.
change card in billing and repeat?

      • well in my case, family cover so monthly is $205.

        • have you received the cash back yet?

        • @thydzik: As per my previous comment -
"Okay so this time around, I havent actual rebate from AmEx (got confirmation email though) but when it was initialy open to AmEx Platinum cardholders, I paid 3 x $10 and got rebate in 2 days. But given I have just done it today, it may take some time for rebate to come into account, approx 3-4 business days."

      • I just signed up directly with HCF for the tablet deal.. can't be bothered switching

        • Tablet deal is interesting.. wonder if it's any good

        • @illumination: Based on the last few ozbargain posts (Lenovo 3), I value this tablet @ $76.

  • Sigh still doesn't work for me

  • Can anyone confirm they have receive the rebate of $100 from Amex? I know some Ozbargain already made 3 payments via Amex Card.

    • +1

      Yes. Got $100 after 3x $1.

      • Thanks Fishy, I am going to join HCF before end of June :)

    • See my comment above.

  • Interesting update!

I decided to take a dive, and switched to HCF via onebigswitch.
Immediately started making payments. I didn't get a registration successful email from Amex Network, but I did get the "Thank you for spending at HCF" email.
I was using my CBA Diamond Awards Amex.

Now just have to wait a few days for the statement credits :)

    i wonder if I can pay a random person's account for $3….

    • Haha! Happy to pay a randoms account too for $3….

      • Also happy to pay $3 for someone's premium

    • I'm happy to offer to do the same thing! :)

    • Me too, pm me if you have a HCF account! ;)

      • me 3 !

    • PM me too… hope this isnt against forum rules….

    • Yeah me too.

  • +2

FYI apparently to make a payment, one needs either

    • membership number + password

    or

    • membership number + full name + address + date of birth
  • Anything to spend at HCF other than insurance?

    • no….

      • Damn I am happy to pay $3 for someone's account then..

  • +2

It's actually $100 profit!! Anyway we need to pay our premium :)

    • yeah, for those who are already on HCF, it's a bonus $100 off your HCF premiums per unique Amex card! pretty sweet deal!

  • Weird. Works on my bank issued Amex but not on my Amex issued Amex.

    • What Amex do you have?
I could save the offer to my card (Platinum Edge) within the Amex app itself.

    • Same for me. Very weird. Bank issued AMEX registered but AMEX issued Platinum Edge won't let me register anywhere :( @wutang01 Tried the app but no luck there either.

  • The actual offer (3 payments) makes NO SENSE. They deserve to be abused.

One payment, one cashback, would have been logical.

    • HCF is a not for profit organisation. Go figure

      • The "cashback" is given by AMEX not HCF, so it doesn't defy logic

        • -1

Paid by Amex but okayed by HCF.

    • 3 payments are still okay but you need to have a limit, say Spend $50 3 times and get $100 back or similar.

      • -2

But the points is, who needs to make 3 payments to HCF Health by 7/7/16?

Surely the maximum personal use is to pay your monthly health bill. Ie: Max one payment.

  • Seems I can't enrol my amex card to this offer :( weird

  • Will do the switch when I got $200 EFTPOS Gift Card from NIB.

    • Careful of what waiting period transfers. I had heard that only the time with your last provider rolls over. Ie: if you were with NIB for a month, you'd then be waiting another 11 months for most waiting periods to end.

I know this makes no sense, it's just what I read in a comment here. It's up to you to investigate or ignore it.

  • +4

Dang I read this as BCF….lol

  • +1

I normally pay yearly, but I am afraid to hit the 'Pay Now' button, as it may debit my Amex card for the FULL amount showing (over $3000.00!) I cannot change the amount in that screen - does anyone know if you have the option to change the payment amount on the NEXT screen? Thanks.

    • why dont you just pay by Bpay over the phone for $1 would that not work? no need to pay online?
      Anyone?

    • +2

the page before you enter your credit card details, it has your total yearly payment for $3000+, just click on that pink background and you can pay 1 dollar.
      finally figured it out haha.

      Thanks!

  • +4

Thanks to a previous post, I realised that the payment amount can be changed in the field with the pink background on the online 'pay now' screen.
2 Amex cards = $200.00 thank you very much!

  • Do you have to be signed up for Hospital Cover ($19.25p/w) to utilize this or will just Extra's Cover ($2.70p/w) work also?

    • I'm hoping even Ambulance cover ~$1.20(week) will work. If that, then too good.

  • Just did it for 3x$1. Got immediately the 'thank you for spending at HCF' email.

Thank you for using Amex Offers with your Card ending XXXXX at H C F. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $100 credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended.

  • can't register anymore? not working here.. loop to signup amexconnect but not hcf offer

    • Yeah, same here. Can anyone confirm if it still works. I'd save my 3 cents ;-)

  • Works on my Westpac issued Amex but not on my Amex issued Amex. Anyone has the manual link? Thanks.

    • Have you tried saving the offer to your Amex issued card via the official Amex app?
That's how I got the offer on my Platinum Edge.

      • Offer's not showing for my Amex-issued card on the Amex web site or on the Amex Android app

        • What card do you have?
It's showing up on my Platinum Edge and my mate's DJs Amex

        • @wutang01: Qantas American Express Discovery

  • +1

Took a while to register all 14 non-AMEX issued cards but I think it's definitely worth the effort.. the most rewarding offers by far in terms of reward/effort ratio!
